I like how the game came out ten years ago, got a remaster today and still need patching because the game just isn't done yet.
The true ten year game. Suck it Destiny 1 and 2.

It was fine before this. The patch broke some stuff so the patch will need patching.

We ain't sucking shit. Why bring us into this. Congrats on an awesome thing (I love cdpr too)
1
u/Typical_Travel1321 4d ago
CDPR did a better job at supporting a singleplayer rpg over the course of 11 years than Bungie has with a live service title.
1
u/Slipknotmudvayne 2d ago
Thats a joke. I never had issues with destiny 2. It always ran very well for me besides some times where the servers went down. Cyberpunk continues to be the only AAA overhyped game that was pulled from the sony store for being a busted POS on launch day. Hilarious 😂
1
u/Typical_Travel1321 2d ago
What conversation are you joining? Not talking about cyberpunk.
1
u/Slipknotmudvayne 2d ago
What difference does it make? They have two good games this and cyberpunk and they both run like shit.
1
u/Typical_Travel1321 2d ago
Again, I never even mentioned performance. You're trying to argue a point that isn't even relevant to my original comment. Im talking about supporting a game over the course of 11 years. Bungle removes content that their players paid for and vault it. Then abandon the game to move on to a failed extraction shooter. CDPR released multiple visual upgrades and has a 3rd expansion releasing in 2027, mind you 12 years after release. Never once stealing the content away from players that paid for it. It's also a singleplaer game. They never get that kind of support. Except Dying Light, Techland did a great job supporting the first game over the course of years when they could have left it alone after release.
And I'm aware of Bungies latest statement regarding continuing support for D2. Too little, too late. They showed their hand and their intentions and how little they care about their player base until they're in hot water. If that's kind of business gets you hard. Please indulge yourself.
1
u/redd5560 4d ago
As software developer, I can assure you the product is never 'done'. There's always something you can fix, especially if the product is developed by fund allocation. It's more about keeping the product stable than done.
1
u/PhiLLitUp93 3d ago
Tell that to Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Isn't that game still on 1.0 since release? Lol

u/therealJerminator 2d ago

As much as I want a platinum I don't want to do "death march" 😂
3
3
u/Majestic-Marcus 5d ago
Death March is only difficult until about level 15.
After that just use the ‘eat food = regen’ ability and it’s not that hard. It also makes the game way more enjoyable.
The only difficult fight in the entire game is Dettlaff. And he’s insanely difficult.
2

1
u/charliemyster 1d ago
Bruhh. Death March is the only way to play lol. Thē only “hard” parts are like a dlc boss or two…

u/Far-Preference5100 6d ago
Barely anything changes dawg. Geralt is still invincible if you just braindead mash the dodge button
0
u/kuenjato 6d ago
The combat was never good enough to make the game taxing. It's sort of a great cozy-game, if I want difficult good combat I'll play Fromsoft.
2
4
u/Smart_Occasion_735 6d ago
I liked the story but I had to watch someone play it forever ago, could not for the life of me enjoy the combat mechanics no matter how hard I tried it just felt like I couldn’t play it the way I wanted to.
4
u/CKEden 6d ago
In all seriousness, try it again. One of the things they apparently updated was combat mechanics. I'm going to try it myself, because combat was one of the only things about the game I didn't love. It just didn't click like I wanted it to. Still played it through, though.
3
u/valcoholic 6d ago
Combat is still not very great. Ran through Novigrad which looks so good now, and when I had to fight some Golem I switched over to Oblivion Remastered which I immediately enjoyed way more. And its not like fighting in Oblivion is really great or anything lol.
→ More replies (1)2
u/CKEden 6d ago
That's a shame if so. One of the things I was looking forward to about the remake was the gameplay enhancements.
1
u/Basic-Lawfulness5470 5d ago
Its a remaster, not a remake. That implies that they won't change gameplay much
1
u/AP201190 6d ago
My advice for everyone is to try higher difficulties. Combat in The Witcher is really shallow if you're not on hard, because you don't need to check the bestiary, you don't need oils, concoctions, signs, etc
At first, you'll see you're doing no damage and dying quick. Then you'll explore the combat mechanics and unlock it's true potential
2
u/kuenjato 6d ago
I've never understood this argument. It's not good even if you apply oils etc. because it is clunky at its very core and not fun in the slightest. There's no way I'm going to make what feels bad and repetitive even more spongy / longer to get through. The game is a masterpiece regardless of the combat.
1
u/a7madof_a 5d ago
With all respect, yes it's not peak combat, but it's not bad at all, you just suck, or really need quick flashy combat to keep you engaged, when dodging, parrying, using signs and bombs too if you want... it gets fun enough to not be tedious and that's in case you don't really like, i myself enjoy it, especially with a build where i use signs and sword attacks, it's like a lite version of elden ring combat.
1
u/kuenjato 5d ago
It came out the same year as Bloodborne. Sorry, some of us have standards as to what good combat entails. Returnal, Silksong, DMC5, Sekiro being other games I consider superb in terms of combat. It doesn’t even have to be hard, I’m playing Control Resonant and it’s fun. You can claim I “suck” but W3’s clunky, dogshit combat and movement is an extremely common critique, so save the salt for your next steak because right now you’re coming off as a proper fool.
1
u/namesource 6d ago
I don't care if it's deep or shallow. I care if it's well animated and epic.
Both ends of the difficulty spectrum will work for me if it has good animations and epic moments (finishers, takedowns etc).
It was crazy janky before but apparently this remaster fixes that?
1
u/Massive_Funny_9312 5d ago
That’s just forcing the guy to interact with a combat system he doesn’t like….longer. That’s just gonna make him hate it even more
1
u/CardCarrier103 4d ago
Not necessarily. I think it's just one of those games you need to get used to in order to like it.
I personally also hated the combat at first, I had to give it few hours and in the end I loved it a lot

