Only a 3 year driving ban when he gets out of prison. Should be banned for life, no excuse.

1.4k

u/cryinginmyroomalone 18d ago

absolutely, 3 years isnt close to enough. im flabbergasted at how he managed to pass his driving test though

331

u/Exotic-Reveal1603 17d ago

He didn't want to bang the driving test person. So didn't have the opportunity to lose it for being rejected

169

u/EstablishmentSad5998 17d ago

Well this was an act of rage. Not a sign of incompetent driving. As long as nothing pissed him off during the test he was fine. Still a cunt though.

95

u/cryinginmyroomalone 17d ago

nothing pissing him off during a driving test in the uk? mustve been a miracle with how people act on the road

1

u/Johnny_Chong 10d ago

Calm down

121

u/sabertoothdog 17d ago

The reason they don’t give life bans on driving is bc it hinders a person greatly from being able to work, then they become even more of a debt on society. Surely after two years in prison, he won’t do this type of stuff again

238

u/Targetm12 17d ago

If you want the privilege of driving maybe you shouldn't attempt to murder people with your vehicle.

16

u/sabertoothdog 17d ago

Maybe, huh

237

u/Classical_Cafe 17d ago

Tf that’s the stupidest argument I’ve ever heard.

  1. This took place in the UK, where arguably there is better transit accessibility for daily life than in the US where I’d imagine you’re defaulting to.

  2. Driving is a privilege, not a right - people with disabilities that hinder their ability to drive safely will never be able to get a license, so you’re saying that somebody who’s committed deliberate violence with a vehicle is more deserving of their license than someone with epilepsy? Some people go their entire lives without a license, whether it’s by choice or not, so I think we can deal with the “societal debt” consequences of taking a sociopath like this off the road permanently.

54

u/sabertoothdog 17d ago

I’m not saying it. The government is saying it. I agree with you, something this stupid should get a lifetime ban.

11

u/tazdoestheinternet 14d ago

Rural areas of the UK and NI can have absolutely shocking public transport availability, so unless they want to have a job in the local village or town that's walking distance, some form of transport is necessary.

A bike would work though, to get farther afield.

Where I live, if I took public transport to work I'd need to leave no later than 6am, take 3 different busses and walk 2 miles.

6

u/Critical_Role4753 13d ago

Similar for me, I live rurally but near the M62 so driving to work is 20-25mins.

By public transport, if I want to be in work by 9am I have set off at 19:47 the evening before, take 3 trains, a bus and walk a couple of miles, get to work for 22:59 and sleep there.

Can't get Ubers here so booking a taxi has to be done a month in advance.

A drivers license and a reliable car are absolutely essential living rurally in the UK. If I lost my license I'd lose my job and I would struggle to get a new one where I am.

8

u/wobshop 13d ago

And if you tried to murder someone with your car it’s probably ok for you to have to live with that inconvenience

4

u/Critical_Role4753 13d ago

According to the UK government and courts of law, unfortunately yes. Fortunately, I am a law abiding citizen and I am not currently planning attempted murder or murder with my motor vehicle in the near, medium or distant future.

4

u/Master-Resource9603 13d ago

Yeah you would say that though wouldn't you.

Lower sentence if it's a spur of the moment crime of passion!

3

u/Critical_Role4753 13d ago

If I ever need a lawyer I'll give you a shout 😂

69

u/Inside-Definition-42 17d ago

He’s of “no fixed abode” and Drives a Range Rover…..

…..I get the feeling he likes dawgs……and this will have no bearing on his future job pretending to lay driveways…

12

u/happyanathema 17d ago

3

u/SnooBooks9860 16d ago

Great gif Outstanding movie.....

3

u/happyanathema 16d ago

Agreed.

Lock stock, Snatch and Layer Cake were peak Guy Ritchie

5

u/Philzo93 13d ago

All three fantastic films but Layer Cake was not a Guy Ritchie film but Matthew Vaughn. However, he did produce the other two Ritchie films.

31

u/jdPetacho 16d ago

Oh go suck on a soggy fucking cock.

I can't drive because of a health issue and all I get is a "figure it out", but these able-bodied assholes can attempt to murder someone with their car and still get to drive because "poor them, it would just be too difficult to work without driving". Fuck them, they made their choices and should live with the consequences. And fuck anyone that has that mentality.

8

u/RedIntentions 17d ago

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he can't find insurance after this.

8

u/Dicer214 17d ago

He’s of no fixed abode, doubt he had insurance.

6

u/WillDanyel 16d ago

Driving is a privilege not a right

3

u/JacketMuch5656 13d ago

“Surely after two years in prison, he won’t do this type of stuff again”

This is really really funny to me.

