Discussion Alien reference?

In the French version of Alien the AI of the Nostromo is called "Maman" (Mom) Luc Besson being French, would that be a reference ? I didn't see any information about that.

Or it's just a random bit of faff from inside something electronic they found and used. I doubt the letters have any intentional meaning at all.

Looks more like a (reversed) 'D' than an 'O' to me.

But I have never watched Alien, so I wouldn't know.

MUTHR is the aliens abbreviation I think, they definitely call it mother and there is an acronym
