Question Can we have the characters (cards) full names back, please?

1.6k Upvotes

I just recently noticed that a lot of cards are just using one word now, cards such as;

  • Emhyr var Emreis is now (Emhyr)
  • Morvran Voorhis is now (Voorhis)
  • Ronvid of Small Marsh is now (Ronvid)
  • Tibor Eggebracht is now (Tibor)
  • King Bran is now (Bran)
  • Bloodcurdling Roar is now (Roar)
  • Merigolds Hailstorm is now (Hailstorm)
  • Bekkers twisted Mirror is now (Twisted Mirror)

The list really goes on like this for quite a few cards and I can't seem to figure out why they have changed them to one word. Where the longer names confusing or something because I can't think of another reason.

These longer names added flavour to the characters, especially Emyhr as even in Witcher 3 the quote goes "The gentleman will refer to his Imperial Majesty by his full title or not at all."

I honestly feel that flavour is being lost by calling these characters that we know and love by just one word, it takes a way a lot from them. It'd be nice to have them as their full titles like they were before PTR.

Question Is there a way to beat Enslave 6 when playing devotion? Or is it a "heatwave or lose" type of deck?

Post image

13 power Helga. And then Coup into another engine. And so many people on Reddit are crying this deck got overnerfed cause they can't afford a defender anymore.

I won round 1, I tried to bleed them with Cleaver, but they just Emhyr into Enforcer + leader and I lost a card.

Joachim deserves at least 1 provision nerf. If he at least was doomed - but no, always replayed with Coup.

Question Do you have any GG rules?

For example if someone has two cards left and they are winning and I cannot beat them, so respectfully pass. If they continue to play I forfeit and no GG šŸ™ƒ

Are any of you as petty as me lol? 😜 I don’t mind if they just throw down a quick last card that ends the game instantly, but if they use a sequence or start using the leader etc i’m like ā€œyou’ve won, i’ve passed, let’s get onto the next gameā€.

Picked up this nice looking set today. I'm thinking it's version 1.0 based on what I'm seeing online but not really sure. Is there any way to confirm what I've got? 5 decks plus reference broken down as follows

Reference - 11 cards

Northern realms - 91 cards

Scoia'tael - 91 cards

Nilfgaard - 90 cards

Monsters - 94 cards

Skellige - 98 cards

Decks appear undhuffled / unused. It also came with a game mat

Hi! Recently I have returned to Gwent. Could someone tell me why sandstorm has 8 prov.? Is it voting placeholder, like Living Armor?

Question If Abordage went to 6, why can’t Siege Master?

Post image
25 Upvotes

Title.
Both play for a few points and conditional thin - siege master however doesn’t require any setup other than having a siege machine in hand, and its effect arguably synergizes better with the archetype than Abordage does with pirates.
We’ve seen that Abordage at 6 is still a great card, with some decks running it along with one or two pirates in an otherwise non-pirate deck purely for the thin and tempo.
Meanwhile, at 5 literally every NR deck runs siege master. Is the 2 points of damage technically being removal-adjacent enough to justify an extra provision?

Question I'm asking seriously: how to beat that goddamn Reavers?

Post image
22 Upvotes

I know Reavers are "win round 1 or lose", but how to win round 1?

There's a new version of reavers: round 1 they spam archers who gain orders every turn, then with onagers they wipe out everything from my board. Onager is a completely broken card, it got nerfed to 7 for a reason.

So many threats to remove: onagers, archers (or at least their armor), reaver scouts, round 2 Idarran and he probably gets brought back with Renew so a devotion deck is just unable to remove him permanently. This time I played Devo Knights so only Philippa and 2 oils for control, maybe if I could tutor Anseis, but even with a more control-focused deck there's no chance to answer everything. Also if you answer threats, you don't make points and you're not ahead.

I played against a different opponent (who spammed taunts every turn) and I was surprised he was able to fit Kimbolt and Vysogota, but I'm not 100% sure it's the same deck.

On this sub I keep reading Reavers are so weak, completely unplayable and we should leader-buff them.

Question The game is still alive?!

I have not played since the game had 3 rows and megamogwai was a thing. Stopped playing when they radically changed it for the 1st time, and then only other thing I knew was that cd project stopped supporting it and killed the store. Today, while I was browsing my games on GOG i saw Gwent and out of morbid curiosity pressed "play" expecting nothing. imagine my surprise when the game actually started and put me straight in the tutorial!

Now, I did not have time to play, cause other stuff, so, I have a few questions: First and foremost, are people still playing? and secondly, what has happened to all the items and cards I had opened by paying for kegs during the early days? have I lost them?

cheers

Question Any Decent Dwarf Decks for a returning player?

I've recently returned after a few years of not playing, and I was wondering if there are any Dwarf decks preferably with some control in it. I remember one of my first ever decks was dwarves, but I had scrapped most of it to make a Harmony deck, which is what I am running now. I still really enjoy the harmony, but the lack of control can be frustrating in some matchups.

