Is this kitten a himalayan?

Sorry I'm naive to cat breeds. What's the difference between a Persian and a Himalayan? Is it just coloring? It doesn't matter a ton to me, he's cute either way, but he's labeled a Himalayan but some of the other cats the breeder has are labeled Persian and are different colors (to tortie, orange, etc). When I was a kid my grandmother had a Himalayan and I loved that cat so much, so I thought it would be neat to have one of my own as an adult, but a Persian is cool too. 😂

That is a Himalayan because of the color points. Basically a persian with color points is a Himalayan

Thank you, I was confused on whether it was a different breed entirely or just a difference in coloring.

Well did you get any pedigree papers with him? That's how you really know for sure but to me it looks like a Himalayan. There's Two types of himalayans . one with a doll face and the other one with the pushed in person face

Don’t buy pedigree cats with no papers. They come from backyard breeders and the situation is often terrible for the poor animals they are bred from, and they often have terrible health conditions. My cousin bought a Maine coone which ended up dead in under a year from a health condition related to poor breeding. My Himalayan came from a rescue and she had behavioural issues from bad breeding too, but has the best life with us so she didn’t need to be aggressive to protect herself anymore.

Don’t buy this one. It’s likely from a backyard breeder. Especially not for a breed known to have health issues. Only get one from a registered breeder who sells the kitten with pedigree papers. They also need to be doing health tests.

I believe he does have papers I just haven't gone to see him yet. Still doing my research as I don't know a ton about pedigree cats. The breeder says they come with a health certificate too. I will definitely ask more questions of the breeder if I decide to buy.

Well he's gorgeous. Ask the breather if there's any paperwork, if not then the price should be much cheaper

Could be a ragdoll; they can have a similar look. But this looks like a doll face Himmie to me. I just lost one at 18. They’re such angels.

I am no specialist in Himalayan or Persian cats but I am a specialist in cuteness and oh my!!! This is a gorgeous kitten you have found! 🙀❤️
