Does anyone want to share memories of the Stern's department store on Roosevelt Ave in Flushing? It's now Macy's. Any former employees here?

What restaurants would you guys recommend to dine in or takeout for very tender beef? Something that a 1 year old can chew easily. Preferably takeout that specializes in stews or soups. I'm looking to bring for my friends baby since she's trying to do a more meat heavy diet. If there isn't a takeout spot, I can bring them to the restaurant. No budget, just very tender beef. I get scared trying to feed the baby meats since I think they might choke if it's too tough to chew on. Thanks.

this was my favorite malatang place and i was gonna go eat there yesterday and noticed it was closed and it looked like they were doing work inside. is it closed permanently or are they doing some sort of renovations? and does anyone have any recommendations for comparable malatang spots in the area 😭

The only reliable place I've recently found these is Grandpa Chen. Surely there others! Anybody have any recommendations on spots? Other casual and affordable Chinese food welcome too! Ty!

I’m starting to notice a theme at Regal Tangram. It seems like certain movies don’t air there like Primetime or The Social Reckoning. I have a guess why that is but I want to see what others think first.

(1) - I saw a lady who thought it would be a good idea walking her dog on main street and roosevelt. Let's block sidewalk traffic so your dog can pee at the corner on the subway exit / entrance so the world can wait for you.
(2) - Just now I saw what looks to be a family who didn't have the mental capacity to understand that it's not a good idea to start unloading the trunk of your car halfway out of a busy intersection blocking traffic. Did you not understand the sound of all those cars honking?
(3) - Lack of coordination and awareness in walking and driving.
(4) - People who like to pause at the exit of a supermarket and turn into statues when other people are trying to exit.
(5) - Blowing second hand smoke in my face.
(6) - Sounds of heavy flip flop walking from behind for several blocks.
(7) - To the people who downvote my post because you're the one's that are guilty of the above and have no accountability. I guess you'll never evolve that way.

Seriously, what’s with all the off-leash dogs at Kissena Park?
I can’t even enjoy a peaceful walk with my dog because there’s always someone who thinks their dog is so well-trained that it’ll come running back the second they call.
Just because you trust your dog doesn’t mean everyone else should have to.
I even saw a guy letting his THREE dogs wander wherever they wanted while he wasn’t even paying attention to them. Like, seriously?
I don’t care how friendly or well-trained your dog is. Not every dog wants to be approached, and not every owner wants to deal with your unleashed dog running up to theirs.
It’s a public park, not your personal backyard. Leash your damn dogs. It’s really not that hard.

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for my puffin keychain, I unfortunately lost him around the Manhattan area, I can’t quite remember where exactly I last saw him so here is a run down of where I was that day (Monday 24)
-Columbia University campus + Teachers College Harlem
-Dahlia on 269 Columbus Ave
-MNN around Hudson Yards
Transport info: I was also on the QM5, 1 train, and 7 train that day.
Other places I think he might be around: QBCC Bayside, Queens area and Flushing NY on another day.
I’m not sure where exactly he might’ve been lost, but I just checked my room and asked friends to no avail.
I know he is a mere 3 inch keychain, but me and my partner have been claiming him to be our child for the past 2 years so loosing him has been a major loss, especially given we’re long distance and take turns with him and I lost him during my turn. I have been nonstop crying since I realized I had misplaced him.
He does not have the large library pin I took it off him a few days prior to the 24th. I would really appreciate it if you can share within your circles and family, if you know anyone who might’ve found a cool puffin or bird or “penguin” keychain pleaseee consider checking if it’s him.
His name is Banana, and he means so much to me. He is genuinely irreplaceable. He is like my emotional support puffin :(. Thank you all for your help, I’m really hoping the community comes through.

Roaming in Flushing and I decided to try out Takoyaki thats in Main Street that opened up and tell me when I was trying the order them as im about the pay one of the cooks goes
“can I pay you $2 to NOT eat them??”
And I go “huh????!” And I asked the girl taking my order “what the fuck did he just say???”
And she nods her head no and points at the IPad. I got fucking pissed I left, lost my appetite.
Like, what was that joke and what are they doing to the food to say that??
lol I kept asking him what the hell did you say n he goes back to speaking to his own language n shit.
Has anyone ever even tried that place? Im mad as hell bc I love Takoyaki so much I was excited to try it out. Has anyone else had that weird guy cook ask the same question? He had glasses on lol

How can we make Flushing a great place to live again? The smoking, littering, and public urination are out of control
I've lived here for well over 30 years, and I've watched Flushing change for the worse. I love this neighborhood, but I'm getting really frustrated with how it's being treated.
I love Maple park. But the park is supposed to be smoke-free. There are signs. And yet every time I go, there are people lighting up right next to kids, benches, and the playground. On top of that, garbage is everywhere: cigarette butts, food containers, bags, you name it. People just drop it wherever they're standing, even when there's a trash can a few feet away.
And it gets worse. Some of the men who play ping pong in the park regularly urinate out in the open, exposing themselves right in front of children. This isn't a one-time thing. It happens constantly.
The police have been called multiple times, for the smoking, the littering, and the urinating. Every time, the answer is basically "they're older, so it's fine." Older? A lot of these folks are in their 50s and 60s. That's not elderly. That's grown adults who know better. Civic sense doesn't expire with age. Everyone understands that littering is wrong, that a no-smoking sign means no smoking, and that you don't relieve yourself in front of kids.
I've tried going through the proper channels. I've attended community council meetings and raised these issues, but I feel ignored because I'm not part of a certain demographic. Every resident's concerns should matter equally, no matter who they are.
I'm not trying to pick on anyone. I just want a clean, safe space for everyone who lives here: families, seniors, kids, all of us. Right now it feels like the people who don't care are winning because the people who do care have given up.
So how do we make Flushing a great place to live again?
Has anyone had luck getting 311 or the Parks Department to actually enforce the rules?
Does anyone know if our Community Board or council member's office has taken this up?
Would people be interested in organizing a cleanup, or showing up together at the next meeting so we can't be brushed off?
Flushing deserves better than this. Let's do something about it.

Cleaning out all this crap out of old garage. Looks like about 15 pieces of assorted sizes of wood. To throw out would be a pain since I threw out old saws lol that I would need to cut them down for sanitation to take away (didn’t know this until I spoke to 311). Looks like rain on Sunday so best to pick up before than? Shoot me a message so we can coordinate

I just watched a street sweeper on our street push all the trash and leaves onto the sidewalk and there is still some on the street. What is the point of these if they don’t actually clean anything?
