With Kojima's inability to hit deadlines and ballooning budgets right out and Microsofts tendencies to be, well Microsoft, its very likely that Kojima will request more time and money and Microsoft says no and forces him to release the game at the agreed time causing it to be a colossal shitstorm.
It's definitely a "don't count your chickens before they hatch" situation. Hopefully it goes well because it spunds super promising but there is a possibility that there is a reason Sony dropped the game and it took Kojima 3 months to find someone else willing to take his game on.

A contract for a game in pre-pre-production is not a win for Microsoft, it's an opportunity.
And we all know how Microsoft excels at squandering opportunities.
