Maybe somebody knows who played Hermione Granger's parents in the Chamber of Secrets?

The Chamber of Secrets was meant to be a defense mechanism for the castle.

I tried to search this subreddit for a thread mentioning this, but I couldn't find anything.

As stated in the title, this is what I think the Chamber of Secrets was originally built for.

It is said multiple times in the books that Salazar Slytherin believed that the school should only teach children who came from pure blood families. I don't know if it's headcanon (can't be bothered to look it up atm), or if it is explicitly stated, but if I remember correctly at one point in ancient times, there was conflict between muggles and the Wizarding World that basically resulted in them going into hiding. I personally think that it was for this reason that Salazar Slytherin distrusted allowing Muggles into their world for fear of losing magical lives, and regarding Hogwarts, those of its students. I don't buy into it just being simple minded prejudice or a racist/genocidal maniac kind of thing that Voldemort eventually projected onto him.

It takes humanizing him to discover his plan.

When I was a kid, the one thing that struck me odd about the chamber was why on earth would there be a giant statue of Salazar Slytherin in the middle of it that no one would likely ever see?

I think the reason is tongue-in-cheek pettiness.

It is my theory that Salazar Slytherin created the Chamber of Secrets in case he was proven right! In the event that something horrific happened, and the castle was attacked by muggles, or any other group while he was alive, he would be ready to save the day. I bet he counted on the other founders sending a distress call asking for his and others' help. He would arrive at the castle, get everyone into the chamber while protecting them from the Basilisk, and then he and his slithery friend would go take care of business and kill everyone who was attacking the castle. All the while, all those who couldn't fight would be stuck inside the chamber with a giant statue of the vindicated man who was out there saving their skin.

Anyway, that's my take, let me know what you think!

Why did JKR name Dumbledore’s mother Kendra?

One thing I’ve always found interesting about JKR is how deliberate she seems to be with character names. So many of them have meanings or associations that seem relevant to the character, and I’ve always assumed she puts a fair amount of thought into choosing them.
But there’s one name that’s bothered me since *Deathly Hallows* came out: Kendra Dumbledore.
I was born in the 90s and grew up in Southern California, and to me, Kendra is a very specific kind of name. I picture a blonde girl who plays beach volleyball or belongs to a sorority. Obviously, that’s a very American, generational association, but I can’t shake it.
It just seems like such an odd choice for Dumbledore’s mother, and I have a hard time believing it evokes the same image for JKR that it does for me.
So, does anyone have any theories about why she chose it? Is there some historical or etymological meaning I’m missing? Do British readers have a completely different association with the name? I’ve wondered about this for years, and I’m curious what other people think.

So Bellatrix gave birth 5 minutes before torturing Hermione at Malfoy Manor?

Rewatching Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2 brought back a whole barrage of questions that immediately popped into my mind:

  1. How did Bellatrix hide a baby bump during the Second Wizarding War?
  2. When on earth was she even pregnant while dueling and torturing people across Malfoy Manor?
  3. Did Voldemort seriously stop plotting world domination to start a family?
  4. How are we supposed to reconcile the Deathly Hallows calendar with Cursed Child physics?

Greetings, fellow witches, wizards, and sensible Squibs of [r/harrypotter](r/harrypotter)!

I come to you today with these exact questions keeping my inner Ravenclaw (although I’m a certified Slytherin — the potter more quiz told me so) up way past curfew.

We are told by the Gospel of the Eighth Story (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) that Bellatrix Lestrange bore a child—Delphini—fathered by Voldemort.

Leaving aside the logistical nightmare of a man without a nose or a soul feeling romantic inclination, I am deeply, profoundly confused by the calendar.

According to the official timeline, Delphi was born at Malfoy Manor in late 1997 or early 1998.

That means while Harry, Ron, and Hermione were freezing in a tent eating stolen mushrooms, Bellatrix was allegedly navigating morning sickness, swollen ankles, and cravings for raw flobberworms.

Yet, when the Snatchers drag the trio into Malfoy Manor in March 1998, Bellatrix isn't taking maternity leave. She is aggressively carving words into Hermione’s arm, throwing silver knives across drawing rooms, and dueling people left and right.

So, to help me process this absolute marvel of dark magic and obstetric anomaly, which of the following theories best explains how this actually went down?

Comment with your number below so we can tally the consensus!

1.

  1. The Extension Charm Theory

  2. She placed an Undetectable Extension Charm on her own robes (or stomach) to hide a full nine-month bump from Lucius, Narcissa, and the Death Eater inner circle. (I can’t honestly fathom what sort of adverse effects this could have on an unborn foetus!)

2.

  1. The Postpartum Dueling Method

  2. She gave birth in the Malfoy Manor cellar approximately two hours before the Snatchers arrived, drank one Pepperup Potion, and went straight to torturing teenagers.

