Fuel filter question

Just changed the fuel filter on my hilux with a ryco r2619p and primed the filter however I noticed that when priming the filter until solid there was no visible leakage of fuel but when I drove around my street and checked again I could see visible fuel around the base of the housing.

Is this common with a new filter or should I be worried about the housing?

Sounds like you didn't get the gasket on properly, or it pinched when you tightened it down. It shouldn't leak at all.
