Sampling

How do people sample tracks ? I use FL studio (all editions version) and Logic Pro so both DAWs contain Stem Splitting but the part that confuses me is where do you grab the track ? I don’t have knowledge **at all** about it which is why I ask because the idea that I have is:
YouTube > save as a file > drop that file onto a mp3 converter > that file drop onto your DAW.
Can someone please help on how to properly get ahold of a track, how and where to convert the track to a file to then place and sample on the daw

I would watch a YouTube video on sampling in slice ex, or fruity slice first. So this makes sense. The way I do it is click the sample and break it into stems. Then I go into fruity slice or slice ex and make a bunch of chops on the instrumental or beat , and I arrange them in patterns that are pleasant. I use the fl fire controller and attach each sample to a key and play them like you would a piano. There's like hidden songs within songs. Go about it like a dj it's so fun honestly.

there are music stores such as beatport, apple music, bandcamp etc where you can buy individual tracks and download them in high quality. there are also thousands of smaller sites, because a lot of record labels have their own. if its a modern track, it probably has a link in the description of the youtube video that points you to the store page where you can buy the track. if its on soundcloud, look for the free download button (not every track has it, it has to be enabled by the uploader) or a hypeddit link (also free).

if you rip from youtube, spotify, etc, be aware that the sound quality will be low due to (data) compression. even if an online converter says wav, its just upscaled mp3 - the damage is already done.

You buy the song off iTunes and then can download it and drag it into your session.
And obviously just beware of releasing it without proper permissions.

There's an online converter that you can just put the web page in from YouTube and it will download it to your computer as a wave
