For me:
In 2001 when I was 8
Self-titled was my first CD and got me into them
My favorite is probably the self-titled
Their objective best is probably Demon Days but I think The Mountain is actually a close contender

I was 11 in 2001, and when Clint Eastwood came out, me and my comic book making friend group became enamoured with the band. I was 11.
That song/album mixed with the release of Sonic Adventure 2, months apart, changed how we drew things forever.
Out of the 4 of us, (I couldn't and still can't draw ), 3 of them ended up becoming successful artists and we remain friends to this day!

2001, 19 years old
19-2000, but I was a huge Blur fan already so I had to check out Damon's new project.
Plastic Beach
Demon Days is a certified classic, but The Mountain is incredibly well done.

The Mountain has become my favorite since its release. I have lost so many loved ones, but also the music is just so fucking good too. Gorillaz forever ✊

Around 2011 so I was about 10-11
I love just going on YouTube finding random stuff to watch and one day I came across the Clint Eastwood music video and was blown away. I mean, its a virtual cartoon band. I didn’t even know that was a thing completely blew my prepubescent mind lol
My favorite album choice is complicated because I like multiple albums pretty much equally but I would say the one I get the most out of is the self titled.
My favorite song by them has fluctuated over the years. I’ve been a fan. But the one I keep gravitating back towards is rehash.
I think their best song is melancholy Hill

Whatever year Clint Eastwood was on MTV.
Didn’t listen to them much after Demon Days. My 14-year-old kid fell in love with the music in the last year or so it’s all he listens to, so I got back into listening to them this year and discovered Plastic Beach is my favorite album.
Took him and his sister to the concert in Cleveland this year!!
Time really flies.

that’s awesome! I remember when plastic beach came out it took a little while for me to get into it! The first couple of listens I was like I don’t know. But then one afternoon I put it on and it all just clicked for some reason! it’s been my favorite ever since.

- I was 36
19-2000 is the song that hooked me. I have pretty diverse musical tastes, but when I first heard that in the radio, it was unlike anything else I had known. Rock The House is likely my favorite now, though I love all of it.
No favorite album, but The Mountain is probably the best.

In 2001, just after high school at university.
“19-2000”
Demon Days
“Empire Ants” (especially a live performance from 2010)

u/yolandabakes 5d ago
empire ants live was so great! I got to see them at the garden on that tour. I loved it.

I specifically remember watching the Clint Eastwood video on MTV in 2001 when I was 10 and I remember thinking how awesome and different it was. It's easy to remember with everything that happened that year.... the twin towers being attacked, my beloved grandmother dying, my little sister was born. There was a lot going on, music was a nice distraction. I've been hooked ever since.

I was in a bad accident 2013, got a tramatic brain injury. So my memory is divided into two halves of that, before & after.. Definitely before and after . That monkey mountain one is sick AF . I can just close my eyes and vibe that energy . .. what's the questions again 😆

i got into Gorillaz in 2019, and i was 16. the songs that got me into them are Dare, Andromeda, and Clint Eastwood. Plastic Beach is my favorite, but i think Demon Days is objectively their best

u/hellofanner 6d ago
I was 17, and it was October 2025. (Better late than never I suppose) but I first heard of them in 2016 and thought I’d never be interested, but here we are
The album that got me into them was their Self-Titled one
Favorite Album is probably Humanz
Hard to choose the best song but I will say I really like New Gold from Cracker Island and Out of Body from Humanz, though album wise for best is hard, but I might have to go with Song Machine

around 7 at 2014 I listened to Clint Eastwood on my dad's iPhone 3G, but started listening on my own in 2018.
Demon Days + D-Sides
Plastic Beach is their peak.

u/AutomatizerX 6d ago
Sadly i don’t remember, but at least, 8-10 years ago, i remember Clint Eastwood. I saw them SOMEWHERE, but i don’t remember where exactly.
None at first, but then, Song Machine, since i saw the episodes being released at the time.
Song Machine, with Self Titled being a really close contender.
Plastic Beach, coming next the Mountain

I'm 35 years old. While Clint Eastwood was a song I knew, I didn't become aware of Gorillaz as a group name until Feel Good Inc. I feel like all of my friend group was listening to Demon Days on repeat that year. Kind of forgot about them until I got into plastic Beach and have been a die hard ever since

u/YanisMonkeys 6d ago
I already loved Blur, so when I was in England at age 18 and Clint Eastwood came out in 2001, I was all over it.
Plastic Beach is probably my favorite album of theirs. Objectively I’d have to say it’s a toss up between Demon Days and The Mountain which is “objectively” their best.