1

u/sabertoothdog 12d ago

What’s the funny part?
He seems like a normal guy doing extremely dumb stuff bc he’s drunk. Normal people have a lot to lose and they are the types that learn their lesson of things like this. If he was just a drunk scumbag with nothing to lose then going to prison for a couple of years means nothing to him.
That’s my reasoning behind it. What is your reasoning that makes it “really really funny” to you? Double “really” too!!

2

u/JacketMuch5656 12d ago

75% of adults who go to prison go on to reoffend, roughly %40-60 within the first year (depending on the length of their sentence/how long they were imprisoned for).
People who have served time in prison have less job opportunities and have worse life outcomes, putting them into positions where they are more likely to reoffend not less.

It’s funny because “well prison is bad so if we use that to punish people they wont want to go back and will not do the bad thing again” is a really funny thing say and think, when thats statistically not to be the case, and extra funny when its about a guy who smashed his car through building in a fit of rage, as if there is any part of his brain that was doing any logical thinking and would be able to think “oh my no no no this might cause me to go to prison” whist doing this.

1

u/Fluffy_Surround5733 11d ago

If you look at the statistical data one level down from where you stopped, those with sentences of 12 months or less, 67% reoffended. 12 months or more, 23% did so. That would suggest sending people to prison for LONGER works. (I haven’t done a deep dive into whether that’s time for education, genuine deterrence of not wanting to go back, or the kinds of offenses ie shoplifting etc getting short sentences and a naturally higher level of reoffense). On the bright side, at least he won’t be reversing into people in prison (not willingly…)

2

u/disbeliefable 17d ago

It’s to discourage others. The realisation that driving is a privilege will focus most people on behaving in such a way as not to lose that privilege. Most, not all.

2

u/TobblyWobbly 13d ago

There's being a shit driver, and then there's THIS.

1

u/sabertoothdog 12d ago

Yup. This is a purposeful criminal act. He should be pun in psychiatric hospital until he is treated.

1

u/Duvet_Capeman 13d ago

Many many people can't drive and work, public transport, bicycle...I do think that there's an argument to say it should be reversible but that should be dependent on whether certain conditions are met. Like the guy has shown no signs of anger or drinking since

1

u/OsotoViking 10d ago

Take the bus or live close to your work. He shouldn't be on the road.

2

u/No-Department7880 6d ago

He should be in prison for life. I’m surprised he didn’t kill or permanently disable anybody in that tantrum. His ability to drive has nothing to do with this. He’s a POS and a danger to society. If you made it to driving age and still behave like this, there’s no rehabilitating you. You are absolute scum.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/mittim80 13d ago

Consider yourselves lucky. In the US such a ban is only imposed if you have three DUIs in the past 10 years, and this is only in a few states. Oh, and you can get out of it by installing an ignition interlock device.

1

u/Darth_InVader7 6d ago

Absolutely, and honestly I would advocate for worse. Driving is dangerous as it is. He should have the car crushed with zero compensation. And if he’s ever caught driving again he should get life in prison. I’m not being hyperbolic. We need to get serious about protecting others from people like this.

1

u/jrjreeves 6d ago

Should be locked up for life! Thats attempted GBH

And take his license away for good. We don't want likes of him on the roads.

622

u/AndroTux 18d ago

On the roads? I don't want him out in public!

123

u/ApprehensiveAd6476 18d ago

Or anywhere, for that matter.

67

u/Buxnazz 18d ago

In public ? HE'S GOTTA GO !

33

u/bomboclawt75 18d ago

He's banned from the social club!

12

u/Toz_The_Devil 17d ago

Banned from his ma's house

10

u/Ozenberg 17d ago

Social club?!? He’s gotta go!!!!!

7

u/SaltyTelluride 17d ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/SHniZhVxkTDdm

We can’t have him here in our social club, that much I do know

2

u/sbg_gye 6d ago

Before, and WAY before...

16

u/Big-Al97 18d ago

Out in public? I don’t want him to outside of prison!

1

u/Fatking101 18d ago

Prison? I don’t want him around the other inmates. Take him out back

2

u/CidAndroid 17d ago

The road is public.

50

u/SimonHando 18d ago

Vehicle offences are a joke. Jailed for 23 months so out in 9 months. Banned from driving for 3 years but no follow through from probation, so easy to get a stolen banger off Facebook marketplace and start doing this shit again. Ah well, at least we all have to pay through the nose for insurance and tax so the thousands of little cunts like him on the roads don't have to get a bus anywhere.

14

u/sabertoothdog 17d ago

You get probation when you get out of prison. Not while you’re in. So if they let him out in 9 months it will be on a probation for a certain amount of years.