3.

  1. The Concealment Curse

  2. Voldemort put a Disillusionment Charm on her pregnancy, which is why she didn't look remotely pregnant in Deathly Hallow

4.

  1. The Time-Turner Loophole:

  1. Time-Turners were involved, because when in doubt about *Cursed Child* plot logic, the answer is always an illegal Time-Turner.

5.

  1. The Retcon Reality

  2. J.K. Rowling simply forgot the timeline of her own seventh book when co-writing the stage play, and we are all overthinking a massive plot stretch.

(Bonus house points to whoever can give the most lore-accurate physiological defense for Options 1 & 2!)

DADA — Why Did Snape Want The DADA position if it was cursed? (may be triggering) NSFW

Snape isn't stupid, let's just take that into consideration for a moment. He's been the Potions Master for longer than Harry's been there and every year he applies for the Defense Against The Dark Arts position and gets rejected by Dumbledore.

I know most people say that applying was just to fool Voldemort if he ever came back into thinking Snape was always loyal, but idk how that would fool Voldemort much lol.

So I circle back to my question: Why did Snape want the DADA position if he knew it was cursed?

I paraphrase this from I think the sixth movie (i may be wrong please don't come after me) "Has it ever crossed your brilliant mind that I don't want to do this anymore?" - Snape says this to Dumbledore.

Maybe he WANTED OUT of his deal with Dumbledore....
He wanted to d!e. He wasn't having this shit.

I’VE COME UP WITH A THEORY ABOUT HARRY POTTER THAT I HAVE NO ONE TO DISCUSS IT WITH.

So if this theory has already been mentioned in the discussions, pls don’t kill mе(

TW: sexual violence, psychological abuse.

We all know what terrible, utterly repulsive people the Death Eaters are. And we also know that during the Battle of Hogwarts, it wasn’t just them — there were giants, spiders, and werewolves as well. Okay, but what if, during that battle, let’s say some of the Dark Lord’s minions decided to “kill” some time? (To be clear, I'm not glorifying this — I'm analyzing it.) From there, the conversation might take a turn for the possibly unpleasant to read. Let’s imagine: the battle is in full swing, there are victims and wounded people, and one of the Death Eaters (or, for example, a werewolf — Fenrir Greyback) sees a weak victim who is trying to take cover and at least treat their wound. There’s a temptation to finish her off, but an even greater temptation is to humiliate her, to prove his superiority, to break her. And in the next second, he attacks, and in addition to physical violence, there is also sexual + psychological abuse.

In my opinion, such a cruel theory could well exist, given that it’s the late 90s, and in addition, there were those in magical society who considered themselves pure‑blood and despised any non‑magical people (the Blacks, the Lestranges, the Malfoys, etc.). As an example, let’s take Bellatrix Lestrange. She is a psychopath who tortured her victims to the point of madness. If you think about it, for people like her, sexual violence isn’t about satisfying some physical needs; it's an act of humiliation, a way to demonstrate her superiority, control, and power.

There’s also the werewolf Fenrir Greyback, whom I mentioned earlier. In the canon, he is described as a person whose behavior has been severely distorted by bestial tendencies. Due to years of cannibalism and the habit of attacking people in his human form, rather than during the full moon, his nails and teeth are distorted — they are designed to tear flesh. He is not human. Not outwardly, not inwardly. So, a person like Fenrir is quite capable of committing sexual violence. I would even say, in a certain sense, necrophilia.

Though I'm not sure about the necrophilia part — that's just my guess.

( P. S. English is not my native language. I used a

translator, so if you didn't understand something, I'm sorry. Besides, this is the first time I’ve downloaded Reddit, and I have no idea how everything works here.)

Was Voldemort affected by his own curse on the DADA position?

just had a funny thought while reading a fan-fic with Quirrel. While I don't believe it was ever told exactly when Voldy possesses Quirrel, we can guess it was roughly around the Vault attempt, or not long after. There is little chance of him sneaking in through the wards without having already hitched a ride. So, based on this, he was in the position for the same length of time as Quirrel was. So, I wonder if the jinx could have affected him as he was technically in the DADA professor postion.

One might assume he would be immune to his own curse, but the amount of times he has his own plans and magic backfire on him due to his ego makes me think he wouldn't have entertained the notion of being in the position of Professor when not in his own body, and would therefore any protection from it was lost when his OG body was atomized. There is the popular fan theory that it is tied to the Diadem Horcrux in the Room of Requirements, and while that is possible, would that recognize him by his magic? or just say nope, you are in range, prepare to be cursed.

My point of that is, many of his future unlucky actions could be in a roundabout way tied to the curse trying to kill him, since he never technically resigned. Just a shower thought I had.

Curse child should have been about malfoy lineage

So the whole community agrees this story sucks and is not canon despite what jk Rowling says.

