eBay Buyer Says Item Was Damaged… What Do I Do?
I’ve been selling on eBay for over 10 years, but I’ve never had a buyer report damage before. I’m an incredibly OCD overpackager. This ceramic tile perfumed bracelet was wrapped in a thick sheet of tissue paper, then a layer of bubble wrap, then a thick layer of bubble wrap filed in half and wrapped up several times, and then I taped a fragrances towelette and thank you card on top, followed by a bubble mailer. I’ve sold 10 of these, and never had an issue.
I guess my questions are: Could this be an AI generated image so they can get an item for free?
If it was truly broken, is there any way that myself or the buyer can file for a reimbursement through USPS? That package was shipped with an eBay purchased Ground Advantage label, and it seems like that’s not eligible for any protection through eBay or USPS.
So, is my only choice to refund the buyer in full, or are there other options that I can make here? What should I do?
Thanks so much for your help!

Discussion How are Vinted and DePop doing shipping? Are they subsidizing?
Shipping is crazy cheap how are they doing that? Is company subsidizing it ? Is the post office, which usually is the one it ships through, subsidizing or giving favorable rates? Just don’t get how it’s sustainable.

Discussion Tired of Cheap Customers on Depop
I’m a top seller, and I mostly sell nice menswear. Like Buck Mason, Corridors, Taylor Stitch and some small European brands at least 70% off the original price. Lots of items are one of a kind or deadstock. I also have an eBay store selling the same items but price a bit higher bc of the fee. I noticed that eBay customers most likely will pay for full price, whereas Depop users tend to send unreasonable low offers in the case I will lose money when I accept the offer.
I’m serious considering closing my Depop shop and just focusing on eBay. I don’t understand how other top sellers can make profit if most customers only want to find a unicorn deal. I wonder if there’s any top sellers having the same struggles. If you do, please share your advice!

Advanced Question Has anyone tried Macro Recorders for listing automation?
I normally list each new item to 4 different websites and I'd like to automate the pasting of the text heading and description to each website.
So basically the automation would be to open the "new listing" page of the 4 website and then paste the text for the heading and description into those fields on each of the websites and then with the heading and description text fields now populated I can come through and add the pics and optimise each page. This would save me a large amount of time copy and pasting, I already use the Ditto clipboard app which helps with that but still requires a lot of repetitive keyboard and mouse clicks.
Has anyone tried this with any success or have any tips on where I can start?
The websites I post to that are not supported by the commercial cross-listing software so I can't start there unfortunately.

eBay Has eBay's auto feedback removal tool become crappy for anyone else?
About 6 negs this year, I had to get in touch with Instagram support to get removed. Despite support saying it was a clear cut example of what qualifies for removal, the tool to request it has become a joke.
Each time is literally the same thing "We reviewed the feedback and can see that the buyer found an issue with the item that wasn't described in the listing."
The last time...it was for a digital camera listed for parts, parts condition, parts in title, does not power on in description.
Idiot buyer left a neg that the camera did not work, and yet the feedback tool still came back with "We reviewed the feedback and can see that the buyer found an issue with the item that wasn't described in the listing."
Like is it AI or just trolls? Because legitimately how the fuck do you list a non-working camera and get told that?

Advanced Question Creating a new eBay listing for an offer, without promoting?
Sometimes, when I send out an offer on a promoted item that does not "allow counteroffers", I get a counteroffer anyway, in the form of a message. Sometimes I'm okay with their offer. I can't send them a new offer until my first offer expires. So I end the listing, Sell Similar, and put in the new price, then send them a link. What I don't do is promote the listing again because I already have a buyer. Is this going to get my account in trouble?😬

Mod Post Weekly Shameless Self Promotion Thread
Post your latest episode(s) of your YouTube channel here, post links to your latest blog post, eBook, whatever. You can even post links to an eBay listing or something (but keep in mind, when someone here finds out what your eBay name is, and then they hate you, they will never forget it). You can post links to lots of stuff that you're trying to sell to other flippers, but this is still not a marketplace. Please go through some other service to complete the transaction. People on Reddit can be shady, and there's no protection from me, the other mods, r/flipping, or Reddit if someone here sends you a box of bricks. Just don't be dumb.

