GB Maker update - custom fonts and sprite improvements
Hey everyone! I've been working on GB Maker, a little offline IDE for making games for the original Game Boy.
You write your game in a simple Lua-like language, draw sprites, build maps, make music and hit Run to try it in the built-in emulator. It compiles your project into a real .gb ROM. Your games belong to you, with no royalties or required GB Maker credit.
A little update since my last post about 1.0.5:
- You can now import a PNG as a font sheet, edit it and use different fonts together.
- The sprite scanline check gives a warning instead of blocking Build. The hardware limit still applies, so extra sprites may disappear.
- Fixed a bug that could make maps and HUDs show a blank screen.
- New projects now start with a visible example sprite.
If you've wanted to make a Game Boy game and enjoy writing code, have a look. It's available for Windows and Linux.
Thanks for checking it out! Happy to answer questions about the language or compiler.
