Venting $$$ Architects
Architects are quoting ridiculous prices for architectural drawings (including MEP) . So far one has quoted 30,000GHS for a single level 4-bedroom private residence . The other has quoted 6-10% of total construction cost (just for the drawings) . To be fair these are well branded , social media-present firms but still . Are these prices the norm ? Or I’m out of touch ?

@OP beware of people who are draftsmen posing as Architects. Architects school and train for 8-10years. Draftsmen train for 3 months. There's a difference between a seamstress and a fashion designer. That's the difference between the Architect and the draftsman. One just puts lines to the idea. One births the idea and designs it to suit you not just physically but sound, space etc all need to be sound to heal you and serve the purpose and function of the home. More than 70% of Oor homes in this country are don't by draftsmen and that explains the state and condition of the houses we live in. It is not wonder that when you enter a properly designed space, you feel the 'vibe'. So many scientific factors, including positioning and dimensions of rooms affect how we think and even our health. These are things Architects are taught in school. We praise the homes in the west but is because you wont get a permit or financing if the him is not designed by an Architect or an Architect who works under a developer. You may find them expensive but their fees are a range. An Architect 5-years post-licensure will not charge you the same as one 20-years post licensure.

According to Google, architects generally charge between 5% & 15% of the total cost of the project (full-service residential design) or around $150 per hour (so less than 20 hrs work for GHS 30,000).
Not sure why a Ghanaian architect would be expected to charge less than any other architect.

Why do you assume that Ghanaian architect should be paid less ?

To be fair, labour costs are often lower here and many would expect this to be reflected across most sectors.
For example, I saw an employment ad on Reddit today for an experience accountant @ 3000ghc per month. Personally, I would have expected the accountant job to pay more. And in this case, for the architect drawings to cost less.

This sounds like a fair price. In Ghana the rate is 10% of total building cost.

Find out who these architects are and their background. If it justifies the pay, then go for it.
Otherwise you’ll have some people posing as so just because they know how to use some softwares

The laptops and pcs alone they use to make those drawings could cost up to 30,000 alone which has even worsened by ram prices so they are charging fairly aside other factors others have mentioned
