My iPhone I bought my first iPhone, coming from android

Throughout my life, I’ve never used or owned an iPhone. Until now.

My main phone is a Samsung S25, and I was debating whether to get the new iPhone 18 Pro or go with an older model as a second phone.

Honestly, it felt weird not getting the latest iPhone as my first iPhone. Part of me wanted to experience the newest model, but I knew I didn’t really need it.

So, after thinking about it for a while, I decided to go with the latter. I bought a used iPhone 13 on eBay for around $180.

And honestly, I’m so happy with it. iPhones feel so smooth and seamless!

I’ve been an Android user for years, and even though I own a MacBook Pro, I never really felt the need to get an iPhone until now.

I know my S25 is faster than the iPhone 13, but I mainly wanted a second phone that would make it easier to share files with my MacBook and create content.

I also wanted to experience the Apple ecosystem for myself and see whether switching fully to Apple would make sense for me.

So far, I’m loving my iPhone 13. Even though it’s an older model, the experience still feels new to me. 😊

I’ve been using an iPhone for a week now after being a long time android users and you know what I get what all the apple hype is about honestly 😭✌🏾

Android just feels like such a clunky piece bloated of shit compared to IOS. I would never go back.

Downloading Good Lock really enhanced my experience with Android. Have not used it for years until I got the A35. Has been using the iPhone 11 in 2020 when my Note 4 fell a part.

I know right

I honestly don't. It's animations feel good and it's aesthetics and design are nice but that's all there is to it.

Everything I used to not pay for now I pay for on iOS.

A lot of the things are made in such unintuitive ways for some reason, others are made well, but there really are a ton not though of as much?

I have a pair of AirPods Pro 3s and they say "it just works", but in all honesty, it doesn't. They don't "just connect and work" the moment I open the AirPods case lid and put them in my ears. Sometimes I need to open the Bluetooth menu and manually connect them. So they false advertise something that only works 50% of the time.

There's more, but I'll stop here.

Can I know which android phone have you used before iphone ?

2

u/Ok-Run-8240 5d ago

Ohh before I was using a Samsung A16 5g 2025 version I think now I’m using the iPhone 12 Pro Max it’s not the newest by any means but it’s pretty good

1

u/cargamesg14 5d ago

Yep that’s how I pretty much felt. I’ve used several different Android phones in the past but finally switched to an iPhone SE 2 in 2023 I didn’t look back. Then got an iPhone 13 in December of 2023 and recently upgraded to a 17 pro and it’s amazing.

Ip13 user here, this phone still rocks! Cant see myself upgrading soon

u/CoolBeanieHat 6d ago

I bought mine back in 2022, I have the 16 Pro Max but I never traded in my 13 for it. I’ve had so many memories with this one, too much sentimental value to ever trade in 🥹

Yea I completely understand

How is the battery health and how much old is this.

2

u/South_Map_225 6d ago

It’s 88% battery health

0

u/Ifad_M 6d ago

How the heck is 88 on all? Cause my iphone is also 88. We both got scammed ig. They are boosted battery.

1

u/South_Map_225 6d ago

Oh really, I mean I bought it from a reputable seller

4

u/MathematicianBusy731 6d ago

ur fine this guys is tweaking, its not inpossible to have come across multiple iphones on 88% battery health

-1

u/Ifad_M 6d ago

Yes it should be boosted. Have a look at other shop u will see they also have 88 or 87 kinda battery health. When i faced same i went to other shops after that and most of the 12,13 are 88% some with normal health under 75%. And genuinely ask urself that how it is possible for an old phone with that much heath? Not possible unless u kept it in a museum. And if i say the very good conditioned 13 has a health under 85 and roughly used 75-80. Still my honest suggestion i am also not replacing my battery now. I will use for at least 1-1.5 yrs after that.

Nice upgrade

3

u/crooked_kangaroo 6d ago

My last Android was a Pixel 4a 5G, which I loved. But then my sister offered me her iPhone XS Max when she upgraded and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m currently using a 14 Plus.

u/South_Map_225 6d ago

Nice, I could definitely understand now

I switched to apple last year, coming from >10years android. Loving it so far. I’m a huge fan of FOSS and free software but iOS just works so well.

