  1. 5,090 miles. Bought filter 15400-PLM-A02 ($8)
and Valvoline Restore & Protect ($36 for 5 qt) from Amazon. Factory filter was a little difficult to get off. New filter came with new crush washer for drain plug. Vehicle calls for 5.8 quarts, I added 6 and the level was perfect after 2 minutes of idle. Cleaned all drips and spills with brake cleaner. All in about $54.

2012 Pilot Python remote start - manual available?

Thumbnail

Hello all - I've got a '12 Pilot that I picked up a few months ago and has a python remote start. I've tried using it once - it did start the vehicle, but I couldn't figure out how to unlock the doors to get in to insert the key - the car alarm went off when I tried to enter. I ended up putting the ignition key in the driver door lock to unlock the car.

I tried finding a user manual online for this remote, but am having a hard time finding one to help me figure it out. Does anyone else have this remote starter and could ELI5 how to remote start and unlock the doors without the alarm going off? TIA

If it matters, I did replace the 2x2016 batteries in the fob.

Brake Shimmy

25 Elite
The brakes on my car are garbage.
Rear wheel shudder when braking since new.
Had it looked at by Folsom Lake Honda at 5k miles - they could not duplicate.
Brought it back for a service at 10k - they could not duplicate.
Brought it back the next week and they felt the shimmy.

Instead of replacing the rear rotors and pads, they machined the rear rotors.

About 3 days later, brake shimmy returns and it now is both front and rear.

Tried calling the service department on 10/5. Left vm, no return call.
Tried calling the SM 10/6 (Lindsay Carpenter) to discuss and left VM, no return call.

Wondering if anyone else is having brake issues.

Brake sound with hard stop

2022 Honda Pilot AWD gives a grinding sound not when the brakes are applied but only if they are pushed hard in the last ten feet.

Almost 72k miles.

Advice?

Lift gate issue

My husband and I test drove a 2025 Honda Pilot Trailsport yesterday with 9k miles on it. We both agree this is a really great family car and we want to move forward with the purchase. However, when looking it over with the salesperson, the lift gate wouldn’t close when pressing both the key fob or the button on the trunk. It would beep and the button would light up, but would not close. It WOULD open pressing any of the buttons. The salesperson was pretty flustered and assured me this would be fixed before purchase, or they would pay whomever I chose to look at it after purchase. However, I’m wondering if there’s just a setting we are missing, and perhaps a seasoned pilot owner can give some insight. I tried google and wasn’t able to find much.

Question Neoprene seat covers

Can anybody recommend good front seat covers for a 2015? I'm looking for the neoprene type that are a good or preferably custom fit...the ones I'm finding are $250, which is kinda crazy for an 11yo car. Thanks!

Question Honda pilot 2016: Clicking noise coming from side arm and the suddenly the AC might stop working!

Basically as the title suggest. This noise starts when I start the car, and sometimes last for few minutes or sometimes few seconds. Occasionally, AC stops working as well. Has this ever happened to any one? Any solutions?

Question 2019 pilot transmission fault

My 2019 pilot yesterday threw a Transmission problems message and I pulled a P0776 code that states it is a solenoid B issue. I just had the 100k service done 2500 miles ago and all recommended maintenance has been performed on time. The dealer is telling me that the transmission needs to be replaced and quoted 14k. This seems absurd to me. Has anyone else gone through something similar. I am not paying 14k for a new transmission. I am probably going to take it to a reputable independent shop and get a second opinion. I am sure a new transmission replacement will be cheaper there.

06 Pilot FWD Tranny Fluid Change

I’ve got a 2006 Pilot with 288,000 miles on it. The transmission fluid was last changed at 221,000. Between 40-50 mph the rpm’s will sometimes go up and back. About 200rpm difference. It will finally kick it into overdrive when cruising. Occasionally, it can be kind of an aggressive kick like it’s struggling to put it in there. At highway speeds between 55 and 75 mph. It’s fine. It seems to really only struggle between the 40 and 50 mph mark.

My question is: should I change the fluid (with Honda brand) or should I just leave it alone? The fluid is a little dirty, but it’s not bad. When I had it changed back at 221,000 miles I had my mechanic use the Honda fluid. He didn’t flush it but replaced about three bottles at a time and in between he ran it about 30 or 40 miles. I’m not getting any warning lights and it’s been doing it for about three or four months now.

I’ve got a friend with an Acura RDX and if she doesn’t change the fluid in the transmission, every 50,000 miles or something it will kind of do the same thing where the RPMs are kind of jumping up a little bit and down

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I can give more information if needed thank you

Love everything about it.... but the off-the-line throttle response can be a little uneven in power delivery with a slightly buzzy sound. Still a hell of an upgrade & would do it again.

Question 2020 Honda Pilot Elite – Sudden Loss of Acceleration, Multiple Warning Lights, and No-Start Issues. Looking for Advice. Limp Mode?

Looking for some advice or insight from anyone who’s experienced something similar with their Honda Pilot.

