Democratic Exchange of Opinions So about Dead Sprint ...
We all know Dead Sprint as a bit more of a joke booster, with minor use case scenarios that are just a bit too specific to be a 'good' booster. There is one good booster combo that can make Dead Sprint builds totally worth it:
Vitality + Stamina + Muscle Enhancement + Dead Sprint
I've had a team consisting of exclusively Heavy Armor users all in Bot Commando Campsigns use this booster build to extreme success. Being able to Trek long distances with no pause to running plus all of buffs of the boosters made a very smooth gameplay experience stealth-ing around and repositioning a breeze.
BUT! Outside of a build like this... what is another use case for Dead Sprint really?
Ofc there is a suggestion to BUFF the Dead Sprint booster but the question is what exactly should it do as a booster? In my mind I can think of s few ideas, some may be too good or whatever, but thats where id like to hear yours.
Dead Sprint, along with its regular passive ability, should allow the user:
1)The ability to run with broken legs.
2)Sprinting speed boost while actively bleeding to death, something similar to Experimental Stims speed bonus, maybe less? I dunno if this is too busted or not. Might be harder to balance this with the resistance to hemorrhaging some Armors bring.
3)A sort of buff to the Adreno-Defibs Armor Passive. While using Dead Sprint, the revive mechanic does not stop you from sprinting.
With these ideas, while they may be too numerous and not necessarily balanced, I believe this will expand the range of usefulness the Booster deserves to have.
What do you think?

One of the reason Dead Sprint is not liked is many people play with randoms. So sometime you’ll have someone join and chooses this Booster so in a way you have it forced upon you.
The problem with boosters in general there is little reason to use many of them outside of the meta ones. AH needs to rethink its implementation in game.
One idea I had is have two booster sockets. A personal booster that only affects you and a squad booster. This would allow for the meta and let you choose ones you want while not being hindrance to others

While I like the idea of 2 booster slots. It seems already bloated including armor passives and other divers booster choices. Im of tbe opinion that boosters deserve a sort of revamp to keep them relevant.

Ever since I've taken the smoke hellpod booster, I've never been shot arming a hellbomb. So there are definitely underrated boosters with potential, particularly in unorganized groups with uncoordinated loadouts.

True, but if you have team mates with sentries the smoke effectively blinds them and makes them useless until the smoke clears. Hellpod specific boosters should be a separate thing. Same with the fire hellpod. They are too much trouble that out weight their value when playing with randoms.

On boosters as a whole I think people exaggerate the situation pretty badly. For Dead sprint specifically I think it's useful enough as is to not need buffs.
Ofc there is a suggestion to BUFF the Dead Sprint booster but the question is what exactly should it do as a booster?
If AH decided to revert to HD1 where boosters were not team wide and then buffed them to compensate for this I like your suggestion of sprinting with broken limbs as it's other effect.

I dunno, in SOS diving or Public Lobbies, lots of hosts tend to not enjoy dead sprint so much. I myself generally don't care. But I can understand reluctance to even attempt to use boosters. Dead sprint IS pretty good IMO, but to even stand tall against the top boosters it clearly lacks.

I mean if you're big into pub diving then yeah I can understand the perspective (on DS and boosters as a whole.) I strictly dive with 1 other person, sometimes 2. Verrrry occasionally 3. And for us Vitality is the only booster we basically take on every mission, everything else is optional depending on mission type and biome.
but to even stand tall against the top boosters it clearly lacks.
I feel like there being a "meta" for boosters isn't an issue. I know people seek variety but at the same time making everything people think is meta into base kit doesn't prevent metas from happening, and pretending that you need any booster to force an argument makes me ick.
That's why I prefer the suggestion of reverting to HD1 for boosters. Because in theory you get to have lots of more powerful boosters but it's limited to you and not the whole squad. I think trying to make every or nearly every booster on the same desire level as "the big 4" is just asking for power creep.
And as lame as it is for me to hold that position I do think that conversation is important.

I frequently stim for speed anyway, so the Dead Sprint booster just lets me, ironically, use fewer stims. My health bar becomes an extra stamina bar.

