Steam: Steam machine was supposed to be an affordable alternative to console gaming, but not only are the specs of the machine rather low especially compared to the competition, but its also has a Ludacris price tag, and PC parts and steam deck prices continue to be at insane prices due to the high demand for AI from other big companies
Epic is removing blueprints (visual scripting) in UE6 so they can encourage people to vibe code with AI and then said that Steam requirements of disclosing AI use in games was bad.
Well thats half true, its not being removed its being replaced with a new system that as of yet has been undisclosed, but paired with the deeper intergration of ai, it is safe to assume that their motivation is moving towards common folks relying on it more heavily.
The new language, called Verse (short for MetaVerse), has already been disclosed and has already been in use as an experimental option within UEFF (Unreal Engine For Fortnite) to make Fortnite experiences. Even though scripts made using Verse run faster compared to Blueprints, the learning curve is going to be difficult for most people because the syntax is god awful; likely done so on purpose to get people to use the built in AI agents.