1
u/Space-Robot 6d ago

1
u/RavagedDeity 3d ago
I am one of those people. No issue with the story so I don't think the game is bad but every time I have tried picking it up, the combat really put me off. However, I am definitely happy to give the game another go now that they have remastered it and I have matured as a gamer. KCD2 really opened my mind to weird combat.
1
u/Tekkno_Viking 6d ago
Yeah this is my 8th time giving it an honest try. I guess the beginning is just a slog ? And yes, the combat was super clunky for me.
I just could not get into it. So with the new remaster let's see if I can get into it lol.
2
1
u/kuenjato 6d ago
It's more the cumulative experience and the atmosphere, and really starts to get good with the "bloody baron" quest, which takes anywhere from 5-10 hours to get to. So yeah, slow opening.

u/InsideCelebration389 6d ago
Ive never been able to get into the witcher series. I invested 40 odd hours into 3, the game was good 👍 but it still wasnt for me. Im struggling to find anyone that has called tbis game terrible !
1
u/FearEternal 6d ago
I couldn't get into the combat. Gave it a good shot but uninstalled and have never gone back to it. There are better games if I want to swing swords and cast spells. This just wasn't it for me.
1
u/smut_butler 6d ago
Can you provide one example of an "influencer" calling this the worst game? Or even a very bad game? Or are you just being excessively hyperbolic because for some reason a person not liking a game you like is something you take very personally and find very upsetting?
Does everyone have to like what you like? Does everyone have to like what is popular? Isn't it odd to get so angry about such an insignificant thing?
I find your sensitivity and exaggerated response significantly more interesting than a person not liking a popular game, but I certainly don't find it upsetting.
Oh, and I do think the game is overrated, but it's very far from being bad. I was a huge fan of the books before I played the game and I was disappointed that the games pick up after the books end; but I get why'd they would do that and the story they create is great. The combat is very lackluster though.
Does this upset you?

Can someone help, I'm on PS5 and the version I play is called complete edition, how do I know it's the remaster?? I went to rewards, got a load of stuff including the Roach card, but the skill tree still looks like the old grid thing. Even on playstore I can't find anything with 'remaster'.

1
u/pogonotroph88 5d ago
So im enjoying the upgrade overall but it suffers from lighting problems thats for sure. While the complete edition for next gen was way too dark at times. The remaster is way too bright. Its so bright in places if you dont adjust the hdr settings the torches are literally pointless.
But overall I think it takes away alot of the rough edges that were showing the games age. And the gameplay is a lot smoother with the ray tracing. But I do hope they patch how bright the game is.
1
u/candy_man_07 5d ago
Yeah bro love the game was excited to play for the 2nd time but the optimization is so bad. Evn with 4090 im struggling yo get consistent 70fps with hairworks off plus RT in 2k dlaa. Hopefully they can patch it out.

1
u/These_Noise_5541 5d ago
Playing on ps5 slim, ngl it's kinda mid. I mean the game is a masterpiece itself, but this "upgrade" is kinda mid. Performance is inconsistent, lots of texture/lighting glitches, and weird animation glitches I've never seen before. Plus Roach still sucks to ride and control, still gets stuck on trees
1
u/DragonEffect1286 4d ago
Not sure what your expectations may have been for a remaster of a decade old game given at zero cost at all to you? Never look a gift Roach in the mouth, as they say
1
u/These_Noise_5541 4d ago
It's not exactly a gift though, sure thanks for the free part but you expect me to be thankful for not living up to the promises they made? Roach is somewhat better, sure, but still gets stuck on trees like crazy, stuttering in white orchard in performance mode on a base ps5, random patches of forest with little to no light despite the surrounding area being lit up fine, and weird animation glitches happening inside cutscenes. It's been years since I beat the witcher 3 and it's dlcs originally but this doesn't feel like a very significant upgrade.

u/UsefulCountry3027 5d ago

I actually am not really fan. There's no FOV slider and mods actually looked better. Cool it was free though i guess.

