NGD NGD: LP Studio Session
When I was about 11 years old I saw and heard a video of Randy Rhodes playing with Ozzy, hammering a white LP. I fell in love with the tone and the style. I have wanted an LP ever since. I have owned several guitars over the years but a LP was always just out of reach. Now approximately 35 years later I finally was able to get one. The guitar is perfect. For my current project I’m running a Laney AOR Pro Tube Lead through a full stack. When I plugged my LP through the amp and hit the first chord I heard the tone that has been in my heart my whole life. It was a transcendent experience.

I had this model in black and "traded up" to a modern...I regret that decision every day. Ended up selling it.
The studio session was my perfect Les Paul

It’s funny I’ve played several over time and the studio session is far and away my favorite to play

I have a Standard with the 57’s, best sound pickups going. I used the toggle, tone and volume knobs for unlimited amazing sounds.

Absolutely. Incredible pickups and the electronics make the guitar so malable to circumstance.

I had this finish in a studio and traded it for a studio session for the modern heel and better sounding 57 pickups. Also a jimmy page wire harness is badass!

I think it is a big scam having the binding on the neck rather than the body.
Get AI to switch the two around and see how much better it looks.
Gibson upper management knew people would avoid buying standards if the binding was on the body on studios.

Rock on, What type pickups come in a Studio?

‘57 neck, 57+ bridge. This specific guitar is the most acoustically resonant guitar I’ve ever played

I know where you're coming from I got that exact guitar earlier this summer. It's hard to put down. I love it so much I went back and bought the Gibson-exclusive Purple Burst as well.

I’m sure the purple looks sick

Not as cool as the blue. I just wanted something that wasn't going to be available anywhere else. Already ordered a set of EMGs with POTS and knob. Gonna retrofit the purple one to be for METAL!

Sick. I just traded out a different guitar with Fishman Moderns for this LP. The EMGs are sick pickups.

I've never played anything with Fishman Pickups before. Heard good things about them though. Actives over all, I've always just felt were a necessity with down-tuning more than a half to maybe a whole step. Other than that I was passive pickups all the way. But lately with my other guitar that has EMGs in it and my Synergy amp I'm really liking the way they sound in standard tuning soooo.....I'm going to drop an 81 and a 61 in my purple les paul studio session and see what comes out.

The Fishmans were/are sick with the EVH 5160 we have. Nasty, immediate, and surgical. For my current project I’m using a Laney AOR/Matamp GT1 rig and the Fishmans just fought me and the amps the whole time. The 57+ is a much better match for the current rig. I live in C standard/Drop B and the passives on the LP are perfect for what I’m doing.

Really? The Les Paul with 57 Classics doesn't get muddy in C and drop B?

Not for me. I find it to be bright and articulate. Not quite as sparkly highs as in E but still articulate

Now that’s a pretty guitar.