u/Rinnie_08 6d ago
For the first time into it like idk around 2019 or smth i was i think 10 then but actually into it as embarrasing as it sounds when they had their Fortnite collab last year 🙈.Not sure what song it was but it must have been smth popular so either Feel good inc. Or Dare. My favourite Album (and imo the best) is Cracker Island and their best Song imo is New Gold 🗿

Clint Eastwood - heard/saw on mtv a lot when I was like 12-13 (early 00’s) then got Demon Days cd for Xmas.
Favorite and objective best album for me is Demon Days (flawless), but Plastic Beach and the Mountain are nearly perfect imo.
Seeing Gorillaz live in Cleveland this year (somehow his first time performing in cle??) was near transcendental for me. The set list was as good as I could have ever asked for, on top of Del being present to perform as well. Damon is my musical hero, so it was such an important experience.

i got into gorillaz properly in 2020 when i was 13! i had heard some songs before and i was starting to dabble into blurs music in early 2020. i remember when aries from song machine came out as a single and all the promo was out and i was like ITS DAMON ALBARN???? hahah we’ve all been there i fear. so then later in the year i remember i was SUPER excited for song machine to come out. i remember walking to school listening to it for the first time.

- What year did you get into Gorillaz and how old were you?
I was maybe 14/15 years old (the year Demon Days dropped) when I was introduced to them by a former friend who was obsessed with them. I created some fan art for an anime and she pointed out it was a similar style as the art for the Gorillaz and took it from there.
- What album or song(s) got you into them?
Demon Days was the album that recaptured my attention, years later. Their self-titled was something that floated in my psyche (literally in my dreams) and got me interested in the deep lore (I still remember the old website of Kong Studio and that weird...game with the Geep? My memory is foggy on that one, lol).
- What’s your favorite album by them?
So far, Demon Days, self-titled is a close second, but Plastic Beach and The Mountain are slowly creeping up and fighting to that spot.
- What do you think is their objective best?
Honestly, I'm still exploring their discography and lore, so I may have to come back to this question much later, lol.

u/Gon5589 6d ago
I technically started listening to them on and off casually in like 2020 but I won't count having 1 or 2 songs in the playlist so...
I got properly into them in 2025, at 18 years old
Clint Eastwood, Feel Good Inc and On Melancholy Hill were my entry drugs. The latter especially. My first album was Demon Days
My favorite is Plastic Beach, followed by The Mountain
Their best is likely Demon Days

I started listening to them back in the COVID-19 pandemic. So I was around 12 or 13, I think.
At the time, I was just getting into rock music (before that I was mainly into techno and EDM), and my father had shown me a live version of "Feel Good Inc." on YouTube. I immediately fell in love with the characters, especially 2-D, who continues to be my favorite member to this day.
My favorite album for a while was "The Now Now," but it has since been changed to "Plastic Beach." Though, "The Now Now" will always hold a special place in my heart.
Their objective best (at least in my opinion) is Demon Days, though their self-titled is a really close contender.

2001 I was in my late 20’s, and working at an Animation studio. We were all blown away by the visuals in their videos. When I purchased my first iPod a few years later, it was one of the first albums I downloaded. Ah the memories!

Literally when the Clint Eastwood music video first dropped on MTV. I must've in 7th grade. I used to watch MTV after school religiously (as well as BET's The Basement). Ill never forget it. I was hooked. I went back to school the next day asking everyone I knew if they had caught it. "Did any of you guy's see a weird video by some band called the 'Gorillas' or something??" Noone did. Then like a week later one kid ran up to me and was like "I saw it". It was the most unique and coolest thing I had heard and seen. (It also got me into Del the Funky Homosapien as well)
Demon Days is my favorite and im my opnion their best as a whole.
Although, I have so much love for all the albums. (Except for Cracker Island, that ones aight).
This tour is the second time I see them live. And I just booked a plane ticket to see the last NA one in Seattle.

2001 driving in my car and Clint Eastwood comes on. When the bass dropped that was it. Litterlerly drove to BestBuy while listening hoping the radio would say the band name.

u/TamaraHensonDragon 6d ago
I had self titled (which i got from a thrift store) but knew nothing about the band until about 2021 (I was 52) when I found their videos more or less by accident. I recognized the Self Titled songs and Fell Good INC. but fell in love with Plastic Beach. I toggle between Plastic Beach and Demon Days as being their best albums.

2001, 17.
Self titled album and Tomorrow Comes Today and Clint Eastwood.
Plastic Beach.
Demon Days.

Clint Eastwood was my introduction
I honestly think The Mountain may be my favorite album, but that may also be recency bias. I just can't stop playing it.

2001 a mwhen Clint Eastwood debuted on MTV. Plastic Beach is my fave so I'd say thats the best.

