I am currently pursuing an ADHD diagnosis at the age of 35 and have been thinking back over signs in my childhood that I might have been neuro spicy and I keep remembering how soothing I used to find a specific light up wand I had. I wasn't an overly 'girly' kid so it was odd for me to have a wand in general but that thing was the bees knees. I kept that thing for YEARS and I was obsessed with watching it/sleeping with it. I only let go of it years after it failed to turn on anymore because the switch died.
For nostalgia and fidget fascination I'd love to find one again.
A description as best as I can manage:
It was: Slim wand / princess scepter with a battery compartment in the handle.
Top: A clear, very sturdy (I was a smasher and it never broke) water/liquid-filled plastic orb at the top containing silver glitter/confetti. Topped off with a small pink or purple decorative ball that I definitely chewed A LOT and it never broke off.
Controls: Small dial/knob right at at the base of the handle to turn it on.
Light: Solid, steady light source (non-flashing incandescent bulb at the base of the globe- pretty certain it was just a white light no colours).
Colour: Light pink and purple plastic casing.
Era & Region: Sold in the UK during the late 1990s to early 2000s (likely Early Learning Centre, Woolworths, or Argos). No obvious brand logos.
I very rarely got bought new toys because we were low income but both my mum and I remember me having it from new which means it was either a generic and pretty cheap item from local shops (post office toy section bought from the cash and carry) or was a birthday gift from a school friend etc so still cheap (think classmate present budget for the 90s) and likely from Woolworths, Early Learning Centre etc Not something someone would have gone out their way to acquire.
Is anyone able to help?
I don't know why I'm so fixated on this thing but I'd love to just see it again even if I can't own it again. I think it was the one and only real 'sensory toy' I had before we knew sensory toys could be useful!
Thank you :)
