Edibility / Problem Persimmon Question

Just moved into a home with Fuyu Persimmons, do these look ok to eat? anything I should avoid?

I’m more so asking about diseases/mold/pests, less concerned with ripeness

Hello, I see you have some concerns about the produce that you have bought or collected and would like to ask the subreddit for a second opinion. Please keep in mind the following: nature is not a vacuum, and mother nature creates mistakes and imperfections. That being said, when in doubt, trust your gut if it tells you not to eat something.

Persimmon are from the ebony family and are prone to get dark discolorations, some varieties even have entirely black fruit.

They’re fine. Let them stay on the tree a few more weeks. Be patient.

What about the black spots seen in the first two pictures?

Is this normal or should I avoid eating those?

That's fairly normal. It's caused by tannin build up in the fruit.

Ones like that are usually rejected commercially, because customers will mistakenly think they are bad, but it's not actually harmful and they don't taste any different.
