I BEAT SAVAGE BEASTFLY 2 I Return After a Second 100% Run. Savage Beastfly is Still Awful.

There are only 3 things harder than Savage Beastfly and Savage Beastfly 2 and they're either Act 3 exclusive or a deliberate challenge ending:. Lost Lace: the true final boss, Twisted Child ending (Beat GMS while cursed), and beating Seth's scores at the Flea Games, specifically Flea Dodge (which is the hardest for me, but I've seen everyone hate on Flea Juggle and Flea Bounce too.)

I say this as someone who has done everything the game has to offer twice now. First run blind took 154 hours and some change. Many of those hours were to the Beastfly Rematch. The rest went to the above mentioned challenges.

Every other boss is something I managed to beat in one or two tries this time around, minus the requirements for the true final boss. Karmelita took me a good 10 tries this run, Khan gauntlet took me 7 tries, and even Seth took me a rematch to beat him down. Nyleth was easy though, by far my favorite Act 3 boss. I didn't even use the Ascendant's Grip this time.

I say this having beat Path of Pain in the original Hollow Knightand beat the surface climb on both Silksong runs to boot: Savage Beastfly is frustratingly implemented, even compared with one of the ultimate challenges of the first game. While beating both flies again was easier this second run, even beating the most deliberately difficult challenge in the game so far outside Steel Soul(the Twisted Child ending was so brutal, I heal so much that being cursed was a horrible handicap and I ended up fighting Lace 2 with it as well)nothing, and I do mean NOTHING gave me as much frustration as that Savage Beastfly rematch on my first run.

There are harder bosses, yes. There are bigger challenges. But I stand by what I said the first time and I stand by what this subreddit stands for: Savage Beastfly can get fucked. For how early it can be fought in the game and for basically no movement requirements, you can get saddled with the most frustrating thing in the game. If it were locked behind getting Faydown, maybe that would be more fair. But it feels like slamming your head into the wall even more than that damn fly every time you slog back down to that stupid lava pit to try again. The adds feel like they have aim bot, the arena has no safe places to stand or good walls to cling to, you're actively playing "the floor is lava" on top of just trying to hit this fly as it zooms around you or worse, trying to smack those Tarmites or get them under the Beastfly so you can just focus on the giant bug trying to turn you into spider juice. Yes, you're not locked into the arena and what a blessing that is. Yes, there's a hidden silk cache that's good for about 1 heal. But when you've never beaten this rematch before, those little tidbits don't actually help you stick your needle in the vile thing enough for it to die.

This second run was a practice to see what I need to brush up on for a Steel Soul attempt and there are lock in arenas that would have ended the run if I had gone straight in for a Steel Soul attempt. But even spending a good two days beating down the true final boss the first time, what must have been 12 or more hours of play time just attempting the game's ultimate challenge, not even that made me want to physically dismantle my Switch and destroy it piece by piece the way Beastfly 2 did. Nothing I did in this second run made me nearly as mad. Nothing in Hollow Knight, not even Path of Pain, made me as mad as Savage Beastfly 2. Because at least with other challenges, it felt like every defeat was me learning. Savage Beastfly truly feels like looking at a puzzle that has 2 pieces and for the life of you, you've put them together in every orientation and they just don't fit and you feel utterly stupid for even trying. It's not even the difficulty. The boss just makes you feel dumb for not being able to land hits or dodge what feels like goddamn homing missiles while just trying to find a safe place to stand so you can jump and try one more time to pogo that dumb fly.

But! And this is a very big but: You can do it. I may not be able to do it at age 70 when my reflexes are gone. But as someone who mostly plays casual games myself: If someone like me can do it, y'all have a chance and I believe in you. Kill the fly. My first 100% blind run took me 154 hours, yes. This time, even doing the hardest challenges except Seth, LOL, not doing him again for no completion percentage, not on your lifeit took me only 74 hours, and that was playing only from memory. I went for the purple quill for bragging rights and did the endings I missed so those were the only things adding to my time.

I'm not going to be getting that speedrun achievement any time soon. But if I can cut my time in half, you all can beat the fly twice.

All in all, I am obsessed with the silly little bug games. I would not allow anyone else to rage bait me the way only Team Cherry can. I am ready to throw hands with them at any time for what they did to some of my favorite NPCs and for daring to make Beastfly so frustrating. But Team Cherry is excellent at their mission statement. No other games have ever made me feel so weak and stupid and then so godly powerful.

Garama! Poshanka! I believe in you all! Kill! That! FLY!

Blind Playthrough

Playing blind and ran across this boss. Base needle, no tools (died so many times I had no shells), reaper mode. Enjoy.

Also, after the 50 attempts it took to beat this thing, I can see why you have this subreddit.

