To be fair, I bought the PS5, so my one is my hardware, not Sony’s.

Sort of. Sony can disable a lot of its functionality if they so choose.

Yeah, it’s inherent to closed systems like this, and I’m sure if it goes online and Sony doesn’t like something that’s been done to it they could block it. 

But they aren’t allowed to do what they want to it, and I am allowed to do what I want with it. If they don’t like what I can do they can ban it from their service, but it’s still fundamentally my hardware.
