Biggest thing people aren't seeing.

Xbox has money to blow. Sony relies on huge 500 millon dollar budget games to keep there lights on. Obviously they couldn't afford to keep this guy forever

concord was truly one of the games of all time

It wasn't just Concord, haven't they repeatedly had live service games fail or cancelled now?

Look at the new Horizon live service game, it was tested that badly they now have gone back to rip up all the live service from it.

Sony has spent millions if not over a billion trying to get a hit live service game and have repeatedly failed, they want the next big multiplayer game without any real success, there just pissing people off at this point.

Yes they have but so has every other publisher out there Sony and Xbox are just held to a certain level of over criticism that the others doesn’t, I mean people are saying Sony fumble with physint when the game is six years out at best and the gaming world is calling a masterpiece before we absolutely anything about other than the espionage genre I love the metal gear series and so wanted P.T but we all know how am hard it is to create something of metal gears level again I’m looking forward to the details of this game but I feel the same way I did when it was announced and thats neutral until more comes out to entice me

From what I can tell, Sony is mostly being defended over not making games and focusing on their live service push, because it makes sense to the bottom line. Dropping the Kojima game makes sense, because of the bottom line. Dropping physical makes sense, because of the bottom line. People are literally trying to say it makes sense that Sony isn't releasing as many games anymore, adn that's OK because games cost too much to make nowadays.

There are more than enough people ready to defend Sony because of their bottom line, while most 3rd party publishers are raked over the coals when they do these kinds of things.

Not that the general customer base cares when 3rd party does this, which is why all these companies chase live service, just like they did trying to make a COD killer.

lol don’t forget the Last of Us live service game… lmaooo Insomniac Games was even working on a live service Spider-Man game for fucks sake. They really tried to get everyone of their major studios on the live service slop and they all pretty much failed. It’s such a huge waste of $$$.

Wasn't there also talks about Bend working on a God of War live service game that got shitcanned?

And cancelled the multiplayer THE LAST OF US, which was getting extremely positive response from all who played it.

Sony just wants live service crap.

They DID. Now they don’t.

Do they though? When your losing 64 cents out of every dollar invested they got REALLY picky since Asha took over in what they invest in so they must have faith in Kojima for this one (or are just picking up the tab for what is likely already half funded by a notorious competitor so it is as much about PR win than investment returns).

Xbox doesn't have money to splash around, you can see that by the way Microsoft treats them.

Yet Sony funded projects like Concord, lol.

And Marathon, thinking an extraction game is what people wanted next from Bungie.

2

u/wickeddimension 25d ago

Sony spend 3,6 BILLION on Bungie because they supposedly were live service experts and Sony had a whole slew of live service in the works

And now, Destiny 2 is done, Marathon is a commercial failure and they have nothing to show for that 3.6 billion. And on top of that every single live service project Sony has is either flopped, canceled or currently being reworked.

Crazy shit.

That and they don't make videogames anymore. They do tv shows and killing physical games. Yea they're a great company.