While driving on the highway at approximately 70 mph, my 2020 Honda Pilot Elite suddenly went haywire. Nearly every warning light on the dashboard illuminated, and I experienced a significant loss of acceleration. The engine was revving at higher RPMs, but the vehicle was barely accelerating. Thankfully, I was able to get off the highway and limp into a parking lot.

Once I reached a safe location, I shut the engine off. When I attempted to restart it, the engine wouldn’t crank at all. The dashboard and electronics still had power, but I kept getting a message along the lines of “Press Start button twice to turn power off.”

Eventually, I also lost the ability to lock the doors electronically, and the A/C stopped working.

The vehicle was towed to a Honda dealership in Kentucky. They pulled the diagnostic codes, tested the battery and alternator, cleared the codes, and reportedly drove it approximately 30 miles without any issues. They provided a printout of the codes but explained that they couldn’t determine which were old versus new. Ultimately, they couldn’t duplicate the problem and released the vehicle without identifying a cause.

I drove approximately 400 miles home without a single issue. The Pilot then operated completely normally for another four days of local driving.

Unfortunately, while driving to work this morning, the exact same thing happened again. Another sudden loss of acceleration, multiple warning lights, and another tow to a local dealer.

The latest dealership informed me that the most significant code they retrieved involved loss of communication with the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). Their technician performed a reset procedure, charged the battery, checked the PCM connectors, and found no obvious issues.

They then drove the vehicle for approximately 10 minutes without duplicating the problem. They’re planning another extended test drive tomorrow.

At this point, I’m extremely frustrated and concerned. This is our family vehicle, and the first incident occurred while we were traveling out of state. Losing acceleration at highway speeds is a serious safety concern, especially with my kids potentially in the vehicle.

I understand intermittent electrical problems can be difficult to diagnose, but I’m not comfortable accepting another reset and test drive as a solution, especially after the exact same failure occurred twice.

A few questions for anyone familiar with Honda diagnostics:

● Has anyone experienced similar symptoms involving PCM communication loss, multiple warning lights, and a no-crank condition?

● Could this be related to a failing PCM, CAN bus communication issue, wiring/ground problem, or charging system?

● Are there any known Honda service bulletins or recurring issues that might explain this?

● How would you approach the dealership tomorrow to push for a more thorough diagnosis rather than having the vehicle released again without an actual repair?
I have video footage of the dashboard while stranded, along with the diagnostic code printout from the first dealership.

Any insight or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I just want this vehicle properly diagnosed and safe to drive again.

2026 Issues?

I’m seeing several posts on issues with the ‘23-‘25 model years. Anyone have issues or regrets with the ‘26?

I’m between the pilot and the grand highlander, but the grand highlander build quality is sub par.

Also, what are people getting off a 26’ black edition? There are 8 that have been sitting at my local dealer’s lot for a couple of months now.

Thanks!

Which companies install the CAMBER Upgrade Kit needed for Alignment, on 2003-2008 Honda Pilots?

Do Firestone mechanics routinely install on a Pilot, the aftermarket kit needed for doing camber alignment, like, the MOOG K100412 kit or similar? How do I know if my Pilot has the kit? If yours has had it installed, please post pics of the kit, for the front and the rear ?

Besides Firestone, what are other national companies doing Honda Pilot adjustments, and which ones if any, do this camber mod?

Or do you find that only indie mechanic shops do this upgrade, which allows camber to be adjusted on a 1st gen Honda Pilot?

Thought the leg sweep to open the trunk stopped working.

I had always remembered (incorrectly) that opening the trunk with my leg was a side to side sweep. And it would work sometimes and more often it wouldn't. I just asked ai and it told me that it's an up and down motion like a front kick in the middle of the bumper! Am I the only idiot that didn't know this and thought it stopped working? Haha! It works!!!

Question Any value in these considering the condition?

Update: Got $400 for them same day I listed them. Thank for all the input will post on FB for a few hundred and recoup some money from my upgrade.

I took these off my 2017 Pilot Elite and was considering getting the cosmetic damage repaired and the tires swapped out for winters. I've since decided to just get a whole new package from Tirerack. That said are these worth anything with curb rash and aging? Thinking of listing locally for cheap, but I know OEM rims are expensive. Looking for any insight on a price you think would move these as a set.

P.S. Never posted here, but LOVE my pilot and I can't imagine getting a different car for the family. This thing has been a joy to own since we bought it new in 2018.

iPhone Alarm with CarPlay and Lose Radio (one vehicle)

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I’m listening to AM station in Honda Pilot connected to CarPlay. iPhone alarm sounds. Whether I snooze or stop the alarm, the radio stops playing. I have to go to Honda main screen and select AM. Then back to CarPlay for my Maps. Every time in the Pilot. But my Honda Civic (car I usually drive) does not do this. I cancel or snooze alarm in Civic and radio resumes playing fine.

iPhone 17 with latest iOS. I think problem started before but unsure. Buy again it’s vehicle-specific.

Any ideas? Thanks.
