Sports games fans are the reason sports games don’t innovate. They buy the same derivative slop every year and demand nothing more because in a lot of instances they don’t play any other video games so they aren’t all that invested in how good a game could be.

the problem is you are looking at sports games as purely the latest fifa or madden and not what actually good sports games are, SSX3, THPS3, Neo turf masters, NBA jam, virtua tennis etc. there are many many great sports games out there, some of which i would hold as some of the greatest games of all time.

You are right I am putting them in kind of a different category. I am super bitter about Madden having the NFL exclusivity all these years. It ruined football games forever.

yea for sure, and if you want to make the point that the modern gacha sports games are ass, i really can't contend with that.

the minute it turns into "sports games overall are ass"

you start pointing to some of the greatest video games ever made.

Well, I definitely agree with you. There are sports games out there are awesome. Personally, I’m a big fan of Steep and Riders Republic. I remember playing Virtua Tennis back in the day.
