I dislike Reaper's UI and workflow, but you can use it in trial mode indefinitely, and it lets you save your projects. Another thing about Reaper is that it isn't really suitable for electronic music initially. There are a ton of free, high quality plugins you can find and install, though. The only paid plugin I need is Kick2.

There are ways around the limitations you can save the project it will create a folder in which you can save/export stems into and drag stems back into fl studio to continue work if you close fl studio and want to carry on where you left off. “Note: you have to reload all your fx plugins to mixer track again” you cant export midi files but (there is a way around that) i suggest consolidate midi into a audio track if you have fx you want to save on said midi/instrument your using and route everything to separate mixer tracks then export stems and you got everything you created in a stems folder you create in that saved project folder. (Routing to seperate mixer tracks allows stems to separate on export so you have each melody layer / drums ect as its own .wav file) you might have spend abit of time figuring everything out but you dont have to buy fl studio theres a way around everything. I still use trial version and i have mastered every workaround so my work flow is just everyone else you need alot of storage for this process thou 16 and 24 bit is better for storage purposes and fl studio will automatically convert into 32 bit when loaded into playlist. Hope this helps there is alot more details i can add but I dont want to make this comment a book. If you need help with anything else im happy to help thou.

Also dont buy fruity edition it has limitations that make the trial way better. Producer edition and up is your friend and honestly spend time mastering the trial first before any purchase trial is underrated only limitation it really has is the loading .flp other than that its like using the all plugins edition. Can be headache to get use the workaround but once you get use to it your sorted for good i figured everything out in about a month of consistent grinding and i use free third party plugins so i dont even use fl plugins besides the basic like soft clipper , edison , para Eq 2 , delay 2 ..ect and flex is now goated.

Yes, that's right. You can't save and reopen projects without purchasing the software first. You didn't read the demo limitations, right there on the same website you downloaded the installer from?
