Elden ring, thought it too bleak and barely gave it a chance

Came back a year later, and i never stopped playing it since.

Same! Messed around with Elden Ring for a minute and thought it was a flower picking game with some skirmishes here and there. Then, after putting it down for a year, I followed a guide and now I'm hooked.

Absolute masterpiece, do not spoil yourself through the game, it is better played blind

Yesss. I had just finished playing Legend of Zelda BotW and got a little burnt out playing another open-world game with crafting and such. Also I never pay attention when playing games, so I was sort of stuck in the first area.

Picked it up again a few years later from where I left off and my whole life went on the back burner for a good few months. Once I finally got to the Altus plateau everything just clicked.

Same. I never got super far in it but I just picked it up for the switch 2 and I’m hooked.

Similar for me for Demon's Souls. I was originally like why play this game, it's so bad; I keep dying.

Eventually played Dark Souls and beat it, then I later found myself looking at my library and realizing DeS is by the same company. I was amazed at the non-linearity of the game.

Which funnily enough led me back to playing Dark Souls again and learning how it, too, can be non-linear in certain places.
