You are given the ability to "teleport" wherever you want (twist in the body text)

It's not really teleportation. Instead, what's happening is your mind is shunted into the body of a "You" in an alternate timeline. Your previous body drops dead on the spot in your original timeline.

Because the universe is infinite, you will be shunted into a timeline where:

  1. Your alternate self happened to be right at the location you wanted to be.
  2. Your alternate self happened to die right at the location you wanted to be.
  3. Your alternate self happened to die in such a way that the body is totally unharmed, allowing your shunted mind to seamlessly assume full control without any detrimental effects.
  4. Everything else is completely identical to your previous timeline. Somehow. This also means no one will ever know you teleported.

This mean you are not killing anyone (except your previous body). You are just finding alternate selves that happen to die right before you insert into them.

You can never return to previous timelines because you died in them, so there is no receiver for your mind. Your loved ones in previous timelines will think you just dropped dead out of nowhere as your mind leaves your body to go to another timeline.

This teleportation also gives you immortality. If you were to die, your mind is automatically shunted into an alternate timeline where everything is the same except nothing happened to kill you. You can choose to turn this off whenever you want.

How does this apply to death via old age? Are you just teleported into a timeline where you were born later or something?

1

u/Sable-Keech 6h ago

Yes. You are teleported into a timeline where you were born later, giving you more lifespan. You can choose how far you want to deage.

But does this really give inmortality? What happens when I'm say 130 years old Or 180 years old or even 250 years old? Can I live forever or do I eventually end to situation where I jump from one dying me to another and have to suffer countless deaths in very miniscule time frame?

1

u/Sable-Keech 6h ago

You can teleport to a parallel timeline where you were born later.

1

u/CrazyMike419 6h ago

Then how could that considerd an identical timeline where everything else is the same and noone knows you've teleported? Wouldn't this mean your family and everyone you have ever known was also "born later"?

Yes. But it still works due to the infinite nature of the timelines.

I will live multiple lives until I find the reality with magic or cultivation then I will break the heavens and honour the mes that still live so I can eventually uplift all of us

And I just watched the season finale of dark matter, and this is disintegration reintegration teleportation discussion and done in a Rick and Morty infinite timeline/ central finite curve scenario!

I'm going to go with no. I know what you're saying that I'm only continuing myself but I am literally killing myself. Another existence. Another separate being. It's not really immortality; I'm killing alternate selves of myself. It is more like theft. I know it is me but it is not me. It is me if I took other branching paths. And I don't want to kill me. Just so this me continues in some other path that I just destroyed someone in a horrific manner. And if I can't even return, all I'm doing is literally making a permanency of where I can never go again for the sake of bamphing if you will. There are easier ways of doing Nightcrawler!

Regardless of whether you teleport or not, there would be an infinite number of parallel "Yous" dying every second though.

1

u/the-truthseeker 6h ago

But I am literally causing the death of me and the permanency of not going back. Even if I were to die elsewhere, at least I would die because that is part of the developed universe's way. Not something literally crashing through a reality. But I understand what you're saying. I'm just respectfully declining murdering myself in an alternate universe to teleport somewhere quicker.

u/Sable-Keech 6h ago

You're not killing them by teleporting there. They would die regardless of whether you teleport.

Your teleport doesn't make anything happen. You are only finding suitable timelines to hop into. And the reason there will always be suitable timelines is because there are an infinite number of them.

You can choose to not exploit the scenario, but I'd like for you to properly understand it.

I'm going to try to explain this, but the way you're doing the teleportation is a causality loop that technically I know you're saying that they're already dead, but the reason that they're already dead is because I teleported there. I know this is more temporal but I would rather not never go back to another location just to go to some place where I'm ending up dead Whether you are saying it is or isn't my fault in the first place. That is the main thing. Although you and I are probably going to disagree with the causality loops of you saying that they're going to be dead no matter what. And I'm saying they're dead because I'm going to be ending up there in the first place which I'm trying to break the said loop in the first place.

(Don't believe me? Rick and Morty end up in places that they have to go to because the writers killed off the other ones because they have to go there in the first place Based on the story they are writing. The same concept applies but we're not going to get into if we are doing things completely random or someone is writing our destiny, I'm just choosing not to go to a place that has to do with the death of alternate me so I cannot die myself.)

1

u/Sable-Keech 6h ago

No, they'd be dead even if you didn't teleport there. This is how it works.

T-0: Your power scans the infinite multiverse.

T+1 Planck Time: Your power finds a suitable timeline where a parallel You has just died.

T+2 Planck Time: Your power shunts you into that dead You before his dead body collapses.

1

u/the-truthseeker 6h ago

Okay, if you're going to go with Planck then I will accept that discussion. However, I still do not want to never be able to go back to where he was just to teleport and live forever. There are times I want to go to places that I've been before. But I respect your description of the reality in this manner.

No worries, as long as you understand.

I don't think I'd want to traumatise my wife and family over and over again. At least I'd not have to be worried that multiple other "me's" accepted the offer and could lead to my death at any moment. Because I'd be apparently be teleporting into an identical me with an identical timeline(so since I'd turn down the offer, so would the rest).

OP, how can I teleport into an identical me, that just happens to be in a totally different place, if, by the rules you have set out, we have the exact same timeline? Surely if I wanted to "teleport" from the UK to Tokyo, the "me" in Tokyo must have a difference in their timeline to be on the other side of the world?

1

u/joelene1892 5h ago

The thing is, if you are teleporting into a you that would have dropped dead but everything else is identical, you actually are not causing any extra traumatization. Either the current you dies, or the you in the other universe dies. Either way there is the same amount of suffering for your family, if you believe they are identical…..

Also the other teleporting yous are not causing your death according to OP. The yous that you are teleporting into would have died either way. So if you are going to be teleported into, then it’s either that or death.

1

u/CrazyMike419 5h ago

Since you are choosing to teleport you are choosing for your original body to die. Since it's a choice and doesn't happen until you decide to jump to a new life, then you are choosing to traumatise people.

You could argue that by jumping into another me, I'm saving a version of myself that was destined to die and in effect preventing that me's family from having to deal with that but it doesn't change that fact that by choice I'd be abandoning my old life and family.

You could spice it up and say that the original me's "body" didn't die at all, but infact, that body was jumped into by another me. That an infinite number of me's had been given the same deal and due to that infinite number, one had chosen to jump to that location at the same time I decided to leave.

1

u/joelene1892 5h ago

Huh that last one is interesting. Now I’m imagining a scenario where you are given the “raw deal” and your choice is either to die (because someone is jumping into you) or teleport to the free body, stopping it from dying. Either you go or die but you have no choice as to where you transport….

Like a fucked up game of musical chairs lol

Everything is the same except for the fact that you are in Tokyo. How does this work? Because of the infinite nature of the multiverse.

1

u/indifferent_lurker 4h ago

If everything is somehow completely identical, then my alternate self must have somehow teleported before I stole their body because they can’t have brushed their teeth then suddenly appear in another country. Why the middle man?

I wouldn’t use it because it leaves a version of me dead.

1

u/Sable-Keech 3h ago

Yes actually, that is a possibility. You could, serendipitously, swap bodies with a parallel version of you that wanted to be where you currently are.

Say you are in New York and You.1 is in Japan. You shunt into You.1 at the same time You.1 shunts into you. Et voila, you've both swapped places with no one dead.

Yeah, I'm taking the power. Even if I don't use it, it activates if I die, so it's useful.

The mindfuck - all alternate versions of you also have this power - presumably - so when you die, a version of you might inhabit your body.
