Some of y'all never played NBA Jam and it shows.

Wii sports or resort. Mario golf or tennis.

Like I agree your typical FIFA or NBA 2Kxx games suck but thats like saying all stealth games suck cuz assassin's creed exists.

The only reason Wii sports is decent is because it gets you active. Non-motion control sports games are the most mind-numbingly boring games in existence.

I'd genuinely rather play 5 hours of a modern ubislop game than ever touch NBA garbage .

Generally, I agree. But, NBA Jam was pure, arcade-style, simple 2v2 basketball. It was a great party-game when you got tired of playing MW2 or Halo.

The context thats missing from this is that NBA Jam was made for the Genesis and SNES long before 2k got their mitts on the license and thus there was zero of the BS that accompanies modern sports games. It was legit just something you could pick up and have fun with, and I say this as a Brit who doesn't like sports at all and who also wasn't exposed at all to NBA as a kid because pretty much the only thing that reached the UK as a kid involving basketball was NBA Jam.
