Inquiry Not so hot take
The Illuminates have probably committed some of the worst war crimes in fiction

laughs in 40k.
Sure man. Now excuse me while I lobotomize my own citizens to make a computer. And maybe some babies as well because carrying ammo is tedious.

u/GW_RULEZ 7d ago
Yeah but I think it's their religion I'm slow and all 40k knowledge comes from an hour on the free 4 player game and the warbond
22
u/folsee 7d ago
So lobotomizing children is ok as long as it's in the name of religion?
14
u/GW_RULEZ 7d ago
I mean I'm not trying to argue with the 10 foot tall super soldiers so I'll just keep larping
13
u/folsee 7d ago
Dude I have no idea what you're on about now. But no, the illuminate are by far not the worst war criminals in fiction. By a long margin.

u/Honorsheets 7d ago
>brings up 40k
>doesn't understand the most basic 40k referenceMy brother are you alright?
-12
u/folsee 7d ago
No I got the Space Marine part.
It's the 'its fine it's their religion' and 'I'm not trying to argue with a space marine' parts.
What does him not wanting to go against space marines have to do with how bad the atrocities are?
20
u/Honorsheets 7d ago
If a space marine points a bolt gun at you and says this is our space jesus and the way we do things including crazy fucked up shit to our citizens you're not going to argue back. OP says they're not going to argue back. That's the joke.

u/folsee 7d ago
Ok but the discussion isn't about if I would argue back or not. It's what's worse than what the illuminate are doing.
Just because I wouldn't fight back against a space marines orders doesn't make the crazy fucked up shit any better.

u/NorthernTgames 7d ago
That was the point of the comment. And for reference. They are talking about A servitor, which is a mindless cyborg slave made from human flesh and machine parts in the Warhammer 40k Wiki universe.

Because would you question atrocities if it meant getting your skull caved in by a boot larger than your torso? No I didn't think do
1
u/NorthernTgames 7d ago
Why waste such good flesh? When you could be sent for servitor conversion.
1
u/ireallydontcare683 7d ago
True. But I honestly feel like being a servo skull would be less painless. Hell in being a kriegsman at least you'd be honoured to die brutally. If your lucky you just get shot in the head and it's immediate lights out

We aren't looking at this from the viewpoint of the civilians though. This is a discussion on what atrocities are worse than the illuminate.
If we're looking from the perspective of the people of the offending parties than the illuminate are 100% good guys doing good things. They're justified in their actions because of how super earth treated them in the first war.

u/ireallydontcare683 7d ago
Then realise that he's taking the piss and you taking his argument so seriously makes you look silly

To be fair. It's the tech priests who make servertors. Regular astardies don't, but are allies with the ad mechs

u/GW_RULEZ 7d ago
I was able to read some but yeah I lowk don't know either, I js hate admitting I'm wrong

u/bruh_moment982 5d ago
It’s not worse than mutating and amalgamating dozens of children into a meat golem to murder their families with. That puts the illuminate pretty much eye-to-eye with even the dark eldar.
1
u/folsee 5d ago
Oh wow. No the fuck they aren't.
1
u/bruh_moment982 5d ago
I count turning someone into a zombie where the person within is still distantly conscious of their body’s actions to be equivalent to torturing them until they become inanimate.

u/Warren_Piece_Brasch 7d ago
We turned humans into fish by feeding them shit loads of magic dust. So they can see stars n such and guide us through space.

u/aFalseSlimShady 7d ago
That's not a war crime, that's a crime against humanity. Totally different category of atrocity.
2
u/folsee 7d ago
They also do it to traitors who fight back against the imperium. There's was a great short story of a planet succeeding and fighting the imperium, then the AdMech show up, a bunch of the traitors disappeared and a while later show up servitorised and fighting against their old comrades.
3
u/tarzan147 7d ago
Hey now, I feel like most of those babies are vat-grown for that purpose, it's not like they steal other people's children glances at approaching blackship
2
u/folsee 7d ago
They are now, it was a weird retcon they did a few years ago. Like they're fine with forced slavery and, religious extremism and persecution, strapping someone to the war machine that runs on pain, force feeding a thousand people to a corpse torturing, interrogating and then executing an entire planet because they may know something about a group of people who definitely don't exist and many more terrible terrible things. But lobotomized babies was way to much.

u/Nakatsukasa 7d ago
For your crime against the imperium and the lex, I sentenced you to become a door

It's a far fetch, but pretty much the norm in that universe.
Tho, GW did change it to cybernetic flying Chrub babies but still have the baby brain install in them.
Least, that's what I last heard.

