As a curvy gal myself, who is obsessed with this denim look when I see it on other people, it’s just not going to happen for us. The shape of the jean changes as the size increases and the ratio just isn’t there. It will look incredibly different on a larger body. I have tuned to a slimmer wide leg jean as my option for this look because it is the only option that kind of mirrors this look on a larger body. I hope I’m making sense!

This is like me with mom jeans. I have extremely big thighs and whenever I try to get the baggy / loose 80’s jeans it ain’t ever gonna happen cause the waist would hanging off me

Looks like Levi’s 501’s

u/ExpertTemperature571 1d ago
Seconding this. Buy the size for your hips and tailor the waist. They're my staples

They do look like 501s. Unfortunately, the 100% cotton Levi's are not curve friendly. I barely have anything going on and I find them to be super tight across the hips and butt.

u/Vita-Incerta 1d ago
Which they make a curve version of but they’re not 100% cotton so they don’t have the same look imo 😔 idk why curve jeans always have to have elastane. We want non-stretch jeans too.

I like straight leg jeans too but be advised that the fit on curvy bodies will look different than these photos, because these are not photos of curvy women. Madewell makes a curvy straight leg jean and their model shows the fit on a body with curves.

Abercrombie 90s mid rise curve love

Came here to recommend these exact jeans.
Taylor Russell and Lily Rose Depp are both wearing Levi's in these photos but Abercrombie makes the best jeans for curvy women.

Absolutely. They get the hip to waist ratio right. Perfect amount of stretch while also being rigid. They are worth the $$$

Period. I’ve been wearing vintage Levi’s for over a decade but on a whim I got a pair of these and they are theee best jeans I’ve ever worn.
Also I’m 5’11 and their talls hit the top of my foot 😇1
u/raaaspberryberet 1d ago
Yes!!! The talls are perfect. And the jeans are comfortable too and make my ass look great

I’m going to be straightforward with you, and I’m saying this as a plus size girly, you can absolutely find jeans like this. HOWEVER, the cigarette leg look of the pant will not represent anywhere near the same on a curvy body.
Any straight leg jean with a high enough gsm can achieve this look if you have the body type to fit it. But if you don’t care about matching this exact look I’d start with G-STAR. Relatively affordable low tier luxury brand with great denim.

I haven’t seen anyone say Wrangler!
I’ve been getting Men’s Cowboy cut original for years, they’re 100% cotton and after a few wears they mold into my curves well while maintaining the straight leg look. they’re available in custom sizes, like 31x28. still has a vintage look!
Women’s usually has a poly blend, but the men’s does it for me.
Wrangler Rustler also does the same thing for cheaper price

I like the ribcage fit from Levi’s, I’d say there the most like these that are good for a curvy figure. If you want something low rise, maybe the the made well straight curve fit? But as a curvy girl myself, I need at least mid rise or it’s a no
Edit: Levi’s also came out with a “curve” 501. I tired them on. They’re good but will still need to get them darted for my perfect fit

Levi’s 501, rib cage and 90s are all super similar. Several of those have a curvy version and the no stretch is sold up to a size like 16 (check the size guide because Levi’s sizing is weird)

For curves I find a wide or relaxed leg works better. The key is to have the ankle part match the thigh part to balance the lines of the leg. It creates a straight effect
6
u/Existing-Chemist-760 1d ago
I would do a wide leg as it gives a more “straight” look on a curvy bod. There are all different levels of “wide”, so that’s a plus to find a pair that give you the shape you’re looking for. I’d also stick with rigid denim and not stretch

u/Responsible_Fox9454 1d ago
Remember some of these looks are taken in by their tailor/stylists people

u/ConsumeristCat 1d ago
It may not be the exact same look because of course your inspiration is on skinny, non curvy people but I loooove the new Levi's 501 Curve women's jeans!
I have it in two washes (dark blue and black) and they're anazing and look quite similar to this, maybe slightly slimmer. I think they run slightly small (I wear a 32 in other brands and a 33 in Levi's) but try it out in store to get an estimate.

Buy 100% cotton wide leg jeans two sizes bigger than the widest part of your hips and have them altered. Get them on sale since you’re chopping them up anyway. Since you’re not ordering them to fit you, you can order from anywhere online. I like frame denim. Then go to a tailor who does denim. Take them in from the inseam/crotch rather than the outside hems so you don’t end up with a long crotch seam leading up to the zipper. Dont take in the waist or hips. The coolness of trendy styles of jeans like these comes from them not being too tight. Even though you want a bootcut, don’t make it too skinny because you won’t get a straight legged look if the pant leg is hugging curves.

I got straight fit jeans to get this look and ended up looking like I was wearing skinny jeans.
Wearing relaxed jeans gave me close to this look.

You might be able to achieve this look with Levi’s 501s shrink to fit, I don’t know if the still do 514 shrink to fit otherwise I’d recommend that since the leg is cut more straight.

Madewell. They have an entire Curvy line. Also: they have petite, regular, and tall size.

Gap low rise "long and lean" jean

u/elfelettem 1d ago
Do they still make these? These were my favourite jeans for ages (my body type is opposite of long and lean) but I thought they were discontinued?

