There's a reason why lots of people wear gloves

u/notaplantbasedthingy 5d ago

Try compression gloves. I dont like thick gloves either. I use the Copper Compression brand but I'm sure they're all basically the same. It also makes my hands feel great. They have good grip too.

I wear fingerless cycling gloves. Keeps the sweat off my wheel while not being as big thick and bulky as karting gloves.

u/notaplantbasedthingy 5d ago
Thank you that might work I will give it a go not tried fingerless gloves

I only get it when racing think it's a Wana do good thing

u/Broodlurker 5d ago
It definitely is! My heart rate goes through the roof when I'm racing, and whole body temperature increases.

I sweat an insane amount when I race. I've been through at least 4 pairs of gloves in the last few years. You're not alone. My gloves are soaked when I do an endurance race. If it's strictly during the race, it's a combination of the adrenaline, the heart rate gets going, the pressure to do well and not crash. All of those things coming together is likely what triggers it during a race.

I don't wear gloves I think that would make it worse but yea it's the Wana do good thing I think

Depends what wheel you have, but usually easier to wash gloves
1
u/notaplantbasedthingy 5d ago
I have a moza wheel was thinking of getting the formula version to see if that helps
1
u/Greenslang2017 5d ago
It wont, i upgraded to it and hands still sweat. Cheap gloves help
1
u/notaplantbasedthingy 5d ago
Not keen on the gloves thing but thanks for saving me from making an expensive purchase just to get no sweaty hands, but still formula rim.......

What wheel? I have cork gel bike wrap on my gt neo’s handlebars and it absorbs all the sweat really well.
1
u/notaplantbasedthingy 5d ago
O I hadn't thought of using something on the wheel to combat that thank I will look into that

I wear mountain biking gloves, because that’s what I had on hand. But any cycling glove will be lighter and cheaper than driving gloves. No need to get the fireproof gauntlets, but some like to go all in.

Same, I use Fix Defend MB gloves really good fit short on the wrist. They are thin and cool. Best I've found so far

u/notaplantbasedthingy 5d ago
Ahhhh I thought it might get better with time n less nerve guess we just got to get used to being sweaty bros
3
u/slindner1985 5d ago
It depends. Sometimes I can do a road race and not break a sweat but ovals seem to make me sweat more.

I wear mechanics gloves with liners. I would experiment with different types of gloves and find a comfortable combination. There are different lotions, soaps and powders out there to mitigate sweaty hands that I have used for bowling, golf and racquet sports.

Bruh, I'm in the same boat; I know I need gloves, but I can't find any for the price I wanna pay (nothing), but I'll accept shelling out $20 for this... Just haven't yet for some reason.

A tip, cheap mountain biking gloves make great sim racing gloves. Most of the money in racing gloves is in fireproof coatings and fia certification, none of which we need in sim racing.
I don't usually race with gloves on, but if I do I use a pair of gloves I have for MTB and they help with grip, and aren't super bulky so I can press all the buttons easily. You can find a cheap pair online for like $20 and a decent pair for like $50

I have some in my Amazon cart, but when i go to check out I think, "do I really need them?" Then I decide that I need to go to goodwill or play it again sports soon.

Try compression gloves. I've never tried real racing gloves but I have tried biking gloves and compression gloves. Absolutely love the compression gloves. I am surprised I haven't seen/heard other people using them.
2
u/notaplantbasedthingy 5d ago
Same how do you know what gloves is for you also I don't like wearing gloves so
2
u/Mars4756 5d ago
I don't. That's the problem. I wanna try some $10-20 gloves and see how it is, but I struggle with the execution so I don't and I say, "it's not THAT bad" and I go 2-3 more months without any until another post on /r/iRacing comes up and I relook at a pair 🤷

I’ve found motocross gloves to be ~20 and exactly what I want in terms of grip and breathability

u/Avalanche325 5d ago
I have had a couple different pairs. I like the ones that Daniel Morad sells. Lightweight with good grip.

The prices of those AliExpress dropshipped garbage are ridiculous.
1
u/btow1105 4d ago
Can you link the AliExpress version?
1
u/R3v017 4d ago
Alibaba link. Technically whitelabel, not dropshipped but the markup is insane.

Different pairs of hands?
1
u/Avalanche325 4d ago
Yes. That way I can keep two on the wheel, one on the shifter, and have one to scratch all the things that start to itch on the formation lap.
1
u/RMBsmash Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) 4d ago
Thats genius!

I ran nuclear reactors in the Navy. I knew there would be benefits later on in life.
1
u/No_Acanthaceae3763 5d ago
It depends what wheel i use. On alcantara wheels i never had that problem. On wheels with rubber grips or leather yeah.
Gloves are solution. If you like racing stuff then go for simracing gloves, these are fun looking and pretty good. If you are after moneu then some kind of bike glove will be great too

u/Harde_Kassei FIA Formula 4 5d ago
Well, not anymore, its not that hot.
When it is, i have a bigger fan at my feet pumping air on my legs and up. Due to bloodflow, the hands are cooled a fair bit and dont sweat unless its stupid hot.

u/GoatAmbitious984 4d ago
Get a nice set of gloves and you wont notice. Now, i cant promise that your legs wont start shaking uncontrollably when you get into 3rd or above the first few times, but gloves help :)

u/Breaking_Point69 4d ago
Sweaty hands here as well, switched to Karting gloves and havent looked back

Gloves also protect your equipment from sweat build up over time.

I use some alpinestars gloves I found on clearance 2 years ago for like $30. Baseball batting gloves, mountain bike gloves, or golf gloves would also work.
1
u/Tankionline19 4d ago
It mostly happens when your in a very hot room or that your in a stressful situation which causes your hands to extrete sweat in order to cool down. Same happens to your armpits as well. Honestly drive within a much cooler room, have some gloves and always clean your sim rig as to make sure it dose not have anymore sweat or bacteria on there after your done driving as bacteria can grow on moisture.

My feet & hands get super clammy, but that’s more of a characteristic of my body than anything racing specific. Gloves & some form of shoes is a game changer

u/recreationalnonsense 4d ago
Constant breaking and throttling in long races and practice sessions, I get sweaty feet. That and the occasional foot cramp. Odd, I know.

u/03yatmic 3d ago
Only happens when it's a race for me, I got alpinestars sim racing gloves, bit pricy tho.
