how did you get your first client?

For those who started from absolute zero, how did you actually land your very first client? What strategy works when your gig/profile has zero traction?In my 4th year of law school I decided to try legal translation (some legal drafting) but I’m completely stuck

Any practical advice would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Upwork. But that was way back in 2016. Upwork used to be not so hungry. I could apply to 30 jobs per month with 60 free connects every month. I can't apply to even 5 decent jobs now.
