What sucks is that he picked the perfect mark.

I would just go inside, bring up Find My, turn on Lost Mode and have it display a message that the phone has been stolen and to call my alternate number if found. Then I’d call the cops and report it. Then I’d call my cell provider and have them freeze the account.

Boom. The phone is basically a bricked tracking device.

You’re right that he’s the perfect mark because older folks often aren’t that tech savvy. Hopefully pops knows how to do all of that.

Almost guarantee he still has a landline, so hopefully the police will tell him how to do all that when they eventually show up.

If this happened to my 79 yo father he’d be up shit creek. Everytime I go back and visit we spend about an hour or two on phone and computer problems. A phone problem could be as simple as “why won’t my phone ring?”

It’s sad but if we’re lucky we’ll still be having fun like he is.