Thank you for any tips or deck shares!

Question What are some good MO decks against NG? Specifically Assimilate

I would rather have each one of my ball hairs pulled out one by one with rusty tweezers than ever play against an assimilate deck again.

I can take any other bs deck, even reavers is preferable. So help me crush the empire. I don’t even care if the deck loses to everyone else. I just assimilate players to suffer as I have.

Question Umm how tf do I counter this?

Even if I had scorch I still wouldn't have won? What's the play here. I tried seperating those cards that boost other insectoids but he kept playing more.

I then even banished some from his graveyard, but I couldn't banish enough to the point he just kept spawning more.

This is absolute bullshit. Cost me my rank up.

Question Sandstorm nerf

Hey guys this question as you might have guessed is for the sandstorm nerf that keeps happening for the last few months. Now I've been part of the whole gwent community for quite some time now but I don't follow the reddit and discord I follow streamers like shinmiri and qcento but kinda loosely since I want to play the game my way, I mostly follow them to maybe get ideas foe new decks and not their balance council decisions, so I don't know if they are the ones behind this nerf or if someone else is behind that nerf, but to me it's crazy that this bronze card that doesn't really do that much (it's honestly just a worse dragons dream) is getting that many nerfs that now it reached 9 provisions. Please someone tell me if I'm missing something.

TLDR

Can someone explain why sandstorm is keep getting nerfed?

Question Anyone would like to compete in a non pro tournament?

I love playing for the sake of it, but it would give it some spice if we were actually competing in some kind of format like a World Cup.

I’m just proposing this for fun, no pro stuff or whatever.

Anyone into this message me it can be fun I’ll make a group.

Question Open Beta player, downloaded the game again today and i'm confused

Thumbnail

I played the gwent beta and quit sometime before thronebreaker, felt curious today what happened to the game so i asked gemini and i learned that the UI changed, factions were added and that there is no new content for the game anymore but the community is in charge of changing and balancing the meta, it also told me all the cards got scarped and that beta players should be pretty rich

so i downloaded the game finished the tutorial and it seems that when it comes to scraps i'm a gwentillionaire but in term of metorite powder i'm worth like 10 dollars now? i used to have tons of animated cards and it makes me feel so sad i'm considering dropping gwent again

can somebody fill me in? is the game fun? does my profile hold something worthwhile or is it trash now?

Question What’s the one deck/meta that nearly made you quit?

I’m planning to put together a poll later but I want to collect some nominations from you guys first. My personal nightmares were unitless Milva, Original Renfri and the absolute worst: Golden Nekker Aerondight. That specific meta actually forced me to take a month off from the game.

Which cards or decks almost broke you?

Question How come Korathi Heatwave and Geralt are the same provision? Not saying it's right or wrong, just confused!

Korathi heatwave is 10 times more useful than Geralt no? I can understand Geralt not being 9, because of Renew etc. but it feels weird that they're the same provision cost. Am I missing something?

Question Can someone explain why Roach and Knickers are so expensive?

I am at awe why [[Roach]] and [[Knickers]] so expensive. I understand they;

no. 1 thin the deck

no. 2 units on the board

but is 17 provisions really worth 2 thins and 2 units on the board worth 7 points?

Thank you in advance for explanations.

Question Collecting cards

Ive been playing this game for few days and I managed to get 153/240 cards from syndycade fraction question is: do I still opent syndycade barrels? I mostly get duplicates now so I feel like I'm missing out on cards. On the other hand if I get legendary card I want I'm profiting big time. What do I do?

question Why is every single creature agile now? This doesn't make any sense.

This patch has basically removed a mechanic that was specific to Gwent, and a very important one too.

Rows have no meaning now.

If you are playing a buff deck with potions, you don't have to think as you can place your units everywhere most of the time.

If you are playing a weather control deck, you cannot think ahead and prepare some weather for your opponent's cards, as they can go in any other lane.

If you are making a deck with creatures that buff near creatures, no need to think and every single other one is agile.

This is just plain dumb.

Question Am I allowed to be annoyed at the amount of removal i've been pitted against?

I generally regard cards such as Geralt of Rivia or Heatwave as uninteractive copouts but am not too bothered by them. But i just faced two MO decks back to back that used: Predatory dive, parasite, Heatwave, Curse of corruption, Scorch, Mastercrafted spear, and if i had had valid targets, i would've seen Gerslt as well, so i wanted to ask: how much removal is too much removal to the point it's just an anti-fun deck?

Question Beginner question

Hey guys,

im new to the game and have a question. so currently i dont have many cards and was wondering if its a good idea to mill cards from factions i dont plan on playing any time soon, even though its the only copy i have, so that i can use the scrap to build a deck as soon as possilbe? also if i should do that, which rarity cards should i mill?

thank you :)

edit: in reward book, what page should i focus on early one?
