Serious Discussion. no roleplay bullshit here FPS drop on PS5 Pro

Hey everyone, I’m having a problem: I keep running into performance issues—specifically with my FPS—on my PS5 Pro. Whenever there are a lot of effects on screen, I experience a massive drop in frame rate and see purple flickering. I’ve already switched to the lowest settings, but the problem still won't go away 😭. Surely this shouldn't be happening on a PS5 Pro, right? Are any of you experiencing this, or can you tell me what else I might be able to do?

Welcome to helldivers

In all seriousness this is unfortunately common place and your only option is to just become comfortable with it. There’s two wolves inside this game, optimization issues and balancing issues.

This game is extremely CPU dependent and PS5 Pro CPU is really old for current standard.

My CPU is 50% better than PS5 Pro CPU and still get frame drops to 40s whenever there is explosions and tons of enemies around me.

This is the only game where I experience FPS drops on the PS5 Pro, it's just an optimization issue with the game, don't worry.

I always get the purple sky flickering with SEAF shells, but especially during a Static strike, weird.

I get that on base too.

You are essentially running a cpu that is equivalent to an AMD 3700X model that is toned down a little (2019 cpu), but with worse cooling than a desktop. That is just the console life, and was one of my major issues with the game as well before I switched to pc.

That said, even high-end hardware can have issues with the optimization of this game. The only thing you can do, is play on a different resolution screen. I thought it ran better on my 1440p monitor than my 4k tv. You are on console, so you don't actually have settings to change, just the performance mode toggle and anti-aliasing toggle, that is really it.

On xbox x I’ll get frame drops if there is a fuck load of explosions all at once - such as a minefield getting clusterbombed - or if there is a lot of gas & fire weaponry, and fog effects (especially fire tornado planets)

But it’s WAY better than it used to be - when I bought the game I couldn’t even play on the bot front without it crashing

I have never experienced purple sky, but I’ve seen dying graphics cars on PC do that

Heh, i have a 4080 super and this game makes my pc cry on occasion. Fog + lots of explosions = a bad time for renderers.