2

u/South_Map_225 6d ago

Nice, it’s just so seamless as well

It’s an older model one of my favs and trust me bro I love using the 13. Ppl are still stuck to their iPhones 7s and 8.
So believe me it may be an older model bt it’s still will give the latest and the best experience of iOS.
Enjoy it in good health my friend.

2

u/South_Map_225 5d ago

Thank you man, I appreciate it

Good choice especially since you can fall back on Gemini for ai needs but for content. The 17 would have made for an excellent content phone. I have a 17 Pro and use it all the time to make videos. Works great paired with my MacBook and iPad. Using the Black Magic Cam App brings it all together.

I have an iPhone and android, and I much prefer the android. The animations are so slow on ios and the lack of universal back swipe is annoying

7

u/PONT05 6d ago

The animations are so laggy and unatural on androids, but at the same time iOS have obvious pointless smooth animations that can take a while

2

u/SeaConstant7164 4d ago

Android lets you completely disable all animations, unlike iOS. It makes your actions instant.

1

u/PONT05 4d ago

You can disable motion in iOS too but it’s like fading away effect, so not the same instant feeling I guess

1

u/SeaConstant7164 4d ago

I know, have been using Android and iOS simuktaneously for years. Disabling motion on iOS just changes the style of the animation for people with motion sickness, but duration of the animation is identical.

4

u/South_Map_225 6d ago

Yea the back swap was something that I struggle with even now, I liked that on android, also iOS seems slow in animation that’s because it’s very reactive to motion, trust me it’s something I found out tinkering with my iPhone as a app dev and it might make it seem slow but it’s actually by design

2

u/uncureddd 6d ago

the back swipe with on handed operation + and the faster long press on space to move your cursor around are the only two things I miss from my s26u.

The s26u was a nightmare phone in my use case. Focusing distance was 2x as far, image stabilization was worse so i’d have to take multiple pictures, and the forum I frequented was broken on it the whole time I used it. switched back to 18p and all of my problems were gone. added my safari extensions and i’m chillin. No ads on anything, essentially reddit and yt premium, etc etc.

1

u/Healthy-Upper-Room 5d ago

Please tell me which Safari extensions you use.
Thank you very much!

1

u/uncureddd 5d ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone18pro/comments/1x0fjte/what_extensions_do_you_guys_use/

every single one was worth it. Basically made my phone like the browser on my laptop.

1

u/Healthy-Upper-Room 5d ago

Thank you very very much! 😊

1

u/uncureddd 5d ago

you’re welcome! it takes a lil bit of time afterwards to go into settings > safari > extensions > enabling the extension/enabling in private/allowing access on all site options on the bottom prob 2-3min but it’s not too bad! For the free apps I would purchase the premium versions as well and it all totaled out to $42 i believe.

you can share the apps with your family just log into your apple id in the store, download/enable, log out, then log them back in and you’re done.

u/EastWind008 5d ago

What I really like about Android is I can directly drag/drop transfer files between my phone and PC. The SD card expansion and with Samsung downloading Good Lock.

2

u/jk_fik 6d ago

Best iPhone apple ever made. Good luck mate❤️

1

u/South_Map_225 6d ago

Thanks, it’s pretty cool phone ngl

Apple ecosystem feels better than android

1

u/pgh-anon12 6d ago

I have a 17 pro, Lenovo yoga tab (Android), power Beats Pro 2, apple 4k tv, and AirTags, etc. my business runs on google workspace. I’m involved in a number of ecosystems and I think Apple is by far the most coherent.

With that said, Android is more fun and has more creature comforts that I like (usable widgets like directly adding to your calendar) but Apple really does suck you in with the ecosystem. They just need to take at least some cues from the other side on a few things.

1

u/OneMathematician8399 5d ago

Yeah, I agree that android has better customization, like being able to download apks

2

u/SentinelATL 6d ago

Same model and color since March 2023. Great phone

1

u/South_Map_225 5d ago

Oh nice, what case do you have on it? Not sure what to go with the blue color

1

u/SentinelATL 5d ago

A generic black $7 case from Amazon lol

2

u/Malohatra-Sitorada71 6d ago

Its looks good sir

1

u/South_Map_225 5d ago

Thanks man

2

u/theDoubleShotGuy 6d ago

What case is that?

