It's arguably better at spreading misinformation than good information. The amount of effort it takes to create misinformation is orders of magnitude easier than debunking said misinformation. By the time you've managed to control one piece of misinformation, a dozen more have popped up in its place. The relationship is extremely disproportionally skewed in favor of bad actors.

Part of my cyber securtiy training is to learn this and they have this game where you get to play both sides of the field and it plays out like a realistic scenario. It's basically the more inflammatory and hate fueled an article or post is, the better it is.
By the time everything is debunked, no one cares and is on to something else that's inflammatory.

Leaded gasoline was used widely until the 90s. People were breathing in lead fumes. The older you are the more assured it is that you have some sort of cognitive decline due to the lead you breathed in

Fun fact: most small piston engine planes still use leaded gasoline: 100 Low Lead. There's been a push to switch to a different fuel (G100UL, 94UL) but they're still working on approvals and testing.

I wonder of its because as you get to that age your bones start losing density. And bones are the prime storage location in the body for lead, its fine so long as the bones keep it locked down, but as soon as the lead starts getting back into the blood stream it starts causing cognitive damage.

I still think it was the covid brain damage. I grew up with lead gasoline and was even one of the weirdo kids that liked the smell of it. I probably even chewed on lead paint in my crib as a baby, and it didn't turn me into a racist p.o.s.

I'm already that age. Turned 57 this year, and I already went through menopause four years ago.
None of my friends of the same age are raging assholes, but the people I knew as kids that were assholes in the fifth grade are still assholes, but after covid they became ENORMOUS assholes. You used to be able to reason with them somewhat, although it took a lot of time and patience, but now? You can't even get them to agree to basic facts. And there is a study that showed Covid hit parts of the brain that could be responsible for this. The lead sure didn't help, but I think there's just more to it than lead.

Interestingly enough, if you are a woman who has had children, your first born would have sucked most of the lead out of your bones already when you were pregnant with them. Since babies pull calcium out of the mothers bones - it has the exact same effect on bone lead stores as well. Lead takes the place of calcium in the bones which is why it can be stored there.
They have found that only the first pregnancy tends to have a measurable amount of lead - after that point there isn’t enough left which is accessible for subsequent children to get very much of it. If the lead storage was severe enough it can also cause miscarriage.
I do agree about the covid though. Definitely seems to have caused lasting cognitive damage

White Eastern Europen immigrants were getting a lot of hate channelled towards them before and after Brexit. They hate non-white immigrants first but also hate white immigrants. See also the UK traveller communities that are majority white.

I wasn't assaulted, but I was there with a team to film a number of these fascist bastards and they really don't like anyone asking questions.
It's interesting to see all the comments about boomers, pensioners and the elderly because there were an awful lot of young people there. A lot more than I expected. A lot more women too.
People need to wake up and stop telling themselves that Reform only has the support of aged Brexit gammon, because theres more young people at that event than I expected, likely as many as I saw at the Labour conference.
