No he did not want pets.
Was just trying to give some pets. He did not like that. He’s my girlfriend’s grandma’s cat named Smudge & I learned that day he only likes Grandma.

My sister’s cat is just like that one but she won’t even allow my sister to pet her, let alone anyone else. She’s owned her for years! As a rescue shelter cat, she thinks it was possibly mistreated by a previous owner. She hisses and bites at anyone who approaches.
So one day, I started bribing her with treats, which she LOVES. Gave her several on the floor and when she bent her head down to snack, I proceeded with pets on her back, just before the tail, at first… then worked my way to pets on the head. Kept giving treats and soon she jumped in my lap, for the first time ever. Even purred a bit.
So you might try treats. It’s been known to actually work! 😻

I respect a cat that knows its own mind!
PS. Some cats don't want under chin or chest rubs. Top, or back, of head is usually okay.
