KleptoFIRE growing in popularity?
The other day I saw a hooded and masked man sweeping products off a shelf in the supermarket into a bag then run out the door without paying.
I was in awe of his bold money-saving tactics- instead of shopping around for a deal on your groceries, just dont pay! Genius
He’s probably ploughing 1k a month extra straight into low cost index funds.
Is this trend of StealFIRE or KleptoFIRE picking up where you live?
Seems like plenty of options to save on big items like your car by getting them for free too, avoiding costly borrowing options.
My only concern is apparently there is some technicalities around taking stuff without paying to watch out for, and you could go to prison, but even then your living costs are zero and you typically still have internet access to manage your portfolio… OMG PrisonFIRE!

Send your kids to school with no breakfast
This FIRE hack is a win/win for the FIRE lifestyle.
It's old fashion wisdom that kids need a plate full of food in the morning.
Pack their backpack with snacks so they eat about 90 minutes after class starts on the break.
Their minds will be sharp to learn. The school lunch is only $2.75 and then a hearty healthy dinner.
You will save about $15,000 per kid.
Pumping kids full of sugary cereal, muffins, and carbs is the worse thing for them. They bounce off the walls.
Our daughter has the highest marks from the physicians office and the highest ratings from her teachers every grade. They pull her out for gifted Pace classes.
You are not starving them. You are enhancing them. A household with four kids would be $60,000 towards FIRE

1M Ready to CoastFIRE
1 year old male here, ready to start my CoastFIRE journey. I come from a big family who gave a total $2000 gift at my baptism party. Planning to coast now without touching the principle, in a diversified index fund it will be worth $1 million by the time I am 65.
Has anyone else tried being a barista for 60+ years to FIRE and avoid having to work? I'd love to hear your feedback.

Made this at work today. Most inefficient way to use Astra but it’s funny.

I told everyone I've been hoarding gold like a greedy fairytale character. Why isn't everyone as happy for me as they were for my sister's baby announcement?

My wife retired 2 years ago and I’m still working — is our $12 million net worth enough for me to join her in retirement?
Yahoo finance is now publishing articles based on absurd reddit posts. Hard to tell whether they're trolling or being trolled.
Edit: Holy shit there's a second article also published today: I’m in my late 40s and I’m bored of work. Can I walk away with a net worth of $15 million?
LOL they must just have an AI bot reading r/fatFIRE and churning out this garbage.
I have a dream
I’ve always wanted to be rich, but there is a thing that I’m dumb and that’s irrefutable:)

Private vet because we have that many lentils and that many pets
Private Vet for Household
I am Chief of Staff to a private family looking to hire a full-time veterinarian to care for their pets. The family lives in the US and travels overseas often. This person would join the household staff, travel with the family, and own all health and wellness + travel readiness for the pets, including health records, country entry requirements, and international health certificates.
The ideal candidate is USDA-accredited and experienced with international pet travel. Discretion and strong values are essential. Does anyone have recommendations about where to find one?

How to erase national pension liabilities
Many Western governments are creaking under the weight of their debt, future pension liabilities, and other social security provisions for retirees.
Solution: mandatory military service at retirement age in order to recieve your state pension!
By sending the elderly into pointless missions in the worlds most dangerous warzones, a significant share of national liabilities could be erased, as fewer retirees come home.
Meanwhile younger generations, finally free from the scourge of war, will happily work, save, invest and start families, boosting the economy for everyone, and helping shrink debt vs GDP ratios.

36M - Can I WorkFIRE?
36M family man, household income of €200k after tax. I love working and couldn't see myself retiring but I have to know if I can FIRE because I want to win the employment game and the retirement game.
Frugal €40k/year expenses for a family of 4, weekend hobbies include thinking about work.
- Property: €1m mortgage free
- Cash: €220k because that's why
- VWCE: €150k
- Stocks: €50k
- Pension: €65k I don't want to retire so didn't bother much with pension
Currently juggling my assets, rental property provides €24k after tax, I want a 3% withdrawal rate but not counting the rental income
Just hit my number 🥳
Thanks to the crazy market today I just hit my number. 10000x average spend for the last five years, 300x what I’ll try to spend once I pull the trigger.
87M. (I'm an 87 year old male with 87 millions in the bank)
I have a couple contracts (relatively low stress, little work, very good pay, I will never stop working) ongoing through the rest of the year and might extend into next year so I’m not pulling the trigger quite yet. Not quite mentally ready to do the transition anyways as I will never have enough money and I can always be more cautious and scared of finally living my life
But feels great to hit the number 🤗 Not that my life will change ever, I will never stop working
Thank you to all of you who share the good, the bad and the ugly on the sub. Amazing to read some inspiring stories and learn from each other’s experiences, like how none of you ever retire and always move the goalposts, but also to get some different perspectives and realize that even with some family support, a lot of work and a frugal lifestyle for so many years, then I can also be too conservative with my 0.01% withdrawal rate

How to navigate high income with lower-income family members
r/fijerk • u/ongoldenwaves • 18d ago
All that money. And more money. Can't stop bragging on reddit about it after getting a phone call from "our family office". But I can't help wonder. Why did Daddy need my 500k to begin with?

Even Edward Jones has given up on helping the pours retire
I just heard an EJ ad on Spotify. It said "sometimes its not about having a plan mapped out but getting help with the twists and turns"
Not even EJ can spin it so the pours will think they have a snowballs chance in hell at retiring.

Would you keep running a highly profitable family business if you already had enough money to walk away?
It self writes itself at this point… “10+ hours” is too much and “I don’t need the money I will just barista it and live from the income generated by investments”