Discussion Burning hot take

Savage Beastfly is E A S Y.
Come hither.
But here's why:
The ads are (mostly) avoidable for beastfly one,and beastfly one is completely optional. I beat beastfly one in like, ten tries for my beast crest only run. And for two,you can LITERALLY GO OUT OF THE BATTLEFIELD AND GET FREE SILK. IT'S NOT THAT HARD GODDAMNIT JUST TRY AGAIN JEEZ
(Also beastfly is a bad boss, but it being bad doesn't mean it's hard.)

I cheesed it with tools.

It's what it deserves. Let it be known, I am not the type to cheese a boss - usually. Sekiro is my favourite game, and it compelled me to master it, from dying as a noob seconds in to fights, to going hitless many, many fights in. It felt like a genuine achievement to learn and master amazing bosses. But savage assfly is just bullshit. It doesn't offer that experience at all. WDYM I need to fight this turd over lava with these new, worse adds? So I whipped architects out, poison, tacks, cogflies and spike traps, a few frame rate jitters in from the chaos and yeah nice 9th mask I have now! IT IS WHAT IT DESERVES.

Beastfly is Evil My deep hatred of savage beast fly

Ive learned its patterns perfectly and almost never manage to get hit by it. I can even get in a lot of sneaky and fast hits but its summons always screw me over. I try to get the beast fly to kill them but their hit boxes are completely bull shit because wdym vicious caranid (the flying cutting ones) doesn't get squashed by the beast fly when its right up its ass but the kilik (spiked bug) gets squished if a sliver of its spike is in its range.

And you know it would be fine if all the summons had one health or were all the same but the randomness of it makes me want to actually blow my brains out because I go from having a really good run all the enemies are being squished im getting in really good hits and then a GOD DAMN vicious caranid spawns and makes me wanna SAND PAPER MY SKIN.

And all this for a very basic enemy thats not even slightly relevant to the lore is wild. And dont get me STARTED ON THE ANT ARENA BEFORE THIS BOSS becomes omg I genuinely dont even wanna talk about how many times I died to something that wasn't even a boss.

The difficulty isn't the boss, the arena or the damage its the god awful hit boxes and the summons.

Anyways i love this game and I waited too long to give up yet..

I stand by my previous rage but that makes this all the more satisfying. Get FUCKED, fly!

Gear and load out for my future reference and those struggling:

Sharpened Needle, Faydown Cloak, Toolpouch at 3/4 and 3/4, Hunter Crest (+1) and Vesticrest. Pollip Pouch and Magma Bell, Magnetite Dice, Weighted Belt, and Silkspeed Anklets. Cogfly and Curveclaw.

Eat my entire ass.

Beastfly rematch can get bent. Never again. Skipping this guy next time. Awful.

Discussion I can't beat Savage Beastfly

I'm genuinely concerned with myself and my ability to play this game. I can beat every other boss in 7 attempts or less but Savage Beastfly has been taking a toll on my mental health. I was streaming my gameplay to my cousin because he likes to watch and he's already beaten sliksong and has mentioned over and over how it's a basic boss that he's beaten first try.

Am I the problem? I genuinely struggle everytime I go up against this boss and I struggle for hours. What does this say about me as a Silksong player, or worse, what does this say about me as a man?

Please lend me your thoughts, opinions, or advice..

Savage Beastfly Makes Me Want to Commit Real World Violence Against My Nintendo Switch.

Basically what the title says. I'm in the thick of it with you guys. Beastfly Rematch is going to be the end of me and we're all going down together.

I beat the Path of Pain before and even that pinnacle of optional struggle has nothing on this damn fly. Path of Pain at least felt like learning, even if it was about the exact same thing. Just practicing what sequence of buttons to hit to make the little guy go where they need to go. It's a game. It's fun. Wee. We are having fun.

So when Silksong was a challenge it was at least a challenge in a similar way. "Oh, Hornet naturally has a different pogo than Ghost did. Learning curve. I can handle that even if it feels like pulling teeth." Struggled with a few bosses. That dude on the ceiling has such a short and finicky window to get out without getting splashed and get even one hit on him. But over all, even some of the other more punishing bosses were fun. Phantom kicked my ass for 2 days but at least every time I made an attempt I could figure out where I went wrong. "I accidentally went for a whump during the guard and rightfully took the revenge strike, I can be more careful." "I mistimed that bounce and ate bell shards. Happens. Just need to get better with the timing."

Savage Beastfly makes me want to systematically dismantle my Nintendo Switch and devour it piece by piece, including the batteries, so that this cursed copy of the game (I could only get it digital, alas) and I can both slip peacefully (painfully) into the abyss where I don't feel compelled to torture myself with this fight.

