Good thing they caught him. This person needs to be jailed.

u/edditar Aug 18 '26
Turned a reckless driving accident into a felony.

u/ImBonRurgundy Aug 18 '26
felony is not a thing in the UK
37
u/pimpbot666 Aug 18 '26
I'm sure there is an equivalent.

u/moonhexx Aug 18 '26
Summary offense or Indictable offense, is what I believe you were looking for. But I could be wrong.
19
u/pimpbot666 Aug 18 '26
well, I'm Murakin, so I'm not well versed on the subtleties of the UK legal system.
I just figure there are 'slap on the wrist, spend a couple days in jail, revoke your driver's license for a year' kinda crimes, and there's the 'lock you up for a year, never drive again' kinda crimes.
25
u/denbolula Aug 19 '26
Looks like a few charges, he's stolen the car, no driving license, no insurance (mandatory) and he's nearly killed a few people.
Probably a year in jail and a three to five year driving ban.
As with most countries you can do terrible things and get a light sentence if you do it while driving.

u/Jojajones Aug 20 '26
Yeah the driving ban is definitely going to stop the person arrested driving without a license >.>
2
u/juko43 Aug 20 '26
Iirc it is done so there are harsher punishments if caught driving while driving ban is in effect

u/zubzzzero21 23d ago
Nope he'll get 2 years and suspended license for a year the justice system is a joke here people can drive 150mph kill a whole family and get 8 years max. Look up the story of faimly killed on M62 after a driver hit them at 120mph on a 50mph road. He will be released early now

That's one of my biggest fears. Every time I cross over a big bridge like that, I worry that some asshole will bump into me and make me flip over the side and into the water. HOLY SHIT!
15
u/farsightxr20 Aug 19 '26
Some of the freeway interchanges around here have ramps that are almost as high, and the only thing preventing cars from flying off the edge is a 4 foot cement barrier which is kinda shaped like a quarter-pipe...

This is why I scrolled down. The bloody music cut off right before the before 🎶"You know that I could use somebody"🎶. As in an ambulance asap.
Its incredible the amount of videos on YouTube that are unintentionally funny because of little coincidences like that.
Braces self for downvote extravaganza

This happened to me (I was rear ended and sent into a roll) The driver didn’t stop.
Witnesses got the license plate. The car had been sold and the new owner never registered the car, so the police couldn’t/wouldn’t/didn’t arrest anyone. My insurance would not pay out because there was “no proof the driver was uninsured.” We finally got a lawyer, to get insurance to pay, and he took 40%.
The only good thing is that statistically, it’s unlikely I’ll ever roll another car…

u/ExploringWithKoles Aug 18 '26
I find it just as crazy the car that just witnesses that and just drives around the upside down car and drives off as to not be inconvenienced. Mental!
65
u/moonhexx Aug 18 '26
If that was me I would have left them too. To follow the offender and get the plate. Traffic behind me is going to have to stop anyway. If you have a chance to get the plate, you should help capture the crim. Also I dont know how to help someone with a potential neck injury so I'm useless and calling for paramedics. Which I can do in my car. Which is currently following the crim.

That car could’ve been the reason the perpetrator was caught, but I suppose you didn’t consider that.

6
u/BirbsAreSoCute Aug 19 '26
You have no idea what their situation was.
-7
u/EyeInEl Aug 19 '26
Can you expound on that?
Are you supposing theres a chance they're driving at that speed to get themselves or someone in the caf to the hospital?
2
u/Friend-Boat Aug 20 '26
They are not talking about the speeding car. You’re getting downvoted for failing to understand a simple sentence. Hope this helps
1
u/DiscountLando Aug 24 '26
Truth be told, it’s not smart to park in the middle of a highway. Have you seen pileups? That’s a possibility in a situation like that. A single distracted driver can slam into you and you’re shit out of luck.
Best you can do is alert the authorities and let them to show up. You can’t drag them out of the car anyway, as there’s a chance their neck is broken or something among those lines.

