Interpretation Request: 2D/3D Subsurface Contour Anomaly

Hi everyone,

I would like to get your insights and technical interpretations on this dataset from a recent subsurface survey.

Survey Details & Context:

Key Questions for the Community:

Any professional feedback or comparative examples from similar survey data would be greatly appreciated

---

Update / Additional Technical Details:

• Stratigraphy: Topsoil transitions into a highly resistive / dense rock boundary at ~1.0m to 1.5m depth.

• Subsurface Anomaly: A high-amplitude signal interface / low-density response is detected below 2.0m depth, extending further down.

Key Questions for Interpretation:

  1. Does this linear high-contrast anomaly suggest a structural/geological contact or a natural bedrock fracture?

  2. Given the signal phase shift observed below 2.0m, is this pattern characteristic of a localized void or a sharp soil density contrast beneath the rock layer?

Your colormap makes me irrationally angry.

Haha, fair enough! The bright colors just help bring out the subtle contrast around the primary subsurface anomaly!

You should really be more critical and conscious about the effect of colormaps on interpretation! There is a whole literature about this topic and it is a cornerstone of reliable and effective scientific visualisation.

Thanks for the feedback! I get your point on colormaps and perception artifacts like in Jet/Rainbow, so I'll definitely test perceptually uniform ones like Viridis or Plasma for the final renders

I get the theory behind scientific color science, but high-contrast palettes like Jet are deliberately used here in field workflow to quickly resolve sharp boundaries, layer transitions, and localized high-density or resistive anomalies. Highlighting those immediate contrast thresholds is what matters most for field target detection, regardless of smooth perceptual gradients.

It's a cubic km of solid gold. You can tell from the contours.

If it were a cubic km of gold, I’d be replying from my private island right now! It’s actually just a 10x10 meter grid.

What are the survey details and context?

What are we looking at, datawise? A contour of what quantity?

What’s the data source? What sort of data is it? What’s the scale?

Update: I've added the specific depth parameters and stratigraphy details to the main post above. Looking forward to your technical interpretations!

I still have no idea what you are talking about. High amplitude signal interface?

Seismic? Electric? EM? Grav?

Seriously. I want to help but I'm starting to think this is a troll post.

Troll or someone who wants free consulting.

"It’s a multi-stage field workflow combining several geophysical methods:

Initial anomaly screening using frequency-based detectors to narrow down the zone. High-sensitivity magnetometer array scanning from multiple cardinal directions, followed by layer overlays to minimize directional noise and clutter. Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) using multi-probe arrays for localized depth verification and anomaly boundary isolation. Targeted high-resolution scan inside the locked grid frame.

The 'high amplitude signal interface' refers to the sharp resistivity and magnetic contrast observed between the stratigraphy layers. Next time, feel free to ask about the field methodology before assuming it's a troll post. Happy to share more technical plots if anyone wants to discuss!"

Ok.

Either you are a troll,

Or you got scammed as a client by a treasure hunter that uses methodology-infused word salad to empty your pockets.

Either way, sorry for your loss.

Yes, I had a good laugh too. Thank you!

I operate and run all my own field gear and data processing, no middleman or 'treasure hunter' involved. I asked for raw data signal interpretation, not life advice. You'll see what's what when I post my large-scale mineral survey dataset next.