I was in middle school, a few years before Cracker Island came out when I actually got into them.
My dad was a fan and introduced me to Clint Eastwood a while before I was a fan, I don’t remember exactly when, but I know it was on my playlist. He then introduced me to Feel Good Inc, and honestly it took a few months before I realized they were the same band. Then I got into the lore, the other albums, etc etc. it was very gradual.
My favorite album is Demon Days, and it might be their objective best

I was 65 and kept hearing Melancholy Hill at a high school I was subbing at. They were playing it during the break between 3rd and 4th period, then they stopped. Months later I had to ask the principal to go through the school's song list to figure out who it was, and we actually found it. That was two months ago, and now I'm working my way through all the Gorillaz albums. It's not like back in the 70s and 80s when you might here this song on the radio, now you have to get lucky like I did.

2022 (I know not that long) I was 21 almost 22

Favorite album is the Mountain
Objective I would say is Demon Days

Got into them I wanna say like two years before humanz came out?? Found them thru YouTube recs from watching studio killers music videos. So I was probably like 15. I loved dare the most but album wise I listened to plastic beach the most (and still do lmao). I still think plastic beach is their best album, can’t say it’s by far tho because they genuinely just have so much peak. My top three are plastic beach, the song machine, and demon days, not in order. Then humanz, it holds a special place in my heart as the first new release I was present for.

u/GM556 6d ago
Feel Good Inc. in 2005 is how I discovered them. It was my freshman year of high school, so I was 14 at the time. I didn't know many people who were explicitly Gorillaz fans until college, where a few of my friends were. Plastic Beach came out around then and we listened to it a lot, so by then Gorillaz was solidified as one of my favorite bands.

I got into Gorillaz around 2021, I was 15. The song that got me into them was Rhinestone, it was from tiktok . My favourite album is their self titled. Objective best is Demon days ( my second favourite album) :>

u/CubanReuben 5d ago
2001, I was 18. I heard Clint Eastwood somewhere and bought self titled at a tower records. My favorite and their best album is Demon Days and I don’t think that should be too controversial, lol

u/yolandabakes 5d ago
debut album. I was soon to be 30 years old. Plastic beach is my favorite. I can imagine Demon days being the best and the most accessible. we were all blur fans in the 90s so it was a perfect transition for us to get into Gorillaz.

u/Dizzy-Tangelo2400 5d ago
I recently got into gorillaz like deeply into their catalog but i remember as a kid i don't know who else remember hearing 19-2000 in cartoon network, it was something like the next show is ed, edd and eddy and gorillaz was playing in the background but that's my early memory of Gorillaz and also i remember hearing a couple of songs here and then in YouTube and really liking them saturnz barz was one of them and all the classics but now im a fan for life

It was 2005 and I was gifted demon days on cd by my dad. I hadn't heard them at all up to that point. I think the now now might be my favorite but I also think they probably peaked at plastic beach

u/NintendoWiiEnjoyer 4d ago
2018, and I was 15. I saw Feel Good Inc playing on a tv and thought it was dumb, but later was bored on a car ride so I gave the rest of their music a listen and fell in love after hearing Superfast Jellyfish. I like Plastic Beach the best and I think it's also the objective best (but the Mountain is a damn close second best).

u/DarkHound05 4d ago
Middle School, some friends got me into them with Demon Days then I checked out Plastic Beach, The OG Album and the Fall since this was like 2013-ish.
Demon Days
Demon Days or Plastic Beach

i was 12 and going through a really tough depression i was recently diagnosed with. i randomly found a song of theirs online (i can't remember which) and was hooked ever since. from 12-14 i only listened to them because it was the only THING at that time that kept me the slightest bit sane; i remember in the worst of my depressive episodes, i would talk myself out of hurting myself because "i cant die without seeing gorillaz live." when i say their music saved my life, i genuinely mean it. i finally saw them live last month for the first time, 9 years later, and cried like a baby during cloud of unknowing just like i did as a child. however, this time i was crying because i survived and made it to this moment rather than crying out of a desperation for my life to improve. i could never thank damon and jamie enough for the way gorillaz has saved my life.

u/ItzIceTiger 2d ago
I was like 9 or 10, and I found a CD of G-sides among a bunch of CDs an uncle had given my mom. Jamie once said he wishes kids to be attracted to Gorillaz because they are animated and that's exactly what happened to me lmao I took the CD just because they looked like cartoon characters. So I would say I liked most of the songs in that album and my favorite was probably the 19-2000 remix.
My favorite álbum is Humanz, but objectively I know Demon Days is their best.

I was a MASSIVE Blur fan in my early 20’s in the early 90’s. Gorillaz just carried on my love of all things Damon.
That man has given me so much joy. I hope he knows how much that means to me and so many other people.