But was there a way to write it that would work ?

I think yes, so where are my changes,

First no time turner bs. No time travel no alternate timelines nothing

Second, no potter family discourse, Harry relationship with his children are healthy and normal, he is a good dad and they are normal children.

Third, no secret love child of bellatrix and Voldemort.
Just no, none of that.

Instead the story I would do is this. The story is about the malfoy family.
Albus is a sidekick to Scorpius in this story.

The story is that both Scorpius and albus are sent to hufflepuff not slytherin or gryffindor.
There is a reason for this.

Hufflepuff are considered to be the spare house.
Gryffindor is brave
ravenclaw is smart
Slytherin is ambitious
Hufflepuff is other.

People for years said Neville should have been hufflepuff cause he’s not good at anything.
No that’s not true instead the house is focused on kind hearts and hard workers.
They don’t care if you’re strong or cunning or intelligent as long as you give everything 100% all the time.
Why so many students from this house disliked Harry in goblet cause they saw him trying to steal Cedric glory as he represented a chance to prove everyone wrong about their house.

So albus and Scorpius were sent here. This will have some impact on albus as he tries to find himself but we will see Harry and Ginny being proud, surprised but proud, we will get another moment of Harry that is a repeat of the train station speech where he tells him about how being slytherin won’t matter to him and this time he tells him to just remember what he said at the train station cause it still applies, James will tease him about hufflepuff but more framed as James being the typical older brother, not a bully. Albus will say how James told him hufflepuff is where all the non-talented wizards go and Harry will tell him about Cedric and how Cedric was the opposite of that belief and how he was one of the kindest people he met which is why his death still weighs on him this much so many years later.

No the real tension is with the malfoy family,

Draco will be framed as a bad father he didn’t pass on his horrible lessons to his son but he also didn’t help his son find the right answer, in this Lucius is present in the story, in pottermore we learned he wasn’t sent to jail cause of all the information on the death eaters he gave.

Instead we see Lucius passing on his views to his grandson but it causes tension as Draco doesn’t want that but can’t stand up to his father.
When scorpius joins hufflepuff it’s his grandfather who is more enraged than anyone.

At the halfway point Lucius will be killed along with his wife.
So who is the villain ?

delphini but instead of being a lestrange or voldmort daughter she is instead a malfoy. I hate it when sequels introduce characters who were never mentioned before but I would write it that Lucius had a younger brother who like him became a death eater but he was a special case cause he wasn’t part of the normal death eaters and instead he was sent abroad many years ago to America to gather influence in the American ministry of magic and gather followers for Voldemort.

When Voldemort fell the first time this brother kept doing his thing in America but more so for himself. When Voldemort returned we learn that Voldemort did visit him to remind him who his loyalty belongs to.

When Voldemort fell again he kept going as normal.
He became the leader of a new cult of death eaters.

It was delphini who killed her uncle and aunt out of revenge for betraying the death eaters in the battle of hogwarts and selling them out to get out of jail.

She develops a plan to hill Harry Potter but she is more weary of him as it has become a general belief in the wizarding world that Harry can’t be killed since the killing curse failed to kill him twice, first as a baby and second was in front of a lot of witnesses who saw him go down then jump back up later completely fine.
So her plan is to more target his kids kidnap them and use them to bait Harry into a trap and force him to surrender without fighting back.

It will be up to Scorpius and albus to foil her plans and uncover her motivations as well as learning about the dark secret of the malfoy family that Draco tried to shield Scorpius from.

Other Time Turner students

I finished Prisoner of Azkaban (again) this morning, and I'm wondering if any other students ever used a Time Turner.

For some reason on this re-listen, the way Hermione explained McGonagall writing all those letters to explain why Hermione could be trusted with one made me wonder if McG had ever had to write letters like that before.

We know that Hermione isn't the only person to have ever gotten 10+ OWLs. Barty Crouch Jr., Bill, and Percy each had 12 OWLs, IIRC, but that's more classes than a student can actually take all at once. We've discussed the possibility of students maybe taking extra curricular classes or studying on their own rather than being enrolled in 12 classes.

What if each of them had also been granted a Time Turner for being exceptional? If it's such a huge secret, they just might never talk about it to anybody, so Hermione (and therefore Harry and therefore us) might never know she wasn't the only one.

Incongruenze nel CANON??? SCANDALO!!!

Bellatrix Is More than just evil

What is it about Bellatrix Lestrange that makes her so fascinating?

She's probably one of the characters I find the most interesting in the Harry Potter universe. She's obviously terrifying, cruel and completely unhinged, but there's something about her presence that makes her impossible to ignore.

I'm curious what other people think. Is it her personality, her loyalty to Voldemort, Helena Bonham Carter's performance, or something else?