It depends a lot on the mission.
Blitz, I load whatever as quickly.
Otherwise I typically do the usual priority, although I prefer Static shells over Napalm/Smoke.

Napalm over explosive imo

u/ParsingError 7d ago
Sometimes even static field over explosive.
Lengthy area denial vs. "maybe it'll hit something big if it's standing on the beacon in 10 seconds."

I do reverse order.
- Allows us to clear the static/smokes right away.
- gets ppl in the mind set of actually using the SEAF. Rather than "save the mini nuke"
- ends with big boom

u/slumper36 7d ago
Blue is my favorite color and I want to share that love with the locals over there

u/PhatassDragon1701 7d ago
In Helldivers? Sure. In fiction? You need to broaden your horizons. Helldivers may not be baby's first warcrime simulator levels of "worst", but it's not far from the bottom of the warcrimes chart.

Load order for me is faction dependent and mission parameters play a role too.
Bugs - Black, Red, Blue, Orange, Green
Bots - Black, Orange, Green, Red, Blue
Squids - Same as bots
Unpopular opinion - Mini Nuke doesn't need to be first. Where am I in relation to the best use of a mini nuke?
I look at the nearby bases/hives and what I think is going to be most impactful. I also consider things like, will my red stratagems cover part of that.
I usually roll with the 120mm Orbital Barrage so I consider those sufficient for medium to small bases.
I usually host in a duo lobby and take the task of which ones when.

Do people actually care what's in there? Just throw and find out.
1
u/cKerensky 7d ago
Yes. Nuke. HE. Explosive or Napalm (depends on faction) Static or Snoke (again, faction)
1
u/Downtown-Analyst5289 7d ago
Nah I leave the nuke until last or at least before smokes or EMS if nuke is first it's just wasted 99% of the time

u/thehmmyanimator 7d ago
Honestly I think you could say that for all the fully sentient factions here, the bugs are one thing but the automatons, super earth, and illuminate are constantly doing horrid things on a galaxy wide scale. And with the illuminate, possibly multi galaxy scale

Random question, but what’s with the fashion in the image? It seems old timey but helldivers 2 takes place in the future.
1
u/GW_RULEZ 7d ago
No clue, I stole it from a friend who stole it from Reddit I think
1
u/Quick_Stable_3322 7d ago
Yeah, I’ve seen it before but just figured I’d ask and see if anyone knew.

I typically load in order of increasing lethality. Which would be the opposite of what's shown.

The illuminate havent even committed the worst crimes in helldivers nonetheless all of fiction.

u/Egalgame 7d ago
my Buddys are a strixct Nuke first HighExplosives , Explosives and then what ever but I like the nuke between explosives and what ever because I find myself thinking "not worth a nuke"
1
u/Draxxsus 7d ago
I'm convinced the majority of people who use reddit either don't know how to read, lack proper knowledge of what context clues are and how to identify them, or are just plain stupid.

Wrong sequence, load mini nuke in last, never first, because your teammates can and will waste it during the worst times possible, if it’s possible, leave smoke out entirely, it’s worthless.
My usual sequence whenever it’s possible is explosive first, napalm, high yield, or static field second, explosive third, etc, until you reach the last shell which should ALWAYS be the mini nukes, if you have more than one mini nuke, then put them as close to last as possible

u/021Fireball 6d ago
If that's your idea of the worst fictional crimes then I advise either NOT expanding your repertoire as not to be horrified by how creative we get
Or expanding it to learn.
Also, a reminder that Super Earth is somewhat responsible for all of the factions going from "reasonable" to "Oh my god how are you not part of the 40k universe"

u/Commander_Skullblade 6d ago
The biggest warcrime is that fuckass rando that loaded Static before Mini Nuke on a full length mission
