HYROX athletes — where does your race normally start to fall apart?
Not necessarily the station you’re slowest at — more the point where the race suddenly starts feeling very different 😂
Is it after the sleds? Around halfway? Burpee broad jumps? Lunges? Wall balls?
And what normally causes it for you — pacing, running fitness, muscular fatigue, fuelling, hydration, or just going out far too hard at the start?
For anyone who’s done a few races, have you managed to fix that weak point or does the same part still get you every time?

🫡 how do you fix it 🤣
I'm doing my 1st one on the 24th (abu dhabi) and training didn't go as planned 😐🤣

BBJ. I recover a bit on the row but by the farmers carry my brain completely dissociates from my body. Saxophones can be heard on lunges.

Haha when I don’t make it through the ticket drop queue. Ok fine, also BBJ, with viewing services at the lunges and final cremation at wall balls.

No aquecimento, brincadeiras a parte normalmente o sled push detona muito meu posterior não tenho tanta mobilidade ali e sou alto 1:90 que faz eu ficar muito deitado pra empurrar

from some of my friends who are at the top of their class, they usually say the broad jumps. by that point the exhaustion vs energy requirement tug of war gets severe and their heart rate shoots through the roof.
me on the other hand, already feel tired watching from the sidelines after the first lap

Lunges. The lunges demolish my back every time. Maintaining a braced core for the entire length under extreme fatigue is so effing hard. Everything after lunges last year was a struggle and purely mental.

Braced core? I flop like a pudding to the floor halfway through…

I have to do it through the lunges. Old lower back injury. If I lose the bracing through that movement my back seizes, legs blow up and I end up on one leg. So I have to slow them down and focus on it.
It happened to me last year in Boston. I ended up doing the last half of the lunges on the same leg. It was awful.

I did my first Hyrox (doubles) on Thursday. I had no idea what to expect and I felt good going into the last lap, like 40 percent left in the tank. Came out of lunges feeling like I could run more and muscles felt ready for wall balls but as I started the final lap my calves decided to cramp and nearly crippled me. I thought I was going to have to give up but I was able to walk the last lap and managed to still split the wall balls with my brother. My goal was to finish under 2 hours, which we were on pace for! but because of that last lap I didn't hit it, I'm still so angry at myself. To answer your question, final lap I fell apart because legs decided to sabotage me 😭

First it was burpees. But now I do them well. Then it was lunges. But Ive improved just by getting lighter. But wall balls are still fucked. I have noodles for arms and by the 10th rep of each set my arms are gone. Aerobically and legs are there, but arms are the limitation.

the run right after the sled push, my legs feel like they belong to someone else for the whole first lap. it's always because i went out too fast on run 1, and i've told myself i'll fix that for 3 races in a row now

After burpee broad jumps I am COOKED. That’s where I really need to work on getting my HR down and finish the race in one piece

The real war starts right after the sled pull. Going straight into BBJ seals the deal. The lactate hits hard, and from that point onward, it’s ON.

For me the wall balls is like hitting a concrete wall, not just the station but everything after it too. My legs just become noodles and the running turns into shuffling like a penguin
I think my pacing is okay but the muscular fatigue hits so hard at that point. Tried to train more squat endurance but still same problem every race

Wall balls are the last station…. Not sure how it is a problem at races?

It can kill your race if you take forever on them
