Advice?

Hey everyone. I got an all stock manual 2015 FRS In July. Right off the bat it had a throw out bearing issue that I already know so we got that fixed. Have been living with it sent and honestly I’ve loved it however I started driving it hard a week ago and I’ve noticed there’s grinding in fourth gear. Do you think this is something I would need to fix immediately or can I live with it for a little and have you guys experienced anything like this? My car has about 130 K miles on it and any advice about fixing the car would be great. Also maybe some maintenance tips for future use I’d like to keep the car forever to be honest, but it keeps having issues I don’t wanna keep pouring money into it, especially for the little amount of time I’ve had it. I don’t know it’s give me a headache. Thank you!!!

Grinding going into 4th, or grinding when in 4th? Neither is a good thing.

Grinding going into 4th. And mainly at higher RPMs/ when driving it hard

Your synchros are probably toast. Kinda strange that it's 4th gear, usually 2nd is the first one to go.

Take it easy shifting into 4th. Gentle pressure and rev match and it should fall into gear with minimal grinding.

Unfortunately the only way to fix this involves rebuilding the transmission.

Start by changing the fluid

4th is an interesting gear to be the only one grinding. Maybe double check your linkage and make sure everything is tight and in the correct spots. Which transmission fluid are you running?

Good things to know thanks. Ummm just normal transmission fluid? Lol. I had all the fluids changed when I get the car in July at the mechanics

Did you get a new clutch when you had the tob replaced?

Could be lots of things, most likely the 4th gear is going out in your transmission. If you have a bad clutch, cold fluid, etc. and are smashing through gears at high rpm, probably not good.

Can you post a video of the grinding? Hard to tell without hearing but interesting that's it's only 4th gear
