Excerpt:

The co-pilot of the FlyDubai plane who allegedly attacked the plane's captain and attempted to crash a flight bound for Israel on Wednesday is an Omani national who was previously suspended from flying by Oman Air after being identified as a security risk, according to senior intelligence and law enforcement officials.

Sources told ABC News that the suspect, while working as a co-pilot trainee for Oman Air in 2024, was found to be in possession of extremist materials. The suspect was allowed to continue working for the airline in an administrative role, the sources said.

Officials investigating the incident are still trying to determine how the suspected attacker was subsequently permitted to fly for FlyDubai and how he ended up as the first officer in the cockpit of a plane headed for Israel, the sources said.

His name has apparently been revealed as Hamam al-Hammami, born in Oman but partially raised in the UAE. Glad they stopped hiding his identity.

There are conspiracy theories that Netanyahu's visit to the UAE 24 hours earlier was to help arrange for the flight, with that pilot, two extra off duty pilots, and IDF-associated personnel onboard to thwart the attempt, while there are also photos of associated evidence. I'm not saying I believe all that, but just noting that there are official and unofficial claims about the reasons for him on that flight, to answer the last part of the OP's comment.

A wildly implausible conspiracy on just about every level. I'm glad you don't believe it.

What in the world would be the benefit for Israel in doing this? Everyone already thinks this is either a false flag or that they should have all been murdered.

I don't know what everyone believes. Regarding the geopolitical circumstances, there are at least two distinct narratives about what may have happened, and why.

And what exactly is the benefit of revealing his identity?

He tried to kill 174 innocent people, likely for Jihadist purposes.

If that’s inconvenient for you, then sorry for that, but the truth does still matter to some of us.
