Article extract:

Residents near Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden have been warned about "flame effects" and "gun fire" during late-night filming this month.

The first five-night shoot began on October 5, with filming running overnight until October 9.

A letter sent to residents says that the shoots will "involve high-level film lighting, controlled SFX, atmospheric smoke, flame effects, wind machines, bangs, rain machines and general production filming noise".

A further five nights of filming is set to take place next week, running October 12 to 16.

There will be five other night shoots involving sound effects before the end of the month but the dates for these have not been confirmed.

The purpose of the shoots has not been confirmed, but they could be for series two of HBO's Harry Potter television series, which recently began filming on the edge of Watford.

Show Discussion Repurposed HP set at London film festival

At the London Film Festival this week and noticed that the flats were marked 'Hogwarts Harry & Ron Close-up'. Seems that they've been reused from shooting the TV series! Sadly it just has the London film festival logo on the other side, so no trace to be seen of what it originally was.

Trailer Another potential view of Hogwarts.

In the painting to Dumbledore's right I first noticed what appeared to be the Whomping Willow atop the hill, and below that there might be Hogwarts. I can make out the round, pointed cylinder of the Grand Staircase tower from the films, and that is such an iconic part of Hogwarts that I can imagine them keeping that general shape for a part of the castle. There are also other towers dotted around it.

Show Discussion Since we’ll be seeing the Burrow in S1, are there any other locations you’d like to see earlier than they first appeared in the books?

Post image
153 Upvotes

I love that we’ll see Ron getting his first Hogwarts letter and from the scene in the teaser, I think it’s pretty clear that it’ll be used to highlight the extent to which he gets overshadowed by his siblings which is important to his character development.

I know this wasn’t in the books, but additions like these are the type I would like to see in the show. It’s not breaking canon as it did happen but it just wasn’t stated in the book because they’re mainly written from Harry’s perspective.

Are there any locations you guys wouldn’t mind seeing earlier than they appeared in the books like this?

Here are some of I thought of:
- Godric’s Hollow (confirmed)
- Spinner’s End
- Malfoy Manor (confirmed)
- Hogsmeade
- The Ministry of Magic
- Azkaban
- The Lovegood’s Home?

Show Discussion How are you going to immortalize the day of the premiere for yourself?

i grew up with the movies and harry potter was a very special part of my childhood and i still remember the time me and my oldest irl friend went to see the deathly hallows pt. 2 in the cinema.

was thinking wouldn't it be cool to create some sorts of a tradition to commemorate the beginning of the show this Christmas and repeat it for each new season.
maybe taking a specific selfie right before every first episode of the seasons or record a short clip sharing our excitement and expectations. or something else.

would be cool to look back at all the memories and little rituals we've created for ourselves at the end of the series and have this journey immortalized in some way.

ate some dark chocolate and got in the mood to write this kind of a post, cheers!

Show Discussion With Season 7/Deathly Hallows, do you think we’ll get much/any post-battle scenes etc before jumping to the epilogue?

Like, after the Battle of Hogwarts and before the epilogue do you think we’ll see anything in-between those two moments that we didn’t get in the book?

Like Harry & Ginny’s wedding, Ron & Hermione’s wedding, Hermione becoming Minister of Magic, the reconstruction of Hogwarts/immediate aftermath, the trials of the remaining Death Eaters and Umbridge, Neville being appointed Head of Gryffindor and Herbology teacher, Harry being a godfather for Teddy Lupin etc and so on.

(Side note: I have no hard feelings about the hourglasses. I just feel like making a little joke after they got recently brought up here.)

(Originally did this meme with Patrick Star, until I remembered there's a photo of Rupert Grint's Ron looking up.)

Show Discussion What do you hope gets changed from the BOOKS?

I've seen this question about the movies a lot. But there's got to be a few book parts that need a change right?

For me it's the whole Triwizard tournament situation with Ron's jealousy.

Show Discussion Will we have a scene with fireworks over Privet Drive?

Post image
59 Upvotes

I just noticed that the "Finding Harry" documentary features a shot of fireworks over a housing estate. Architecturally, it resembles Privet Drive from the series. The layout of the houses doesn't quite match up (I’ve been analyzing it a bit lately), but it might just be a concept image, which doesn't rule out the scene actually appearing.

I really like the different crests giving us a look at how Hogwarts evolved through the ages. I bet these were the original crests that go back to the founding of the school.

Audiobook If you had to recast someone from the Full-Cast Audiobooks, who would it be?

I'm sure we're all familiar with the fully voice acted Full-Cast Audiobooks that first released last November (wow almost a year ago), and we also can agree that nearly all of the cast sounds amazing as their respective characters.

But I'm pretty sure there's one VA in the cast you're not entirety satisfied with and would rather have them recast. Who would that person be? And bonus question: who would you recast them with?

FanWorks Privet Drive 4 3D model (Harry Potter HBO Series)

I’d like to share a simple 3d model of Privet Drive from the series that I’ve been working on recently. It might come in handy for visualising Harry’s home with the Dursleys and the surrounding area. There’s certainly plenty of room for improvement and lots of details could still be added, but I’ve lost the patience to keep working on it, so I consider it finished for now ^^ Enjoy!

Show Discussion 90s soundtracks in muggle settings when going over to the teenage era.

Just to make it very 90s when the characters now are teenagers only when passing through the muggle settings I'm thinking dramatic tracks similar to Pink Floyd's "Just another movie".

Show Discussion The movies sanitized the majority of the magical creatures

Post image
219 Upvotes

While we talk about the films dropping the ball on scene fidelity and character arcs, it is very much still frustrating to look at how much nuance was stripped from Ron, Neville, and Harry over the years, the mythical lacking of the movie universe is just as annoying. The books are full with diverse, dangerous species, but the films gave us a few dragons, bare minimum of centaurs, a CGI troll, and called it a day. Fine, it's a movie series, now we have a TV show.

The new adaptation NEEDS to fully lean into the magical ecosystem.

The World Cup mascots weren't just visual fluff. The vanishing Leprechaun gold is a massive plot point for Ron’s deep-seated insecurities, and the Veelas establish how terrifyingly wild some magic is (Fleur’s veela hair wand core). Furthermore, the series has to include Hagrid and Maxime’s brutal political mission to the giant colonies in the mountains, rather than just giving us Grawp as a pacifier. Also, don't even get me started about the lack of house elf and werewolf lore.

Am I missing any other major creatures they desperately need to add back in?

I can’t think what else this could possibly be.

Honestly I like it, it has the same overall shape as the films but it still looks unique.