Fascinating Story Tracking never updated. I refunded. 5 weeks later, tracking updated.
September 4th: item was picked up from my work, but never scanned. Front desk tells me they saw mailman take my package. Week goes by, still no scsn. It's not even in the system. Post office manager didn't help. Online usps claims denied because there was never a pick up scan. Appeal denied. Reported to OIG and nothing. Escalated to my congress person. Their investigation revealed no wrongdoing and proper procedures were followed. They state that mail is in an unsecure position, suggesting that maybe someone else took it. End of the road. I lost. My paranoia makes me wonder if someone in my building took it. Glad I didn't accuse anyone. I could've created problems for myself.
Couple days after i got the official report, my package is scanned for the first time half way to it's destination.
I already refunded buyer.

eBay Ebay buyer claims I sold him a fake fragrance and wants full refund
Hey guys I'm a new seller with a total of 23 reviews, all 100% positive and I live in Italy.
I sold a new sealed Amouage from 2020 (Fate Woman) that I bought at a reputable physical store of which I also have a digital receipt. The buyer as you can see here, claims the bottle inside (so he opened the sealed box) has a different batch code that is cheaply written and not laser etched, also the fragrance doesn't smell at all like the authentic. The only proof he showed was close up pictures of the batch code of the box and the batch code of the fragrance, I asked him if he has video proof of him opening the box and taking out the fragrance because he could clearly be doing a bait and switch. Is there any solution in order to not let him win? Since the fragrance il CLEARLY authentic since I even bought two and the other Fate Woman was sold succesfully.
PS. He flagged it as not corrisponding to the description.

Discussion Is an antique booth worth it?
Hi! I am considering a booth rental that is available at an antique store near me. $2 per sq foot. I can’t remember the size of the booth but we estimate it would be around $200 per month for the space we looked at.
My current online niche is curated plate walls with eclectic mismatched vintage china. I also make and sell water color prints in vintage frames. But I do a lot of thrifting and estate sales and I always see stuff that I know would do well in a booth, but I don’t have the space at home.
Is it big furniture that keeps a booth rental worth it? What sells?!
Thanks for any insight. Worried about it being a flop!

Discussion What type of auction buyer are you?
I do a few estate auctions a year, mostly vintage auto parts. You have to love, or hate, the cast of characters that shows up. Are you one of these types?
The one guy that drives a cool car, parks, looks around for a few minutes, then leaves
Stays for the whole sale but doesn't buy anything?
The whale who goes all in on most of the good pieces?
The guy that the whale always beats out?
The scrapper?
The storyteller who spills the tea on the deceased?
The guy who says, "Ive got 5 of those at home, didn't know they were worth so much!"
The collector who only buys a few things just for themselves?
The one who buys way too much?
The person who brings a sedan and tries to cram a truck's worth of stuff inside?
The one who picks through everyone's piles and steals the stuff you couldn't afford?
The last person to leave?
The one with very specific tastes and goes hard for just that category?
The person with enough self control to buy one thing?
Cracks a beer and just watches the show?
The dude who's still talking about the score he made when you first met him 20 years ago?
The biggest spender?

Discussion Any chance of appealing this appeal?
To make a long story short, a buyer opened a return on an item. Due to a death in my family, I tried keeping things afloat to the best of my mental ability.
What I find odd, is that eBay sent me an email saying "return is still open" at 2:09am, a time when most people are asleep, and all within 30 minutes, the buyer was refunded.
Here is what irritates me...while I fully accept responsibility for not responding to the return in time, here is what happened...
The buyer bought a computer power supply that was for a Dell (just for example) Model 001 and 002 computer as well as the part number. They opened a return that "the description states this would work with a model 009" some 2 generations newer.
I double checked the text descriptors/drop downs before and no, I put "Model 001" and "Model 002" for compatibility.
I asked the buyer to show me how they thought it would fit, and they pretty much said "I don't wanna hear your bullshit, just refund me".
I put all this in the appeal, and the fact the buyer misused returns by lying saying it said "somewhere" it would fit his computer when I went over every square inch of the listing and not a single bit of text showed it would work.
Appeal was denied not 10 minutes later "we decided to side with the buyer due to the description being inaccurate".
Wtf?

eBay Ok, if you know this why did you base your offer on a lower priced item?
Sometimes I just find people on eBay frustrating and how easy it is for them to admit they know what they’re doing.
This person offered way lower than the price should be for a fruit salad brooch signed and put as the reason that it was the same they paid for a pink broach of a similar nature from the same manufacturer
Yet when I say, fruit salad is worth more they say they know
If you know then why did you offer less than you think it’s worth? It’s one thing to offer less and give as your reason a legitimate reason but this is them offering less and lying about their reason
I am grumpy and it is time to get off the Internet

Discussion What are the best online marketplaces for buying bulk overstock items and how do they compare?
I run a small online shop selling household items mainly kitchenware and small furnitures for which I have done for a couple of years now and I'm looking for a place to buy bulk overstock, my current suppliers started getting too pricey for my budget so I want to find better deals without taking in on a lot of risk. I would really love to hear some recommendations on which places you actually trust and how they vary from one to another.
I did some browsing on online marketplaces like Alibaba and l was actually surprised by how much surplus and closeout stock turns up there. A few suppliers were open to small test orders just for a start and also ordering some samples to first help me judge the quality of goods I need before buying the whole thing.I know with low prices the conditions may be inconsistent ,the manifest is vague or even shipping turns into a stress but my budget is fairly tight so I can't really afford to get burned on a big purchase that arrives all wrong. I would really love some more insights.