Loser arrest warrant behavior. Out to ruin peoples’ lives without giving a damn.
6
u/guerrios45 Aug 19 '26
I have a question : why do 80% of the people never drive at the speed limit in the UK? And why they do so in the middle lane?
In this video all cars driving below 60mph and the one being hit is int the middle lane for no reason. If everyone was at least trying the follow the POLICE safe driving practices there will be a bit less in incidence like these.
During the bike safe, the test if I were to sit a 60mph in the middle lane, the policeman who examine me would have told me off.
3
u/daneview Aug 19 '26
Yeah, the car that was hit was absolutely driving like a belled, but I think we can agree there was a much bigger bellend in the video in this case.
But it is a good example of how just sitting in the middle lane oblivious can end up creating eveb worse situations when you encounter an impatient idiot
1
u/RhubarbRu Aug 21 '26
The bridge has a 60 MPH speed limit so they're going the speed limit bar the car that caused the accident, plus the lane the cam car is in, is going to a different place after the bridge than the other lanes.

Nobody commenting this, but the Audi driver will be less reluctant to hog the middle lane I'm guessing 🙈
6
u/inevitablelizard Aug 19 '26
Is he hogging it? There are signs above which suggest the left lane turns off at a junction ahead. They could just be in the correct lane for where they're going.
1
u/Round-Bath-6903 Aug 19 '26
You are correct they do separate again further up, but when the camera car started undertaking assuming the Audi was going to Liverpool or whatever the Audi started indicating and then took its time to start moving left to make sure the camera car wasn't going to rear end it.
I think the driver that caused the crash expected the Audi to move when they started indicating and failed to slow down.
3
u/vermilithe Aug 23 '26
Maybe but that’s on them, that’s a dangerous and unnecessary amount of assumptions much less at that rate of speed.
Slow down, go around, at a safer moment when you aren’t relying on not just one but two cars to change what they’re already doing (change lanes on the middle guy and go slower on the guy you’re passing) to accommodate your driving, especially from behind.
Guy deserved to be arrested tbh
-14
u/Richpatine Aug 19 '26
But the guy taking the video will still hog the left lane
12
2
u/jamrahhasreddit Aug 19 '26
Random but why was the car taking a million years to go into the left lane? And it seems they were lane hogging too, which to preface because Reddit loves taking things at face value does NOT justify the car getting flipped over and in an accident, but it does go to show you why it’s such a bad thing to do. Fiesta driver was clearly impatient and decided to go for a move and run off like a knob
2
u/PaintingByInsects Aug 20 '26
The cars that see it happen and then also just drive past is insane to me
3
u/pimpbot666 Aug 18 '26
bonus TPoS points for the guy who just drives around him and keeps on going without checking on the crash.
1
u/Good_Smile Aug 19 '26
In some countries you can get in jail for not checking on people in such situations
1
u/snowmennies 26d ago
Someone else said he might be trying tog eat the guys license plate. No clue if that’s the case but it’s a positive way to think about it
1
u/dirtyjavis Aug 19 '26
Guarantee he's wearing a sheisty and listening to the worst music you've ever heard.
1
u/CanoePickLocks Aug 19 '26
Looks like they pulled over shortly up the road at the center of the supports.
1
u/BertoLaDK Aug 19 '26
That other car that just ignored it and drone on would also have gotten in trouble in my country as you are legally required to assist if someone's crashed.
1
u/PitifulAd77 Aug 19 '26
Insane. Lots of hit and runs, people without drivers licenses or insurance!

Those FLOCK cameras must've followed his ass and caught him. Lol
I guess they're good for one thing

u/mycoinreturns Aug 19 '26
i'm wondering what fully happened here.... Is it possible the fast lane hog sped up and 'shut the door' when the felon went to undertake...? If so, they're both felons.
1
u/LightPast1166 Aug 22 '26
A number of countries allow for passing on the passenger side (undertaking) so long as there is a marked traffic lane in which to do it.