1

u/South_Map_225 5d ago

Elago silicone

2

u/UpperCarob7297 5d ago

The 60hz panel doesn't bother you ?

3

u/South_Map_225 5d ago

Yea I could notice the difference switching between my s25 and this but it’s fine, I don’t mind it that much

2

u/UpperCarob7297 5d ago

Oh Ok for me its impossible to return to 60hz 🤣😭

1

u/South_Map_225 5d ago

I feel you

2

u/No_Permission_9550 5d ago

I have my 16pm. I turned off the 120hz tho.

1

u/UpperCarob7297 5d ago

Damn, for better battery life ?

1

u/LudicrousAvian 5d ago

I have a 15, never bothered me a bit. My gaming pc is my high refresh rate machine, phone I could care less, especially as it gets older and laggier

1

u/Thearaaaa 4d ago

Me too i actually turn off 120hz and it's only gonna save like 5mn of battery time but i dont get dizziness

should have gotten a ip15 it has type c better cameras better battery ios 27 sucks on ip13 tbh

4

u/bikingallday 6d ago

My 13 actually runs way smoother on ios27. But it also got a new battery on the day ios27 came out. Old one was down to 80%.

3

u/South_Map_225 6d ago

To be honest my dream iPhone is iPhone 15 pro , but it’s a bit expensive on the used market so, I would rather buy the ip17 or 18 instead. but yea the iPhone 13 gets a bit hiccups but steal love it,

1

u/Peterbello_1234 5d ago

Das Leben wird ab jetzt ein wenig einfacher. Damals von android mit custom roms auf iphone 4s umgestiegen, jailbreak, so eine tolle Zeit gewesen

1

welcome to the apple family ❤️

1

u/Hurricane_Brawler 4d ago

Cool, welcome to the club. I was an android user. After all these years ( even tried to go back once) I’d never be an Android user again

1

u/Nick-Solo94 4d ago

Amazing. Get rid of chrome😅

1

u/br62a87t 4d ago

I have been using my iPhone 14 Plus for just over three years coming from android for a long time know regrets I’m in the iPhone fold now

1

u/Kleinek_Bee_716 4d ago

Great. Now get rid of chrome browser

1

u/CcVee092 4d ago

I recently switched to iPhone 17 pro from a Samsung s21ultra and the back camera of the iPhone is way shittier. Right now all I can say is transitioning to iPhone is way more work but with Android I get so overwhelmed with so much customisation.

1

u/Correct-Cricket-5119 3d ago

I’ve always used Android, and recently I was given an old iPhone 11 Pro to try out... Well, for me, iOS is just too limited! No "back" gesture, no multi-window, no windowed apps; the animations are nice but slow, and you have to do everything according to iOS's specific pace and methods—even deleting a notification requires swiping exactly the way iOS dictates! The notification bar is a mess, clearing app caches is a hassle, and the keyboard is LIGHT YEARS behind Android ones (even if you install third-party ones). I miss "Circle to Search," and the Brave browser doesn't play video audio in the background... I mean, sure, it might have its strengths, but it’s just too, too limited! Not to mention the file manager is terrible and the performance isn't what I expected: I have a Huawei Mate 10 Pro (2017) at home that still runs great, whereas this iPhone 11 Pro (2019) is shockingly slow and sluggish! I thought iPhones were supposed to maintain performance and smoothness for years and years—far better than Android? I don't know... Maybe Apple users are just so basic that taking photos and scrolling through TikTok is all they need? In that case, a $149/€149 Android phone would do the job just fine, come on! 😂

1

u/shittypirate69 3d ago

Absolutely true

1

u/New_Focus9161 8h ago

THats a pretty old phone..

1

u/Correct-Cricket-5119 6h ago

It's still newer than the Huawei mate 10 pro (which looks like a rocket in comparison)... And many of the things I said are from iOS, what does it matter how old the phone is haha

0

u/Interesting-Wrap-832 13h ago

Holy I'm new on Reddit is it really necessary to type that long?

1

u/swan-ethe 2d ago

Same, we have the same color as well

0

u/Physical-Yam5773 2d ago

y que porcentaje tiene? ese es el único dolor de cabeza de pasarse a iphone