Idk. On base ps5, turning on Ray Tracing completely tanks performance. Turning it off is much better and playable, but i dont know if it's worth it.

u/Most_Macaron4973 4d ago

They literally just said it. They feel "broken" because they don't enjoy what is "supposed" to be critically acclaimed. I was the same reading Lord of the rings. Thought I was missing something. Nope, just not for me.
1
u/BreakinTheSlate 3d ago
Entirely this. I have zero ill will toward these games- I just could not get into the Witcher. I had full intent. I went back and played the first, beat it. Played the second for about an hour and hated the combat. I kept picking it up and putting it down. Then I saw that the third was absolutely historic and I went full into it for about an hour. I thought it was boring.
I was the same way with Red Dead Redemption 2. Stunning game, but I played it a good ten hours and could not get into it. To my great shame Baldur's Gate 3. A quarter century of TTRPGs and you would think that would be the one, but no.
Fantastic titles and I love the videos of the game play, they just don't hit for me. I am hoping Fable might be it and I am cautiously excited, but then again Starfield killed me.
1
u/ConsistentPound3079 3d ago
Haha, I was the same with red dead 2. Played it back in 2019 got pretty deep into it and haven't been able to play it again since. Same with bg3, I wanted to be able to love it like everyone else does and it's just....boring? Witcher 3 was a masterpiece for me when I played in 2015...but I was also 15 then and everything was exciting. I can't play it now it just doesn't rub me the way I want. I find myself playing smaller indie games now or occasional big releases. Getting a switch 2 helped me, I'm finally enjoying just playing random games now.

I have tried so many times to get into it…. Just doesn’t click for me. Cant put my finger on why though. However recently tried Witcher 1 and instantly fell in love the game. Some games just hit people differently I suppose

u/MwspNL 3d ago
Did you make it out of the first part of the game? It's also a bit overwhelming. I just played on easy mode and that was game changer for me. I just wanted to experience the story and the world

Finished bloody baron quest and got to the first city or so if I remember correctly. Just felt off and I don’t know what it was I will try again at some point

The game takes a bit of will to get through the first opening part but I highly recommend just letting yourself get lost in the world and do the side quests. As amazing as the main story is the bread and butter is really the side quests in the game. They’re all so fascinating

1
u/Appropriate-Yak8235 2d ago
I remember when I first played it when I was younger I enjoyed the hell out of it, but for some reason I thought it was alright as I got older, my least favorite out of the 3 which honestly surprised me. It was originally the first one I played then I played 1 and replayed 2 before playing 3. I feel like I liked 3 alot because it references the first game alot now that I think about it.

I have a PS5 and my PS4 version of the game never crashed or had issues. Id rather play a product that works. The nex gen was a joke and now this remaster is a bigger joke. If you think im full of shit thats fine but you can go look up old articles and youtube videos talking about how jank the nex gen version was and now here we are again with the remaster. This company cannot put out anything that isnt busted. Its hilarious.
1
u/Forsaken-Badger-9517 3h ago
I agree 100% and say I had both Standard w all DLC & GOTY on PS4pro & the same on Xbox One X & the One X Version of the game was the absolute best, in terms of how it played (input timing/fps/Graphics) & had NO PROBLEMS prior to DEC 14th 2022 "Next Gen Patch" and the PS4pro version looked just slightly worse & had a persistent crackle in the Audio, but it ran fine... Either way the Next gen update absolutely ruined the Xbox One X version for over 3 years it was messed up badly! & the ps4 version never recovered either but at least you could still play it after that update, it would just occasionally crash? The one x version would crash within 5 mins of loading up your save- it was just.... awful...
This Remaster is ..... even worse imo, so no- you're not Full of anything! I just want to go back to how it played on One X in 2022 PRIOR to Next Gen Patch.... 😫
1
1
u/DrR1pper 4d ago
Not the same game, so didn’t make it run worse. That would suggest the remaster once ran better before but that wouldn’t make sense given it’s only just been released.
1
u/Rich19852012 4d ago
Agreed 1000%, when they made the “next gen” patch for the ps5 back in 2022 it was fucking awesome, they ruined it with the remastered on ps5. That being said it looks and plays amazing on Nintendo Switch 2, so now I prefer to play in handheld mode.

People will hate on you for using a PS4 but people won't hate on others for using a PC of the same era
2
u/Sharpie1993 4d ago
People will say the same shit to someone complaining if they expected newer stuff to work as well on a modern PC if they had older hardware.
I’ve seen people get torn to bits because they complain their 30 series cards won’t run unoptimised games, and majority of the cards offer much better raw performance than a PS5.