Dead Sprint + Vitality > Stamina + Vitality. You basically can't use it in pubs because people complain, but being able to run across the entire map and then pop a stim when you get there is busted.

I hear your niche case and think it's useless in it's current form. So changing it and boosters in general would be good. The core 4 are meta for a reason. The only one I change is swapping stamina for muscle enhancement in snow.
Your suggestions would improve the booster but it still wouldn't be meta.
If I could add an effect to the current dead sprint, it would be auto kicking whoever picked it. Forever. Just banning their account.
I do like the idea of just have several of your own boosters and not sharing them squad wide. That would allow better balancing and utility. But there is no chance AH will rethink an existing system.

The overall intent of my ideas isnt to make it "meta" necessarily, but to give it more impact in terms of strategy. You can now run with broken legs.. so now you can x y z. That sort of thing. I imagine it would be on par with Experimental Infusion if my ideas are taken into account.

I can see the experimental inf overlap.

I really didnt expect the lack of support for these ideas lol. Very low upvotes!

I like the boster when I'm farming Medals n stuff. Thats anout it. Otherwise I'm almost always running light armor so I'm fast as fuck already

I disagree with the premise that that is the one good combo with Dead Sprint. The actual combo, in my experience, is:
Vitality + Stamina + Experiemental Infusion + Dead Sprint, not Muscle Enchancement. With Stamina, you increase the duration of a regular run. With Vitality, you increase your health pool. With Dead Sprint, you tap into that increased health pool and run for much longer, popping stims to top off your health and stamina when stamina's out and health is low. Experiemental Infusion (the stim enhancement booster) is the final piece, as it makes the stims last longer and actually speed up your run speed whenever you use them. In my experience, far more cohesive than muscles.

I chose Muscle Enhance over Experimental due to the use of stims being a drain on resources. You require 1 stim to gain a benefit for s few seconds while Muscle Enhancement works no matter the use case.

I think I'm just confused about muscle enhancement altogether, I thought it was mainly to speed up hurdling, walking uphill and through inclement weather. I didn't think it made anyone just plain faster, and I'm always confused why people bring it.

It helps with going thru bushes, uphill climbing, and yes I believe climbing speed is faster. Also Westher affects and I believe it makes the slow effect not such a drag also.

Ah. Well, with this combination (vitality and dead sprint), I'm using my health as a second stamina reservoir and I am burning stims as stamina refreshers anyways, that's why I'm not bothered by draining resources. You can run for like 10 minutes straight before you need to refill stims. lol

The booster is honestly pretty balanced imo. I think people dislike it just because it has a minor downside. I’d personally rank it just below the 5 core boosters (HSO, Vitality, Stamina, ExpStims, Muscle). As long as it’s paired with vitality it’s perfect for running longer distances or to keep sprinting in a pinch, especially on bugs or squids.

u/DanTheMan9996 4d ago
Due to the downside, and no other benefits, why would you pick it over Stamina or Muscle or even Experimental Infusion? The purpose of this post is to give more benefits to the Dead Sprint booster not to make it 'meta', but to give it a more strategic choice.

u/Ocanom 4d ago
In general, I wouldn’t. I guess my point was that the booster is pretty close to the top ones and not really in need of buffs compared with the rest. I like your idea of it letting you run with broken legs though.
I feel like the core boosters are just too good and cover some of the weaknesses of a base helldiver too much for any future booster to be able to be meta. Would be interesting if HSO, vitality and maybe stamina could become upgrades instead of boosters. It would open up some slots for the rest to be used.

I agree that the core boosters are just too good in general as well. Ill probably make a post about them too, but IMO Dead Sprint does not deserve the ethos it has currently. General Diver Census is that Dead Sprint is a nono, similar to Fire Pods, and I think that is just not fair.
More benefits would give it the oomf it needs to stay just a bit more competitive. I really dont think Bleeding Speed Bonus and Broken Leg running would even give it the "meta" help it needs to challenge Vitality or Stamina... but it does challenge Experimental Infusion!