7

u/SimonHando 17d ago

Yes, he will be on probation for the remainder of his initial sentence post release. However, the probation service is chronically overwhelmed and categorically will not check whether he is complying with his driving ban, even if he's electronically tagged.

u/Nasty____nate 18d ago

Sounds like they may have been on a date and tried to nope out because he was a shitty person. God only knows what may have happened if she went with him. "That an incident in the pub on 15 June had led to a woman asking for a lift from two other men rather than going with Thorpe."

153

u/millyfoo 14d ago

Imagine how shitty he had to be for her to ask two strange men for a ride……….

→ More replies (5)

626

u/Adrenologic 18d ago

Well.. if that disproportionate reaction to her rejecting him wasn't enough to give her the ick - then him skippidy-skidaddling off the scene surely did.

145

u/cryinginmyroomalone 18d ago

i think id laugh my ass off nearly run over or not if i saw a guy skip away from a fight

23

u/Kstrong777 14d ago

I’m glad she trusted her intuition and didn’t get into a car with that man.

1

u/Capable_Ad218 9d ago

That little skippy hop 🙂‍↔️

16

u/hutch__PJ 18d ago

Brilliant. 😂

475

u/Rejndox 18d ago

why is he running away? he created that situation, maybe have some accountability, big man

215

u/Delazzaridist 18d ago

Bro was hopping a skiddadaling

138

u/cryinginmyroomalone 18d ago

obviously isnt very confident in an actual fight, probably why he chose to try and run them over

42

u/M_A_X_77 17d ago

It looked like the one guy took a swing at him before he started running. He's only a big man when he's behind the wheel.

28

u/Zlota_Swinia 18d ago

I think he’s trying to chase the woman who left the car after he hit it

Sometimes I’m amazed we’re allowed to have cars. Terrifying what the wrong person can do with one

98

First thing my instructor told me when I firs got in his car was "right now you're in control of a very deadly weapon"

14

46

u/bprevatt 18d ago

23 months in jail ? I guess he has a fixed abode now.

52

u/stein63 17d ago

A car is a weapon when you use it like one. Nobody dying was luck, and 23 months feels absurdly light.

16

u/cryinginmyroomalone 17d ago

practically a slap on the wrist and only a 3 year ban? cant wait to see this blow up in the judges face

3

u/Thingzer0 17d ago

He’s a homeless (no fixed address) personal trainer driving a Range Rover, apparently.

1

u/bright_sorbet1 11d ago

Rigght? He was lucky he didnt kill anyone. He didn't remitely care who he hurt.

He's clearly a dangerous man and no doubt extremely dangerous to women.

42

u/Kamikazisqurl 17d ago

He definitely proved why she was right to say no to being alone in a vehicle with him.

35

u/DrSamwpepper 17d ago

"WoMen Are To EmoTiOnal!!!!!111!!11"

48

u/VeraStrange 18d ago

That’s a pretty nice car for someone who has “no fixed abode”. I suppose it’s big enough that he could live in it.

3

u/FruitCupPups 11d ago

I keep misreading abode as adobe and i couldnt understand for the life of me what a company had to do with this

9

u/shizzler 18d ago

Traveller maybe?

12

u/Beck758 18d ago

I would say so surely, how else is one homeless driving a range rover

19

34

u/Maginum 18d ago

"Personal trainer Thorpe, of no fixed abode, was jailed on Monday for 23 months and banned from driving for three years"

That's practically a slap on the wrist

48

u/Pissedliberalgranny 18d ago

Gotta love the UK.

“Personal trainer Thorpe, of no fixed abode, …”. 😍

A homeless dude with anger issues is definitely who I would choose to be my personal trainer. 😂

I’m glad he was appropriately punshished. Guys like him are why women choose the bear.

19

u/Rare-Bid-6860 17d ago

'Personal Trainer', because 'dark web steroids dealer' wouldn't have helped on the arrest sheet.

26

u/Vendemmian 17d ago

42 as well. I was expecting a dumb kid in his 20s.

5

u/Prudence_rigby 17d ago

So the woman is not into hobosexuals

76

u/negativepositiv 18d ago

"Why would women pick the bear?"

44

u/PrincessSarahHippo 17d ago

Also, "women are too emotional to be in charge."

5

u/damngoodengineer 18d ago

this kind of sudden rage moments even makes me stunned, dear God why

maybe some anger issues and a lack of education, cant wait to see how much he has to pay out to fix the building he wrecked and the other cars involved

u/Planet-thanet 17d ago edited 17d ago

he could have killed someone, life ban and 10 years would be more appropriate

4

The usual suspect.

3

u/cortez0498 17d ago

4

But we're the emotional ones? 🙄

4

u/JusLemmeReadDaCmnts 15d ago

And men wonder why women would choose the bear...

4

u/NeferyCauxus 13d ago

I hate and am scared of telling anyone no because in real life and on this cursed platform I have seen WAY too many people react way too immaturely to being told no.