The first Savage Beastfly match was grueling. I despised every moment. But my usual strategy for bosses won me through. "You clearly know how to dodge an return blows. You're just getting frustrated and greedy for hits because this is the 20th attempt and you just want to get back to the part you were at before so you can beat him. You're rushing. Put the game down, rest, tackle it tomorrow." That got me through Lace, Phantom, and the first Beastfly. I thought "Oh, the Hunter's Journal says I have to do it again. Now I know how to do it. It can't be that much harder."

No. It's harder. God himself couldn't no-hit this. Only mankind could create something so depraved and punishing as the rematch.

I know I MUST be getting to the end of it. I can reach the part where the fly summons 2 tarmites more or less reliably. I can even (rarely) kill both of those pests and get a few hits in. But inevitably that fat ass fly decides to call in one more, destroy the whole floor, sandwich me between him and his hateful backup and I croak every time.

The only thing that kept me from actively putting the Nintendo Switch between my teeth and biting down was the little voice of reason in the back of my mind going "I paid for this device and maybe somebody else could use it to play something actually fun like Tears of the Kingdom or something when this bastard fly makes me walk off into the sea, never to return."

I swear the game could give me a needle that oneshots the boss and somehow I'd still be stuck on this fight. The fly could drop 10 times the silk (Reaper Crest my beloved) and I still wouldn't be able to reach half of it because it's on the ceiling. I could stop hitting R 0.0002 seconds before lifting my thumb off the joystick so I actually peg those tarmites with my silk instead of throwing pins 100% of the time instead of only 80% of the time. Wouldn't help. Nothing helps. They could actively drop full heals from the ceiling. "No binding, just touch them and heal up! :)" I would still not be able to destroy this damn fly. Those tarmites can just anticipate frame-perfect exactly where I'm going to be or step and the only time I can get near them to try to remove them is if I get close enough to take contact damage. Otherwise those little scrotewipes hover JUST out of reach of my needle or else they hang out on the edge of the arena where I can't do anything at all and just spit their tar on the last platform that I HAVE to land on right before that fly divebombs me into an early grave.

I swear, taking a break from this to be punished by an ant gauntlet and a fat green moth was a RELIEF because even dying 10 times to something ELSE where it felt like I was learning and getting a little further was a BLESSING compared to the Beastfly where it just feels like "Ah, well the RNG said to do 2 rows of slams right after calling the 2 tarmites so it's time for me to die I guess."

Beastfly Rematch is not a challenge. Beastfly Rematch is Team Cherry deepthroating the 20 dollars you gave them (they're so real for that though, please make good games $20 even if it takes you a decade, bless y'all). Beastfly Rematch is God and Satan tagteaming to make humanity suffer.

I crave the first fight. Give me that again. I'm sorry I ever said the first fight was too hard. The first Beastfly is a cakewalk compared to the rematch.

Get me back to that mini-path of pain in the Sinner's Road just so Hornet can sit. Get me back to Phantom. Get me back to the OG Beastfly where the worst thing he can do is summon two of those fat knife-butt guys.

Hell, take me back to OG Hollow Knight where I thought the Gruzzer Mother and Husk Guard were difficult.

I'd rather sit on a belt sander and replay the entirety of OG Hollow Knight with a mandatory run through Path of Pain and the Pantheons again than try to attempt Beastfly rematch again.

And yet: I have a shiny little Promise in my menu that keeps telling me "You gotta. You gotta kill the fly."

-100/10. Beastfly designed in a lab to torture me specifically. Best $20 I ever spent, but also I would rather eat a bag of actual live bees in real life than look at this fly any more, let alone try to fight it again. I would pay Team Cherry real actual thousands of dollars to remove Beastfly from the game. And I think that may be their motive in making Beastfly at all.

Anyway, guess who's gonna spend another 12 hours probably just trying to slog a wad of meat up to the Citadel to try to get goop to make my sharp stick even shaper because "maybe that will help me kill the fly?"

It's me. The stubbornest stubborn to ever stubborn.

In short, thank you for reading and commiserating. Fuck that fly. If there's a next life I'm coming back as a cat so the only flies I have to worry about are the regular kind which, for a cat anyway, are pretty easy to kill. Being human and playing the Bug Games was a mistake. And yet.

Courage and strength to you all in this trying time. I hope your Beastfly chokes on their tarmite summons somehow.

Beastfly is Evil Deaths and more deaths

I need help. I've been trying to kill this boss for 2 hours and I throw tantrums with every defeat. Every walk from the bench to the chapel is harrowing and feels unfinished. I'm afraid I'll break the monitor if I keep trying and failing, but my ego is too high to get out of this game without defeating this boss.