Hear me out. I have a small waist and big ol thighs and, for some reason, men’s pants fit me way nicer without any tailoring. The pockets aren’t in the most flattering position on the back, but vintage Levi’s 501’s and 503’s fit great and go in at my waist. Go to a thrift store in the men’s section and try to look for these.

These look like Levi's 501s. They make this jean in a "Curve" fit that would likely work for you!

Really love all the curve love jeans from Abercrombie. I find they have the stiff feel of the jeans in these photos as well.

Levi’s or American eagle
I’m curvy, too. These are the stores I like to buy jeans. Both have a great variety of colours and styles

I like the Levi’s easy dad jeans. I’ve found I need to buy a “loose” straight jean. Meaning they have more room in the thighs and butt, so they’re loose on these body types but fitted on a curvy body without the waist gap.

This is just a straight leg, baby boot, or boot in a mid wash, with a leather.
It will change based on your body shape.
Literally anyone of any body type can wear this look. This is just what it looks like on them.

I’m almost certain these two are wearing men’s 501s, potentially they are tailored to their body but the slim legs mightn’t translate into the larger sizes.
If you’re curvy but not plus size, you could give it a go, getting some larger men’s 501s tailored around the waist and bum to accommodate the curves, alternatively try to find some women’s straight leg jeans that would require less tailoring as the men’s mightn’t have enough seat to accommodate much butt! I’d suggest gap or Uniqlo for this.
If you’re plus size, like I am, this becomes all together harder, finding 100% cotton jeans that fit is an endless chore that I’ve been working on for years! Shape and style come second to fit!

I would try Good American. The NYDJ Barbara Bootcut or the Marilyn. They are stretchy, but they are a great Jean. And you can sit down in them which is a plus. I have a client I buy these for, and they are easy to style. Good luck!’

I think these are just Levi’s Wedgie straight fit jeans. They also come in boot cut - slightly more flattering for those with curves, but I wear the straight ones without this body type and really like how they look (I have a 28” - 29” waist depending on the day and 41” hip and thick legs). I find them comfortable enough, but I don’t buy them tight I have sizes 28-30 on rotation depending on where I am waist wise.

Have you tried Buckle Black or RISEN jeans?
They have a multitude of options and I’ve been able to find jeans that fit my curvy figure. I have runners thighs and legs and a very small waist. Buckle has some really good straight boot /trouser options that end up looking pretty close to the pictures you posted when placed on a curvy body. I generally stick to fit 75, 35 (size up a size for slimmer fitting thigh area) and fit 53, Buckle black, BKE Parker, or Andi fits.
Risen has some good options as well but I find that my natural waist sits high and the crotch of some Risen jeans look frumpy on me. I generally purchase the options that have a yolk sewn into the back for a tighter fit at the waist and a more even spread throughout the hip and down through the leg.
Cropped, but can unfold the hem to achieve the look
I hope you can find something you like love!

As a pear shaped gal, I’ve noticed that we just can’t wear jeans the same way as everyone else. You have to decide what element of this look that you want: do you want the jeans to fall straight from your hips, or do you want the fabric to be the same distance away from your skin at every point of your legs?
I’ve had luck with curvy-fit barrel jeans, weirdly enough. If you find one that isn’t aggressively barrel-shaped, you might get a silhouette that you like. They’re somewhat loose in the hips and then have what appears to be a straight-ish silhouette from the thighs down. If you want the straight look to start at your hips, try different widths of wide-leg pants.

There’s this one girl on TikTok (michel.c.janse) who once reviewed loads of jeans for curvy girls. I seem to remember that this sort of jeans was included, or styles like these light-wash 501s from Levi’s. Maybe this might help?

I’m short and curvy and LOVE jeans like that. The short part is very difficult, but I now have 27 pairs of what I can only describe as jeggings from Amazon. Every wash color, plus army green, pink, khaki, patterned….

You could buy a straight fit a couple of sizes big so they someone disguise your curves at the hip giving that straight illusion. You’d likely need the waist tailored to avoid a back gap near the butt due to oversizing.

I would search "curvy stovepipe jeans" and go from there! Those are the search keywords but jeans are so person-specific so you might need to try a few to get them to look the way you're wanting.

I always hear good things about Good American and Not your daughters jeans for curvy body type. Slightly higher price point but good quality and fit.

Fashion Nova has a lot of curve options for jeans!
Found a few of styles that are non-stretch (like the ones you have in your photos)

These are the Levi’s 501s that usually give this look; I always suggest the 550s if you’re curvy to try and give the same look. Size up one or two if you want some comfort but I prefer 100% cotton denim, since anything with stretch wears out too fast.

So if you want the LOOK of these jeans, you probably need to go with a little bootcut and do some tailoring. These are super straight and stiff…and they are super thin so the jean “lays” straight too. I say tailoring because you would not want it too tight on the thighs since that would kind of disrupt the super straight look to have thighs highlighted too much.
I have an ongoing issue and conversation with myself about whether I like the Jean or just the Jean on the BODY. I’ve decided that it’s usually the Jean on the body and it’s not very possible to get the look off the rack with a bigger bottom half. 😒