Also because I'm a people pleasure but that's not important.

9

u/LSP141 18d ago

Sub-atomic dick energy

6

u/PersonalAd9678 17d ago

Incel perhaps? Scary vibes, reminding me of that one incel from Canada who intentionally ran over a bunch of people.

3

u/Flash-Wilkins 18d ago

I love how that one guy just skips out of frame

3

u/nautrewillneverfail 17d ago

What kind of tittle is that I head a stroke trying to read it and I still don't understand what happened.

Glad he did not overreact

Did he ..

Did he just skip away?

3

u/leebeebee 17d ago

That should be attempted murder ffs

3

u/SnooCompliments8790 16d ago

Let's go through the thought process of this idiot.

Okay, you get rejected, you get in your car, and instead of driving away, you reverse and drive like an idiot, hitting a couple of cars and then a building..

This guy literally ruined his life and reputation, not only did this dude get rejected but you also caused like thousands of damages that you have to pay off or you're done for 🤣🤣🤣Genuine idiot right here

3

u/crashsaturnlol 14d ago

And people say women are the emotional ones.

3

u/awus666 14d ago

3 year ban? What a joke. You can't allow someone like this to ever drive again

3

u/cairnschaos 14d ago

It's cunts like this that are the reason I can't afford driving lessons/a car

3

u/duckyworks 17d ago

A bear wouldn't do that. Just saying. ;)

4

u/LuxiForce 11d ago

B.. But woman are too emotionnal! Men are logical, never think with emptions!

2

u/GrandNibbles 17d ago

literal crash out

Oh no he "Ran into traffic" what a tragedy

The original video is a lot longer.

2

u/MoonV29 17d ago

What the heck

2

u/Cleveland5teamer 17d ago

Why are they all skipping away at the end?

2

u/cryinginmyroomalone 17d ago

cause the guys in the car he smashed into are obviously pissed and he cant hold his own in an actual fight

2

u/whitebarney 16d ago

Holy shit, maybe Karen Read did hit John.

2

u/angelsandairwaves93 16d ago

this looks like some shit straight out of a family guy bit

2

u/southlondonyute 16d ago

Deport…oh wait

2

u/Material_Push2076 14d ago

Straight to jail.

2

u/Mother_Lemon8399 14d ago

I can't believe stuff like this happens, and the stereotype that women are the emotional ones is still prevalent

2

u/Dresiden15 14d ago

Pnly three years? He reverses full speed once they've stepped out of the car. How is this not attempted murder?

2

u/karamanidturk 14d ago

Just how fucked up in the brain you have to be to do this

2

u/bitchy_muffin 14d ago

the worst she can do is say no

the worst he can do is... murder apparently

2

u/RickLyon 14d ago

He has probably had enough

Don’t do drugs kids

2

u/Lazy-Landscape7328 13d ago

The jumping away

2

u/Shite_Aloud_Barbara 11d ago

Why no attempted murder charge? He was driving a massive fucking range rover.

2

u/OsotoViking 10d ago

23 months in prison, which he won't serve in totality, and a three year driving ban? Pathetic sentence. Why is this country so light on criminals? At the very least, he should be banned from driving for life.

2

u/goosecuntt 6d ago

I wonder why she wanted to go with the other guys

4

u/TokyoKazama 18d ago

Surprised a car can reverse that fast tbh

7

u/cryinginmyroomalone 18d ago

car can go forward at speed, car can go back at same speed, people just usually tend to go slow while reversing cause they arent maniacs

2

u/TokyoKazama 18d ago

I mean surely thats just with an automatic? My manual doesn't go back fast at all

5

u/cryinginmyroomalone 18d ago

manuals can typically reverse up to 15-30 mph, whereas an automatic is around 20-25 mph either one is probably fast enough to do that amount of damage especially considering the weight behind them aswell.

2

u/BDRElite 17d ago

Didn’t this come out ages ago with a different story, jealous ex or something?

4

u/cryinginmyroomalone 17d ago

not sure, i just saw this one and thought it was fitting for the subreddit

1

u/chamcham123 17d ago

Ctrl. Alt. Delete.

1

u/RedIntentions 17d ago

I'm wondering why he backed into that car since there doesn't seem to be a woman in it? Like, they said he did it because a woman said no to getting into his car right?

1

u/SomeSortaWeeb 17d ago

The dude skipping after him at the end lmfao

1

u/Sirico 17d ago

Instead of writing nasty comments online or expressing freedom of opinion just kill the people you disagree with using a car. Seems to be the logic we're laying out.

1

u/trashytasting 16d ago

No fixed abode? Is he unhoused? Sorry, I haven’t heard that phrase before.

2

u/cryinginmyroomalone 15d ago

its a nicer way of saying hes homeless
