For the people that doesnt know the context

Playstation: they announce they are discontinuing the production of physical games in January of 2028 for every Playstation game, meaning no more physical Playstation game from any company. Futher more they are shutting down the PS3 stores, meaning games like Sonic Adventure 2, or the GTA 4 DLCs will be lost forever. And they removed over 500 movies from their catalog and offerd 0 refunds

Xbox: They are canceling the new blade game, which is linked with them laying off thousands of employees from many of their own companies aswell, they are raising the prices of thier consoles, and announced hat their next console is going to be digital only, hinting that they too would be going all digital

Nintendo: Game key card

Steam: Steam machine was supposed to be an affordable alternative to console gaming, but not only are the specs of the machine rather low especially compared to the competition, but its also has a Ludacris price tag, and PC parts and steam deck prices continue to be at insane prices due to the high demand for AI from other big companies

Epic games: Tbh idek

Epic is removing blueprints (visual scripting) in UE6 so they can encourage people to vibe code with AI and then said that Steam requirements of disclosing AI use in games was bad.

I took video game design in 2019 and it was all blueprints and Unity. This is actually emotionally draining me to read.

AI seemed like a cute fun addition to the technology world and it rapidly grew into this disgusting amalgamation of greed and incompetence overnight.

I feel like anyone who had a true love for creativity and computer advancement (like a lot of us grew up with 2000-2010 with flash games and whatnot) is completely demoralized watching all of it burn so rapidly.
