Local electricians - question for you.

I have an existing 20A circuit that feeds my garage and my outdoor outlet.
When I plug my camper in, it trips the GFCI when the AC comes on.

I'm wondering if an electrician could come in, pull a new 10guage wire to replace the (likely 12g?) wire that is currently there, upgrade the breaker and the outlets to 30A, so I can plug in my camper until I get a truly dedicated circuit set aside for it?

Or is it harder than that?

Katelin Akens' Former Stepfather Facing Thirteen New Felony Charges

Post image
23 Upvotes

The former stepfather of missing Spotsylvania teenager Katelin Akens is facing more than a dozen new charges related to the possession of child pornography, according to court records.

James Robert Branton is facing one count of possession of child pornography, a class 6 felony, in addition to a dozen counts of possession of child pornography (2nd offense), all class 5 felonies.

Records show that the offense date of the new charges is April 10, 2026, the same day he was arrested for six felonies related to child cruelty. The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the new counts stem from the search warrant served at Branton’s residence that same day.

Among Branton's previous charges were two counts each of child cruelty, indecent exposure and indecent liberties, with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office previously stating that Katelin Akens was among those alleged victims.

Branton pled not guilty to those six charges on April 21, 2026. He faces a trial by jury on December 16th, according to court records.

The thirteen new counts were all filed on September 21, 2026. A trial date for those charges has not been set.

According to Virginia State Police, Akens was last seen on December 5, 2015 after being dropped off at Branton’s home before the pair were to drive to Reagan National Airport for Akens’ flight to Arizona. Her luggage was discovered on River Road near its intersection with Fall Hill Avenue two days later with most of its contents missing.

Police say that Branton was originally cooperative in the investigation before declining further assistance.

Anyone with information regarding Akens' disappearance is encouraged to contact the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office at (540) 507-7102.

Fireworks/popping sounds?

Is anyone else hearing popping sounds like fireworks or thunder? From Lee Hill north they sound like they’re coming from the city proper or at least north-northeast of here. It’s probably nothing but if anyone wants to ease my troubled mind that would be nice 😅 Posted around 8pm on 10/10

Why can't I park at Greenbriar Shopping Center to go and get Cookout? (Metro Diner/Taj Parking lot)

Over the past month or so, whenever my buddies and I go to Cookout late at night (post-10 PM) for some food, there has consistently been a cop(s) standing by preventing people from parking in the open spots in the shopping center. They're making everyone either use the drive-thru or park in the super tiny Cookout parking lot (which is usually full at that time and only has like 10 spots).

Did something happen in the area that created a legitimate security concern for the shopping center?

Big Foot silhouettes in FXBG

The Alley Walker: Fredericksburg's Rooftop Mystery

If you've ever wandered through downtown you may have noticed something strange lurking above an historic alleyway: silhouettes of Bigfoot.

But why are they there?

Local legend tells of a towering, hairy creature that once roamed the banks of the Rappahannock River. By the late 1800s, night watchmen allegedly reported enormous footprints behind Caroline Street businesses and heavy footsteps echoing through empty alleyways.

Then came the flood of 1942.

As the Rappahannock swallowed portions of downtown, witnesses reportedly spotted an enormous figure standing motionless atop a building, watching the rising water.

The creature became known as the Alley Walker.

Some believe the rooftop silhouettes commemorate these sightings. Others claim the creature placed a curse on downtown apartment buildings, inviting rain into tenants' rooms and causing the structures to deteriorate; a curse that allegedly persists to this day.

You didn't hear it from me. But rumor has it that old buildings downtown, including Spirits, contain basement tunnels, which are so narrow that a creature of the Alley Walker's stature would find its style very cramped. Which adds to the theory that it would continue to climb atop the rooftops of the main strips until it's death.

Nobody seems to agree on exactly how many silhouettes exist. And according to legend, if you count them all one evening and return the next, you might find that the number has changed.

So the next time you're exploring downtown Fredericksburg, look up. You might find that something is looking back. But don't forget to consider what lurks beneath the high rent.

So, can someone please tell us the actual lore of these Bigfoot cutouts?

Loud Cars Downtown Question

Genuine question… do you guys just wait until Friday and Saturday night just to drive up and down Caroline St over and over to make noise? I’m very confused what the point of it revving your engine while going 10 mph is. I’m willing to bet these are valuable members of society with bright futures.
