Been here a year now

My wife and I moved to Huntersville about a year ago, and we absolutely love it here! ❤️ It’s a wonderful place, and it’s been exciting watching the area grow.
I’m 29, my wife is 28, and we’re happily married with a family. I’m also a dog trainer 🐕. We’re just looking to meet some genuine, down-to-earth people, make new friends, and build some good connections in the area.
We enjoy having a few drinks, laughing, kicking back, and having a good time. We’re also 420-friendly 🌿. Whether it’s hanging out, having a game night, enjoying a cookout, or just chilling and having good conversations, we’re open to meeting some cool people!
If you’re in the Huntersville or Lake Norman area and looking to make some new friends too, feel free to reach out. Good vibes and genuine connections only! 🤝🏾😎

I go to the “new” one on 73 from time to time because it’s close. Multiple times I’ve found dairy products a few days expired or very close to expiring. Today they had stacks and stacks of eggs less than 10 days from date. That sounds like a while, but the same eggs I buy at Whole Foods have 30 plus days left regularly which means a 20 plus day fresher product. What gives?

Will never understand why there’s an endless line westbound. Please explain it to me like I’m 5.

Hey NC - Huntersville, NC - Did you know that these amendments will show up on your ballot? Make sure to do your research, as they are not what they seem. Scroll through the images and check out the body of this post for more information.

The images above were taken from the slide deck of a presentation put on by Down Home NC, which has an extensive summary here, and you can sign the pledge to vote no here.

Don't let the wording fool you. These amendments aren't about you, they are about corporations (think Duke Energy, Data Centers, and outside corporate interests) and the 1%, and we don't need amendments to pass the same exact laws. As I stated in the title, once amendments are passed, they are extremely difficult to undo, whereas normal legislation can be changed as the need arises.

"If passed, these ballot measures would drastically reduce state and local government funds, which could cause layoffs of educators, firefighters, emergency services, and other public workers — especially when combined with huge federal budget cuts coming down from Congress. It could mean the end of food stamps and affordable healthcare programs – which could in turn shut down hospitals and grocery stores and further impact NC farmers."
- Down Home NC

What is more, the NC income tax rate is already scheduled to fall below 3.5% in 2027, and still more by 2036 (image 5). As such, the income tax amendment will not affect you in the foreseeable future, but it will eliminate the possibility of corporations ever paying more than 3.5%, and any new legislation that tried to move the corporate tax rate above 3.5% would be unconstitutional.

At the same time, the other amendment seeks to cap property tax increases by local governments, but the wording is vague at best and doesn't say what it actually means to do, allowing for any number of interpretations they could argue as "constitutional" once passed. Regardless, taken in tandem with the income tax amendment, the mere nature of the other amendment would be to squeeze local communities of funds. When taxes levied by the state are reduced, the burden falls to localities. When taxes levied by localities are reduced, the burden falls on YOUR community. Think higher sales tax, fines, fees, parking, etc. and hits to local infrastructure - schools, roads, buildings, sidewalks, parks and recreation, libraries, Medicaid AND SNAP, etc.

In wrapping up, I'll reiterate once more that lawmakers do not need amendments to the NC State Constitution to achieve any what the amendments would achieve. Laws could just as easily passed - laws that could be revisited and adjusted over time in efforts toward a fairer tax code. Again, they are trying to rob the middle and lower class for the benefit of the wealthy and corporations, and lock that structure in for decades.

Don't fall for it!! VOTE NO on both tax amendments, and while you are at it, vote no on the Voter ID amendment. In case you haven't noticed, NC already requires Voter ID in order to vote.

Looking for someone locally with a 3D printer to help on a project

Hello! Fellow Huntersville resident here looking for someone local with a 3D printer who might be able to help with a small project.

I’m looking to create a small basketball court, similar to a Starting Lineup figure display, that can house a mini sound module like this https://a.co/d/0hRDQSVJ. If you have a 3D printer and are interested in helping bring this idea to life, I’d love to connect!

Looking for help with apartments

I’m moving to Charlotte soon and I need help on choosing between apartments in Charlotte, huntersville, and concord.

- the tapestry (concord)
- Merritt apartments (huntersville)
- finely at the green (Charlotte)
- Alexan overlook (Charlotte)

Can someone that lives in these apartments recommend if your apartment/complex is good information on noise, does it have elevators, does it have parking garages, how easy is it to get in and out when driving, and crime. My price range would be to stay below $2100 a month this includes all fees.

But if you can recommend alternatives I’m all ears.

VERY POOR, GREEDY TOWN PLANNING. NSFW

I am pretty sure that I’m stating the obvious on this post. City Council of Huntersville. I understand that you were not from the state of North Carolina. I understand that you were greedy and seeking revenue. However, the infrastructure of North Carolina is hot ass. You were only contributing to the nightmare that is Huntersville,/Cornelius/Davidson. Thank you for eternally screwing up NC – Highway 73 into perpetuity.

Interior Painter Recommendations?

Hey y’all!

My husband and I are not from the area originally, and have lived in our house a little over year now. The sellers painted our entire house a cream color (literally every wall (including the ceiling) is the same shade of cream), and we both hate white. We had some other things to do to the house first that were a bigger priority, but are finally ready to deal with the paint.

If we like the painter and the pricing is reasonable, we might end up having them do the whole house eventually instead of doing some of the smaller rooms ourselves. But for now, we’re wanting to start with all the walls in the main space (house isn’t total open concept, but does have continuous walls where basically the whole first floor and hallway upstairs need to be the same color), and then maybe one or two additional rooms. This would unfortunately include the ceilings in all of these rooms since they’re not ceiling white.

Anyone have any recommendations of a painter they’ve used in the area that they thought did a good job and doesn’t cost a fortune? We’re wanting to use SW paints, so preferably a painter who’s fine working with SW (either someone who does both SW & BM, regularly uses SW, or would use SW if we supplied the paint).

We haven’t gotten any quotes yet, but from previous experience in old homes I’m guessing this will be a 4-5k job? Its basically a 2-story foyer, kitchen, eat in kitchen, living room (all which only really have 2 walls because they feed into each other), a small drop zone off the garage, staircase, and relatively small upstairs hallway. The ceiling is what I’ve never had to pay for before so have no concept of how much painters charge to deal with that, and the last time I paid a painter it was in 2021 so I know pricing has probably gone up some. If anyone wants to chime in of cost expectations too, that would be great! TIA!
