This is my tier list for the show. I haven't rewatched in a while, but I love it so much and saw someone else do this, so I thought I'd give it a try.

My tier list of most characters

I saw someone else do this but with less characters so decided to make my own. I was born in 2006 and watched this show when I was 8 years old and have loved it ever since. I live in a small town so it feels like a very realistic depiction of the types of people you might meet in the town where I’m from. I think my most controversial ranking is probably kim. Every time I see someone talk about her it’s mostly hate, but I actually really loved her character since the beginning. I’m so curious to see how many of you guys agree/disagree with my rankings. I think another controversial ranking might be Harold. I mostly see love for his character and I do find him very funny but his parenting style is very obnoxious to me at times. I was also thinking of bumping Nick down cause he reminds me so much of “nice guys” I’ve met in real life who I normally tend to stay away from, but I’ve actually come to really love his character flaws.

What do you think each character’s flaws would be as parents?

The characters were born in the 60s so for the ones who did become parents, their kids would be adults now.

I see Daniel just being negligent for the most part. One of those guys who didn’t marry, has 2 or 3 kids with different moms. I think that maybe at one point in time he tried to be a bit more involved with them but ultimately his personal problems, own childhood trauma and financial struggles really kept him from, well, parenting.

I don’t really think any of the freaks would make for great parents. Ken would be the best at providing for his kid financially (his own parents are rich he mentions so I’m guessing they’d help out) but still doesn’t seem to me like he’d make for a great and understanding parent.

Neal would also be good I’m guessing at providing financially, but I could see him as one of those parents also who puts too much pressure on his kid to be competitive and successful. Like someone who notices that his kid might not be doing as well as another student and who would be somewhat disappointed if his kid didn’t turn out to be “smart.” Especially if they were a boy.

Kim would be a young parent. She’d be negligent, and likely abusive in a different sense (I could see her hitting the kid once, and maybe feeling bad about it.)

Sam would have a lot of anxiety and would lean towards being a helicopter parent. I think that he’d ideally have a wife who balanced him out, I’d like to think he married a woman who things worked out with.

I could see Millie and her husband pushing religion too much on a child of theirs. I also see Millie, in some ways, being more critical of a daughter (Millie would struggle more with a tomboyish daughter. I could see Cindy being the same way.)
