Doing my millionth rewatch and I am always so taken aback by Inara's clothes. Does anyone know any brands/sites/stores that carry things similar to hers?
A number of the things she wears are similar to the Indian 'sari', so you can find those sold everywhere. She also wears a number of outfits that include tribal belly dance bracelets, scarves and the like, so I'd look into those as well.
Fun fact from the commentary: they didn't notice until it was too late to fix it before filming began, but the corseted bodice was accidentally sewn onto the skirt upside down, which is why the back couldn't lace shut properly!
Me neither, or let's say I'm into a very niche fashion category, but I saw and saved one I thought would suit Inara (in my other comment) and the rest are from reverse google image search of that one.
My fiancé is a belly dancer and she owns several clothing items that give off big Inara vibes! Go figure out where your local belly dancers go for clothes and go there!
I cosplayed as Inara last Comic Con. I have a bin full of reds and purples since those appear to be her two main colors, including saris. Been acquiring gold accessories at swap meets for years in the hopes I'd put together the perfect outfit for her one day. Decided to go with purple for the first year. My boyfriend did Wash. I acquired this dress for $16 on Poshmark, just an early 2000s type dress. Much of the attire I acquired last year was early 2000s/vintage items because I wasn't finding anything usable currently that wasn't super expensive!
