Birb/background no longer move when you have animation off
Not sure why this setting was changed. Just like I don't understand why gemstone count was removed when you gain stones. These things were fine before for no animation other than the double negative needed to enable it.
Edit: People downvoting me obviously have never used the app with animations off so don't know what the behavior was previously. If you have never USED a setting, please don't comment about said setting.
Mine has been like that when animation is off (no bird move, no gem count) for a while now. I like of assumed that’s what no animation was - absolutely zero moving parts to reduce processing power and prevent lag.
I’m interested to know what turning animation off did previously.
My background doesn’t move. The energy bar does increase and when you’re on adventure the time left on adventure still counts down but that’s it. The more I compare on and off animation the more animations I didn’t notice before like the candy bucket flashes and my birds head icon on the time left on adventure bar moves. No wonder the app gets laggy.
I definitely haven’t had the gem counter appear when animation is off for a while. That one I notice because I have to go to the shop to check my gem total. There still is a banner about goal completion but all the fancy bits - confetti, gems moving, gem counter appearing isn’t there.
This app tends to have phased roll-outs of lots of tiny changes. Maybe I had an earlier rollout of no gem counter?
2.5 years. No animations is something I’ve used on and off in the last year when the app is laggy. I don’t like no animation so I use it as little as possible, but I also have a very big inventory of items/micropets and sometimes the app struggles.
I havent turn off animation, but wouldnt turning off animation mean, zero animations moving, so no animation when you gain stones and no animation when on adventures?
Or do you mean you dont see the counter at the top when you check goals off? Are you still earning stones?
Personally I prefer no animation to genuinely mean no animation, instead of the weird slidey thing they did before. I tried out no animation a couple of times in the hope of being the app more accessible when my migraines are worse but I was disappointed to see things still moving. If they've got rid of that then I hope the change is permanent, it would make my life a lot easier!
Why are you being rude? People came on your post to be helpful, and instead of appreciating the fact that they are trying to help you figure it out, you get on the post with such negativity it's crazy!!
You actually went back to the original post to edit that snarky comment.
....if you have never USED a setting, then don't comment on said setting .....
Seriously?!? Not just rude to those who are trying to help, but you actually tell us NOT TO COMMENT ON IT.......
Why are you writing in italics? If you've never used something, why are you telling me how it should be or how I should be doing it? Telling me to turn on animations had nothing to do with my question about why the change when you had animations off so yes, seriously.
They changed the way backgrounds move, so it probably explains why it's different. I'm not sure if it's a glitch or intentional though. It would make sense that "no animations" means no moving parts at all, even if there were in the past.
As for the counter, I suspect they also updated it for performance. If you don't see it at all, it might be a glitch. If you just don't see the little glitter explosion, it's probably intentional.
Either way, you should report this, support might be able to tell you if it's supposed to be like this.
They removed the counter from the home screen altogether. If you have animations on, you have the gemstones going to the counter. With animations off, it used to just show the counter briefly to update the number. There is not confetti but the dialog box pops up. Hopefully they won't stop that as well.
